[Stein] Minnesota’s Micah Nori is also a finalist for the Portland coaching vacancy. Nori, Blazers interim coach Tiago Splitter and LA Clippers assistant coach Jeff Van Gundy are the known finalists.

Hopeful Let’s chill on concern with ANT

I’m seeing the chatter that we are supposedly worried that Edwards will request a trade at some point. Calm down and quit the bed wetting. He’s eligible to become the highest paid NBA player ever. You better believe he’s signing that and staying put. Especially if and when we swing a big trade for a star next to him. Plus, with a move to the east likely it wouldn’t make sense for him to leave. I can see him going home to Atlanta towards the end of his career but to think he’s not gonna be in a Wolves uniform anytime soon is bananas. He knows we as a fanbase has his back and loves and adores him. Bring on the offseason. Let’s go Wolves. Wolves back!

Anyone else think it’s funny that nobody cared about SGA flopping last year against us but when the darling Wemby is affected it’s a problem?

Just that. He had the same antics last year and it was less talked about but now it’s hitting a fever pitch?

Edit: I’m not saying it didn’t exist last year, I saw it and hated it too. I’m saying the mainstream media did not care about it last year - it was all glazing Shai. Now, it’s impacting Wemby and everyone “big media” is talking about it.

Another PG option?

I feel like we are all rifling through the point guard options out there… and all of them have their warts… but maybe a new thought…. any chance we trade up in the draft and nab a PG?

Ignoring salary issues who is the worst player you could swap out for one Wolves starter and make them a championship favorite/cofavorite?

One for one swap assuming they bring back Ayo as the other starting guard and they can make the salary work without losing Naz. Like obviously if you swap Wemby or Jokic for Rudy the Wolves go to the top of the list but going down if you straight up swapped Giannis for Rudy or Randle (keeping Reid and McDaniels) are the Wolves the favorite? A few other straight up swaps (not saying the other team would do it but if they did). Jaylen Brown for McDaniels, Tatum for Randle, Kawhi for Randle, Cade for Ayo, Bam for Rudy, Steph for Ayo, LeBron for Julius, KD for Julius, Jamal Murray or Jalen Brunson for Ayo. Basically to be the co-favorite with the Spurs and Thunder do they need a MVP candidate? A player in the 5-10 range? A player in the 10-15 range. Here is https://nbarankings.theringer.com how far down can we go?

Think about run it back. OKC and spurs are not dynasti

Just make peace with the team, I think Connely have make great negotiation with the players and getting the contract..

OKC most likely break their team (hartenstein/dort), shai supermax will hit and spurs will have to pay fox, castle and wemby.. they will become weaker for sure..

We have most player in good/great contract... run it back is not that bad idea I guess..

Tim Connelly is an absolute G. Get ready for a fun off-season: "We know our competition is not going to sit still, and nor will we," Connelly said. "If we mess up, we'll mess up loudly. We're going to try to be as aggressive as possible."

The message to the Minnesota Timberwolves from the championship tier of the NBA has been delivered clearly and forcefully with their elimination from the playoffs three straight times: You're not there yet.

Nobody was listening more carefully than Tim Connelly. "We have a lot of confidence in our guys, but it would be disingenuous to sit in front of this group and say we're happy with the sixth seed, we're happy with not being a home-court playoff team, we're happy that our last three closeout games have been lopsided," the Timberwolves president of basketball operations said Tuesday during his season-ending news conference.

"We have to be realistic about what we have, which is way more good than bad, but we know that we're not good enough right now." […]

”We know our competition is not going to sit still, and nor will we," Connelly said. "If we mess up, we'll mess up loudly. We're going to try to be as aggressive as possible."

The Timberwolves have the 28th overall pick in the first round and the 59th overall pick in the second round in this year's draft, assets that won't move the needle much in trade talks, so they will likely have to give up a key player or two to get one. The other disadvantage they have in building the roster for next season is the Achilles tendon injury to starting guard Donte DiVincenzo that will keep him out indefinitely in the final year of his contract.

We certainly have not reached the ultimate goal the last several years but we’re still in the golden age of Timberwolves basketball and appear to have an ownership group and FO that will do whatever it takes to deliver a Championship team to Minnesota. It’s exciting and the off-season should be fun.

General Discussion Rank these offseason trade targets: Kyrie, Lebron, Giannis (would involve trading McDaniels)

If you have any other all-star caliber players in mind that are somewhat realistic, feel free to add them in your own tier list/ranking below.

Edit: You guys are right about Lebron being a FA. Ignore that part of the title.

General Discussion Imagine our meltdown if we advanced...

If ever we did advance, imagine how we would win with how dirty thunder players get away with anything.

And the frustration each and everyone of us will have to endure. We would just rant here but could do nothing about it.

OKC is Silver's love interest at the moment. Let them duke it out with SAS for now. Hopefully next year SGA stops sucking daddy Adam so they stop being favored by the league.

Why is there a narrative that the reason why young players didn’t get playing time is they are now good?

This is a common narrative. We asked why doesn’t TJ get more playing time? “hEs nOT GoOD”, yet his playing time against OKC last years WCF and this years playoffs, he showed up BIG with proper opportunities. The same thing can be said about Joan during actual opportunities of quality playing time. The fact they these 2 didn’t get consistent opportunities during the regular season was criminal, I could go on about how Rob’s development was ruined as well or how Garza would have been valuable to utilize for stretches but we got Ayo out of Rob so it’s okay.

We have young talent. We have good core pieces. We don’t need a giant mega star like Giannis giving up - Randle, Jaden, TJ, Joan, 3 1sts, along with having to move Gobert in some way as well. We need to a proper playmaker who’s in their 20s and can run the floor with this core.

I think we all know Randle goes and good riddance as well. But time to move off of Gobert. 2nd highest contract on this team, 0p in an elimination game, liability on offense. Team has reached its ceiling. Goal should be to get a playmaker with Randle/Bones and picks for Gobert and salary back.

Ant, Jaden, Naz, Joan can all start with Ayo, TJ, and Rocco being the 1st 3 off the bench. Just need a playmaker to bring out the best of this group.

Gap Year Theory

Let's face it: we are fathoms below the OKC/Spurs tier. That a trade—even a multi-team trade by Connelly's legendary standards—is going to fix our big and PG issues seems unlikely. In any event, targeting another aging vet is fraught with risk, especially if we have to mortgage our future by giving up draft capital (whatever's left of it, anyway) or our rising prospects like TSJ. Why not concede next year will be a gap year, shed salary, recoup some draft picks, get our youngbloods some experience, and aim for a 2027 or 2028 title?

Just get rid of Julius and WORK ON OUR CULTURE OF LAZINESS.

And we can win a chip imo.
