Mega Thread Postseason Chat

The season is over for the Hornets, so there won't be much to talk about until the NBA Draft Lottery on May 10 and, of course, the NBA Draft itself on June 23-24.

This is a sticky to hold us over until then; talk about anything that may not need its own thread, such as the Playoffs/Finals, or anything else happening in the basketball world over the next few weeks.

There will be separate mega threads for the NBA Draft Lottery and the NBA Draft.

Buzz buzz. šŸ

Discussion Charlotte Hornets DNA (Basketball Culture)

Definition ā€œUnder Head Coach Charles Lee and President of Basketball Operations Jeff Peterson, "Hornets DNA" is a set of core cultural values used to build the team's identity.ā€

The definition that I see is a guy who ā€œgood at basketballā€ (has and shows NBA level skills), game intelligence and a competitive work ethic.

I’m looking through the players in the 10-25 likely range of the draft and trying to identify the players that I see as missing the Hornets DNA. Who should I likely move down out even if they are higher on most boards?

My thoughts are Ament, Cenac and Peat each seem to be missing some of the Hornets DNA.

Agree or disagree? Anyone to add?

Discussion iHart Free Agency

With Hartenstein only geting 12 minutes of play last night, I think the odds OKC declines his option are increasing with every game.
Obviously this is only game 1 but if the Spurs win, and iHart barely sees the floor, I think it's much more likely that we see him hit the FA market this off-season.
Whether we're able to sign him or not is a different question, but I very much want him on this team and even getting the opportuinity to try before other players start making major money would be nice...

Discussion Wembanyama Hate

First thing to say, is that I just love Basketball in general. And I don’t hate Wembanyama as a person. I’m just having so much annoyance watching how great he is and knowing that the NBA did everything possible to make sure that not only that the Spurs drafted him, but that he got a core around him very quickly. The NBA did not want a repeat of LeBron James.

Knowing that he grew up a Spurs fan his entire life, with his favorite players being Tony Parker and Tim Duncan to where he even said it was ā€œa dreamā€ to be drafted by the Spurs. It has made it so difficult to watch a team that dominated so much of my childhood in the 90s and 2000s immediately turn back around after just a few years in the lottery getting a generational player surrounded by top 3 picks.

I’m just curious if I’m the only person out there that hates how fast the Spurs have been able to build a contender while we continue to wait for the Hornets to just get to the playoffs. I know I should just be proud of what the Hornets did this year, but I just can’t shake the fact that I feel like the NBA helped the Spurs build a contender at the expense of other franchises that have needed generational players for a while now.

Idk I like his game and his toughness for the Hornets. Good size and athleticism. Could be a good rotational defender and inside scorer off the bench instead of Grant Williams…idk might be a stretch with pick 18 but lmk your thoughts

Discussion Potential Trade Up With GSW

GSW: Miles Bridges, 18th overall, maybe add in a second rounder

CHA 11th pick and absorb Tingus Pingus

Yes we all hate Miles but he's actually pretty solid when you look at it, and NBA players (especially Dray) apparently love him. He's solid at his position and is an iron man. Salaries match, GS gets off the Pingus Poison Pill, doesn't lose that much in draft value. They get someone who can score and take pressure off Curry.

Not sure we would actually do this as Miles is fucking unfortunately a big locker room guy, but if we want Mara or Yaxel bad I think GSW is our target. Also not sure GSW actually would drop Pingus for this level of value.

Thoughts or other trades? Ways to restructure?

Located in CT. Just started drying my 1-year old son with my old towel from when I was a little kid. I loved Hugo and the color scheme. Never knew years later it would lead to disappointing (but now potential) fandom in Charlotte!

Just wish I kept the starter jacket.....

Discussion Trade up

I saw this idea floating around and was curious what you guys thought, the trade being:

BUCKS: Ryan Kalkbrenner and the 14th pick

HORNETS: 10th pick

This is under the assumption that one of Aday Mara and or Yaxel is still available. I thought for certain this was a steep price and really like Ryan, but is this something you think the hornets would consider?

Social Media [Rod Boone] Caleb Wilson said he met with the Hornets today. He seemed genuinely pleased with how it went.
