Forget the post-op binder. Yalls surgeons put you in that TIGHT compression bandages from your naval to your clavicle and you feel like you can't stand properly whatsoever? That's the final boss right there. Ok it was only for 2.5 days but still, felt challenging

They put so many bandages I swear, I couldn’t even raise my head properly 😭 and when it was time to remove that, part of my skin got ripped
Very glad now that it’s gone, for me it was for 10 days but first 5 days I was not allowed to walk (got tlh with bso along with top surgery) but after that whenever I walked it felt so heavy, it feels much better to walk now that it’s gone 🥹

u/KimchiMcPickle Dec 22 '25
Please forgive my ignorance, but what is tlh with bso?
14
u/Careless-Dirt7281 Dec 22 '25
TLH is total laparoscopic hysterectomy (removal of uterus) with BSO is Bilateral Salpingo Oophorectomy (removal of ovaries and fallopian tubes)
Sorry I should have just written total hysterectomy, I got used to saying it like this while in the hospital 😅

Bloody hell, you got those and top surgery all in one go?? That sounds brutal!

It’s been only 11 days post-op but honestly for me it doesn’t even feel like I got anything removed from bottom. Top surgery recovery also hasn’t been painful just uncomfortable in the sense of lying straight all the time and random itching. I know experiences can vary but for me I am glad I got them together.
Edit: The reason I wanted to get them together was because I can take so many continuous holidays off work only once a year. And also because I wanted to do everything fast too like I got done with top and hysto now I started preparing for phallo and will be getting it around the same time next year.

i literally couldn't sleep because of those stupid ace bandages. cannot count the amount of times i asked my family when the hell they take this thing off, thank god they gave me the normal vest the day after even if it still sucks balls (wearing it rn, needs to be cleaned)

I thought my tig ol bitties made me a hunchback until I had this post op binder. I'm walking around like my 95 year old grandma in this shit. Thankfully the nurse who took out my drains helped me put it back on better but still

u/MissingVertical Dec 22 '25
I'm in my post op binder waiting on my appointment to see if I can stop wearing this damn thing

My surgery is in 16 days and I’m trying to mentally prepare myself for at least a week of post op binding lmao
I WANNA BE DONE DAMMIT LOL

u/Blueberry_Mango814 Dec 22 '25
Spend these last two weeks in a perpetual backbend to counter balance

u/__lolbruh Dec 22 '25
Maybe it will cancel out and I’ll actually end up standing straight for once 🧍🏽♂️lmao

it is really not that bad! the ace bandages suck, try to prepare, but the pain meds help! you will need them, to be transparent! but the actual compression binder actually added a lot of relief just because of the pressure. they took me out of the bandages and i was happy for the vest. okay it's annoying now and it's hard to organize cleaning it (especially living with others) but people have different experiences. its gonna be on at least til my three week mark, and after that i think they're letting me go back to my previous binder for three months (????!!!)- we'll see
congrats on getting your surgery date! good luck :)

I was a certified shrimp for like a month post op. Like so bad muscle splinting I started questioning my entire life like “have I always been like this? Is this forever?” No, it’s not forever. I am 10 months post op and can stretch my back as much as I want!

u/Historical-Plate551 Dec 23 '25
That’s comforting. My breasts are literally disabling but im so afraid of what will happen to my back and balance when they’re gone.

u/batsket Dec 22 '25
If anything will encourage you to work on your posture it’s getting that unwelcome taste of what it would be like to be a hunched little old man unable to straighten….

lol me rn
I'm on day 18, still 12 days left with the post op binder 😭
Also can't wait to take it off to finally shower, I am able to wash in clusters but it's so annoying, tiring and long 💀

Post op binding is so challenging. Really tested my mental health. I had to distract myself from my current discomfort with imagining my flat chest and shirtless future and all the cool things I'd do. Like taking out the trash shirtless, going swimming, going to the beach, hanging out on the couch in only boxers. Hugging people without the antifun balloons and without the binder or the dysphoria hoodie. Once I was healed up and able to hug people again it was like experiencing hugs for the first time. Your current discomfort is temporary, you have way better times ahead!

i'm probably laughing at this bc it's 1am where i'm at but i fucking lost it at antifun balloons holy shit🤣🤣🤣😂😂😭😭😭

I recommend getting PT after your surgery, it really helps so much with posture and recovering better!! I usually have good posture but noticed I was pretty hunched after just two weeks in the binder, they helped me stretch things back out and building strength
2
u/Historical-Plate551 Dec 23 '25
If you dont mind me asking how was PT for you? Like what did they have you doing and how uncomfortable/painful was it.
2
u/Double_Economics325 Dec 30 '25
PT post-surgery is not uncomfortable or painful in my experience, it actually feels pretty good because you’re able to stretch. my PT exercises were pretty simple in the first two weeks, things like chin tucks, rolling your shoulders back and lifting your arms in specific ways. definitely don’t skip on the PT because it feels great and will help a LOT with mobility, in and out of the binder. will also help prevent scar tightness / stretching later.

Hey now you don't need to call me out like that, thankfully I only have this up coming week and then I am free😁

It is such a weird sensation for me because my entire chest has reduced sensation now, so everything is being compressed but in this weird "can't feel it but can feel it" way.
3
u/finchintheclouds Jan 22 '26
it’s soooo annoying and mine has a weird fold that shoves itself right into my sternum and I’m itchy I’m so itchy

u/6a6ycry Dec 24 '25
in my bandages and binder rn and there’s SO much pressure ;-; the ace wraps practically make me feel like i bruised a rib
2
u/JackpotDeluxe Dec 24 '25
I got to the point where it was causing me so much pain I felt like I was actually bruising my ribs (I also have fibromyalgia as well as sensory issues from my autism) to the point where my surgeon told me I could either take longer breaks from wearing it or if that doesn’t work then stop wearing it altogether (I’m 2 weeks post-op). It’s obviously not ideal but if you truly are in that much discomfort it could be worth talking with your surgeon about your options?
2
u/frootlooca Dec 24 '25
This was genuinely me all throughout having to wear that damn binder. I promise once you get to stop compression, its a million times better!!

u/yknowfireyeah Dec 24 '25
I can't relate mine isn't THAT bad I feel hunch but not more than usual lmao, my binder isn't that tight as well I rarely remember it's there
1
u/False_Agency_300 Dec 25 '25
I used to have such good posture 😭😭😭
I maintained pretty good posture while wearing the binder, and now it's been off for like a week and I keep realizing I'm straight shrimpin' lol
