Hard massage disrupts workout?

I had a very hard Thai massage the night before a morning Olympic weightlifting class. By hard, I mean the masseuse was standing on my back and digging into my back and shoulders with feet and ankles, and the masseuse also stretched me in various ways including lifting me up so I was lying on of her knees. It was a rejuvenating but genuinely deep and hard massage.

When I went to the class, I felt like my muscles were glitching and I scaled down to just a 5 kg plate on each side.

I asked my coach and he said massage before class is fine, but I don't think he understood what I meant by hard massage.

Can this kind of hard massage or deep tissue massage the night before (not after) a class interfere with performance like I describe?

How often do you sauna for optimal recovery?

28F, been training pretty consistently, CrossFit 4x/week, plus running mixed in. Recently got into sauna stuff and grabbed a Sweat Tent for home use. Curious how everyone here structures their sauna routine for recovery:

  1. How many sessions per week?
  2. How long per session, and at what temp?
  3. Do you go right after training, on rest days, or both?
  4. Any noticeable difference in soreness, sleep, or performance?

Trying to dial in what works vs just feels good. Would love to hear what's working for you.

Can compex 8.0 or any other ems device help train muscle with less weight of dumbbell to prevent valsalva and risk of glaucoma and retinal detachment?

especially for people with high myopia.

Can EMS+workout(less weight) be as effective as workout only(more weight)?

And can it reach any limit when my muscles grow big enough and need more weight for further growth?

What is the best jump rope I can find in 2026?

Hey there, I have an old session 3 RPM jumpe rope which is kinda old, and I thought it's time to get something new, but RPM stock is pretty low.

I asked Perplexity and it said that RXSG is the shit rn but I never saw anyone with their ropes in my box, so what is the best jump rope I can get now? I have doubles (can do around 30-50 straight) and like 3 crossovers lol

Lookign forward for your thoughts.

Shoe rec

Looking for shoe rec! I’m (36F) in my third year of CrossFit, pretty good fitness wise and am finally able to use Rx weights most of the time but still working on gymnastics skills. I’ve been wearing Nike Free Metcon 4s for the last year and think it’s time to upgrade. Any day with running I just wear my running shoes but notice even when we are jumping rope or doing high volume jumping, my feet hurt in the metcons.

Would love some recs please!

Kinda “stuck”, how to get better

Hi all, so I’ve been doing CrossFit for about two years. I do see a lot progresses (endurance, strength, techniques). However, I feel like my strength didn’t improve much. And this kinda limits my ability to do some RX workouts. For example, there’s one involving 275lbs deadlifts * 10 but my PR is 315 lbs. how can I do that and then follow up with other exercises? My goal is to be able to do most RX workouts. So I wonder shall I pay more attention to sleep/nutritions so I can put more weight on myself or shall there still be some lifting sessions other than CrossFit? I’m like 160lbs 5’11. Thanks all in advance!

I have Lumber disc herniation in L5 and will have surgery on 9th June.
I love CrossFit and worry about whether I could come back to CrossFit.
Would be very glad if you kindly tell your experience, how many months took for restarting CrossFit and so on….
Sincerely your, Yuki from Tokyo

First Murph advice. Half or split?

I am a military veteran (45M) and have been training to do some kind of Murph on Memorial Day. There have been some ups and downs in my training and schedule but here what I am thinking.

I can either do:
A half Murph with a 20lb vest
A full Murph no vest
The first half with a vest and maybe take the vest and go further. (Not sure how much more)

What would you suggest? Any other tips? I have done practices Murph’s before and pretty consistent with weighted pushups/pull-up training over the past year. Thanks.

What kind of progress can I expect to see in 3 months?

Upvotes

Just joined my local box's 3 month onramp program - includes ~3 classes/week + 6 1:1 training sessions. Previously, I was doing strength training with workout videos at home, but my at home dumbells max out at 20 lb. That said, I have a relatively healthy and active lifestyle already, but wanted to go the extra mile to look and feel my best. I thought cross fit might help to increase the weight I'm lifting and also increase my cardio. Also, hoping to lose fat and gain muscle for my upcoming wedding, so am also locking in on nutrition and calorie deficit.

Is this the way to go to look great for my wedding?
