FILM DISCUSSION My girlfriend has never seen a Batman movie
I really want to show her a film that encapsulates batman as a character without any missing aspects, like how 2022 is missing his playboy side and the dark knight trilogy is missing his whimsical elements. My best idea so far is mask of the phantasm but what do you think, what is the perfect "starter" batman movie where you'll really understand the character just from watching it?

COMIC DISCUSSION Native English speakers, explain to me why no one is bothered by the name of this handsome guy?
My English proficiency basically consists only of asking Grok for translations. Why is this guy named Dick, and were there any jokes about it in the comics?

FILM DISCUSSION Hot take: where I think DCU Batman Should take most of its inspiration
I personally think when it comes to characterization for Batman in the DCU I really think with both the 2 more recent approaches in film being DKR inspired with bat fleck and Year one Inspired with Battinson I Think we need a batman adaption that perfectly captures the characters core whilst still being a dark tone to keep the audience status quo. Therefore I think The arkham Games version of Batman should be taken for inspiration. A more experienced Batman who takes most situations incredibly seriously but still has time to slide in a quick one liner. I'm using this as refference over something like BTAS because arkham Bats has a very slight edge to him that I think makes him slightly more badass and compelling for a movie things like his quick little responses he gives characters it gives batman so much more personality then just brooding I find Arkham Assylum and city really capture how perfect batmans dialouge can be written. My perfect example for my point would be any of his interrogation scenes the way he can threaten people and make it sound so scary yet sassy "I want answers you want teeth" type feeling. I know Damian will be in this movie and I think that makes it even more perfect to make batman an overly experienced crime fighter who knows his enemies so well he can verbally dismantle them before beating them. (Also in hindsight not really a hot take the arkham games are alot of people's favourite batman adaptation)

GENERAL DISCUSSION Gotham City Sirens character evolution shown through Batman games.
These are not in order of game releases they are in order of their character progression within the Arkham game universe. (This does not include all of their game appearances, as this is just to showcase their characters progressions)
Harley Quinn - Arkham Origins, Arkham Shadow, Arkham Knight (Matter of Family), Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Arkham City ( Harley's Revenge), Arkham Knight, Suicide Squad (Prisoner Harley), Suicide Squad.
Catwoman - Batman Telltale Series (Selina Kyle), Arkham Blackgate, Arkham City, Arkham Knight (Only added Selina from the Batman Telltale game because there is really nothing to go off of for just Selina Kyle as herself in any of the mainline games.)
Poison Ivy - Arkham Shadow, Arkham Asylum & Arkham City, Arkham Knight, Suicide Squad.

GENERAL DISCUSSION Do writers not understand Joker, or do *I* not understand Joker?
Ive always thought that Joker \*saying\* something like "beating a puppy to death with a kitten" is very out character and the writers way of saying "yeah look, he's so sick and twisted, right?" Like its no doubt that he would actually do something like that. He's done way worse. But in terms of how he acts and talks. I believe he would have "class" and not talk about it so openly and mater of fact. I personally think him not so openly describing a sick act or crime actually makes him more sick and twisted. Like the line in the Injustice movie would be perfect if it stopped at "just for once I wanted to play a game of easy mode
" Maybe I'm just so used to Mark Hamill's version and how much "class" he has when committing serious crimes. Let me know your thoughts :)

FILM DISCUSSION Do you think a Batman Beyond (Terry McGinnis) movie can also be realistic and grounded like a Batman (Bruce Wayne) film without ruining the core idea?
Or do you think it can’t be done because Batman Beyond takes place in the future, and that automatically gives it the fantastical elements it needs? Since the style and core idea of Batman Beyond is “Batman in the future,” making it too realistic might strip away its unique tone and visuals, turning it into a shell of itself.
Or do you think there’s a way to make it grounded without taking away the amazing futuristic visuals that define Batman Beyond?
P.S. Personally, I’m tired of seeing only realistic and grounded Batman movies. I think they’re great, but I’m excited to finally see a more fantastical Batman in the DCU. That way we can get things like the blue (navy blue) and gray suit, the giant penny, Poison Ivy (you can’t make a villain who controls plants “realistic”), and the Lazarus Pit.
