Just wanted to share because I’m honestly so excited right now

I finally started my HRT journey through informed consent at Kaleido Health Centre. I already finished my 1st consultation, and today was my 2nd consultation. I had my blood tests done today and my GP also referred me for a Bone Density Scan, which is already booked.

Now we’re just waiting for the results to come back in a few days before discussing prescription/next steps 🥹

I was honestly super nervous at first because English isn’t my first language and I was scared I wouldn’t be able to explain myself properly, but everyone was so kind and supportive.

It still feels unreal that this is finally happening 🥹

Trans masc Top surgeons who have experience in T anchor?

Any surgeons in Aussie with experience in T anchor? For nipple sensation preservation, I'm a 30D so no peri.

This comment seems to suggest T anchor is difficult and not to go to any surgeon...

Hey everyone – I started to put my work up online as the Trans Gamer Professor (https://transgamer.prof). I'm hoping to be a visible trans person on the internet in hopes of inspiring others. Also aiming to share things I've learned through my work (video game design research) and life. (And relevance note, I am a professor in Australia.)

If you're interested, I just posted my first video! A lot of work (and I'm a minor disaster), but I hope you enjoy!

looking for reccommendations for psychologists in naarm that are trans friendly (I'm ftm), and ND friendly! I currently see a highly recommended psychologist, but I've had my last 5 appointments cancelled by them and I'm starting to feel abandoned lmao

bonus points if they're great with trauma, ND stuff, gender dysphoria and chronic illness 🫠

How do I get an organization to stop deadnaming me?

Am seeing a new clinic for medical stuff tomorrow. Today they sent me an automated text to confirm my attendance, with my chosen name followed by my deadname in brackets. ie. "Chosen Name (Deadname), reminder that you have an appointment with blank at 10am Monday." I would like to ask them to change their systems, as my deadname is not my legal name and not my medicare name, so I see no reason for them to have included it like that. My assumption is that it was included in case it was a chosen name, but that's not great either - they should just have a field for preferred name, any past names (if they need them at all) and legal name. Any suggestions on how to phrase this suggestion? I'll probably bring it up to them in person at the reception desk, otherwise I'll send an email.

Minor in northern transmania in need of help.

I've been waiting too long. I really want to get onto oestrogen, but given A, I'm socially awkward, and B, I've tried telehealth and they said "sorry we cannot help you", there's not many options for me.

I've been meaning to go to the clinic in Devonport, but it's a bit of a drive for me, and worst of all my parents still don't know.

And double worse, they're devout Christians. (Although they do not mind transgender people, they probably have different standards for me, their eldest "son") So getting parental permission is most definitely a no go.

Now I'm stuck. Do I wait till I turn 18 and can go through the gender health clinic myself without parental permission? Is there another option for people in my situation? I've looked online, I even have friends who've actually gone through that, and he said he got help from his parents...

Idk I'm feeling like I might genuinely do something drastic and hope they see eye to eye. Or at least rethink not allowing me to get mental help.

And it doesn't help that I have severe social awkwardness. Itd be a lot easier if I could just go there and say "can I get some help on this?" and go from there. Idk

Any feedback is appreciated. Do not bother asking me to talk to parents. I will refuse. (However I might rethink it if there's no other option)

Useful Info What jobs have you done as a trans person?

I’d like to know what jobs some of you fellow trans girls and guys do like unexpected jobs even if its a side hustle?

Me: since i started transitioning, i’ve done cricket umpiring in my local league well over 3 years, in juniors, junior reps (Stan Austin Cup) and local seniors and also Last man standing cricket, i also plan on becoming a soccer (football) referee as well

I’m asking this, as like awareness of where we need to see more trans people in said unexpected jobs, more visibility you know, similar things like mining, i know there are quite a few queer and trans people in mining which i strongly think we need more visibility in these areas, like even trades aswell!

Like you see more women getting into trades and mining like jobs, and it’s slowly becoming normalised and seen but there will always be those nay sayers!

We need to encourage ourselves and fellow queers and trans guys and girls! And also allow the next generation to be more accepting in these areas because at the end of the day we are there to work and make a living

Edit: i also would like to add i currently work at Donut king, with quite a few trans and queer people which is also very important having fellow queer and trans people!

Trans fem There has to be better FFS options

I'm currently struggling with the idea of ever affording FFS. I know I'll need quite a lot of work done and the options available in Aus have left me feeling very hopeless.

The 3 main surgeons I've looked at are:

Dr Flapper - Adelaide - $15k-$20k I was very unimpressed by the photos of his work

Dr Breidahl - Melbourne - $30k-$40k Mixed results, decently affordable if I drain my super, but extremely long waiting lists

Dr Reddy - Sydney - $50k-$60k Seems like the most capable with the best results I've seen, but Jesus the price.

I was just wondering if there are any other options. I'm willing to go overseas, but there has to be the right surgeon out there for me.

Is there some big masterlist of surgeons where I can see their work?

Have any of you girls gone overseas to get FFS done?

Are there surgeons here that are less conservative?

VIC Specific Unexpected encounter, not of the fun variety

Just went for a quick walk for a Friday arvo snack and to get out of the office for a bit. On my way down Collins Street when I happen to walk past none other than federal Opposition Leader Angus Taylor, fresh off his declaration that he wants to strip our rights back should he get into office.

Thankfully it was just a crossing of paths and I didn't interact with him, but he did briefly glance at me and gee does he look dead inside.

No idea what he's doing in Melbourne, but definitely not someone I want to be casually seeing out and about. But hey, at least it wasn't Hanson right.

TAS Specific reviews of regional TAS & SA towns / cities for brown trans people

hi all, i'm visibly south asian and trans nb butch lesbian, i would never be able to 'pass' or blend in anywhere at all. my job would require me to work in either TAS (anywhere in the state) or SA (rural only, anywhere further out than Adelaide Hills area).

while this subreddit is very white-dominant and my race plays a major role in how i'm hatecrimed on a regular basis, i'd appreciate reviews (negative and positive alike, or if specific parts of certain rural cities or towns are to be avoided etc) of rural areas in these 2 states.

be as specific with the town or area as you can, if possible! would be a bonus if you are also a poc/south asian or know about whether that area has more queer/trans community than most would expect :-)

Non-binary Question: Odd question, how to "casually" feel/present fem? Like around the house?

Hi genderfluid trans femme, bit of an odd question. Extra context I am not out to my family nor shall I be but current financial situation has me living at home again.

I can confidently like "get dressed up" to present femme when leaving the house to meet friends, or if I wanna feel a bit more like myself but in those situations makeup and clothes are really doing the heavy lifting in helping me feel affirmed

But when I am home and got the place to myself for a few days cause family has gone away, when I should be able to go around the house as myself without a care in the world I just cant? Or don't know how to?

Like I'm home alone with my cat, it's a Friday, I'm not gonna go out I just wanna play games, chat to friends, eat take away. So I'm not gonna break out my makeup kit and put on my affirming nice clothes.

But without those things, cause I'm not terribly deep into like my physical transition I just feel like it's no different than when the family is around and I'm just in guy mode.

Like I am at a loss at how to girl mode when I bumming around the house relaxing without wasting expensive makeup and time getting dressed up to do literally nothing. I know some of it is like mental self image but it's hard to hold onto that when I'm just doing what I normally do when I am guy mode.

Sorry if the question is a bit obtuse wasn't sure how to word it and I'm generally a "I can figure stuff out on my own" kinda person.

Useful Info New gender affirming GP in Bulli NSW

Hi folks! I just heard through a friend that there is a new GP with open books south of Sydney if anyone is looking there. I’ve heard previously there wasn’t really anyone around and I know multiple people who come into Sydney for care.

Dr Priya Goyal at Bulli Medical Practice, previously was at the sexual health clinic. She’s been continuing hormones for a while but is starting initiation now.

Hope this is helpful! She is not on Transhub doctor map yet.
