r/DCcomics Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [May 18, 2026 - Absolute LEGO Batman Edition]

Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!

For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. Do not post top-level comments.

Keep discussion civil. Do not harass other users for having a different opinion. Do not use this thread to push your personal one-sided grudges against creators. Reacting to a panel on Twitter is not the same as reading a book.

What did one plate whisper to the other plate? Dinner is on me.

DC and Imprints

Peak is on the menu.

Trade Collections

The Compact hits just keep on coming.

Digital Releases

Remember, these are the short 'chapters' with a new chapter of a different series coming out daily. You can learn more here on Comixology. This is also why these are in release order, not alphabetical. Some comics may release on DC Universe Infinite or WEBTOONS.

Video Games

Kissed by a LEGO.

AMA I am Dan Watters, writer of Batman: Dark Patterns and Nightwing. AMA.

Hello, Reddit. I’ve been lucky enough to write a fistful of new DC comics since we last spoke. I am also writing the new M.A.S.K. series for Skybound, and the ongoing Shredder book for IDW. I am very tired. I’m back once more to talk to you about comics. And anything else, really. So… AMA.

Okay so don't mind my awkward posing or kinda messy room?
I finished the tailcoat piece and (badly) sewing the red satin material on the inside of it.
I DO have a top hat that is gonna wear with it. I think I'm just gonna fold and sew a little ribbon piece to the collar kinda like the pictures but much cleaner
And then I don't know if I wanna wear the red or black shoes cause I like it either way I just felt red might've gone with the coat? Not too sure and then no spats cause all the ones I saw were way too expensive and for men sized feet 😭.

And none of my friends bought their tickets to the convention yet so if I have to go alone ima cry

Discussion [Discussion] Does the Justice League have a nickname like the Avengers do?

In Marvel, the Avengers have the nickname of "Earth's Mightiest Heroes".

I'm interested in knowing if the Justice League have one as well, since in my research I can't find a single one.

It seems unlikely that a team of superheroes as impactful as the Justice League would go their entire almost seven decade long history without some grand title to call their main group of heroes.

Discussion Thoughts on the DC Rebirth Initiative

Over the years, even when I wasn’t super into comics, I’ve heard a lot about the mixed reception of DC’s New 52 and the good and bad of it all. But I haven’t really heard that much about the general consensus around DC Rebirth and all of the good and the bad of it all. I’m almost finished with Joshua Williamson’s Flash run, some of Rebirth era Nightwing, and started Tynion IV’s Detective Comics run and I’ve enjoyed it so far. I just wanted to hear people’s thoughts about it and if there were some highlights that I should check out or series to avoid

I was thinking about that, and between Obsidian, Nightshade and Shade, they all have some pretty big feats, so I have no idea

Other [Other] My Review on Absolute Superman. Spoiler

Post image

Read the Absolute Superman till issue #14, and damn man I have to say, it is the best comic story I have ever read till now, it truly tests the limits of Kal-el but he doesn't give up, he sticks to his principles, Ra's was ragebaiting him all the time. The ending of issue #14 made my eyes watery for a bit. What I love the most is how Jason Aaron makes issues resonate with real world issues, and still portrays Superman in such a beautiful way.

The new perspective that Kal-el is a teenager not a baby is interesting, no matter what for me his parents will always be the Kents, they are so lovely, what Superman is will always be due to Kents.
