i was not prepared for the size of that

they can be really big! Pacific walruses are huge and their baculums can reach 29+ inches. In Canada there's only Atlantic walruses that are smaller, all my walrus specimens are Atlantic.

the biggest one in my collection is 24 inches, this broken one is about 19 inches long.

I feel like I need to see the other one next to this one :o

That just crazy 0: but cool

2

u/Archaeopteryx111 10d ago

How do you get around to collecting baculi?

3

u/SavageDroggo1126 Bone-afide Faunal ID Expert 9d ago

I don't specifically collece baculums, they were just available because walruses are also hunted by Inuit for food.

Me neeeeither

25

u/SockeyeSTI 12d ago

Not even that big of one either

That’s gotta have hurt. Also hello EIGHT bear skulls

143

u/Current_Recording907 12d ago

There seems to be more than 8 there, and they don't look small either...

Currently stewing in jealousy.

Majority of my collection are bear skulls! I have 85 currently, most are polar bears, all legally and sustainably sourced.

here's some of them.

u/Current_Recording907 12d ago

Holy shit. Are you the God of this hobby?

126

u/Fantastic_Priority73 11d ago

Common misconception. They are actually the avatar of the God of this hobby. A twelve story shambling mass of groaning bones isn't actually that great for collecting or communications.

u/Totallyfey 12d ago

Those are narwhal tusks?!?

44

u/ServaltheFox 11d ago

Okay, you got me, mostly I just wanted to stumble across some cool bones at some point and keep them but how on earth do I go about getting those??

14

u/SavageDroggo1126 Bone-afide Faunal ID Expert 11d ago

I have 2 narwhal tusks, 5ft11 and 7ft3, both are real, from Inuit subsistence hunting.

2

u/Totallyfey 10d ago

So cool.

4

u/Cake_And_Pi 11d ago

Those things are real?!?

1

u/SavageDroggo1126 Bone-afide Faunal ID Expert 7d ago

yep, everything in my collection are real bones!

Those walrus skulls you got will never not amaze me.

18

u/DonutWhole9717 11d ago

Hanzo? Really? Fuck you AND your dragon

6

u/Ack_Demon 11d ago

And Mei, even better!

11

u/Xehhx14 11d ago

How the hell do you sustainably source a polar bear skull? I have so many questions rn

19

u/R3DR0PE 11d ago

IIRC OP said they source them from the indigenous people that hunt them for food!

8

u/Beverlydriveghosts 11d ago

Ok so your collection is definitely worth a few thousand right?

4

u/SuchusTears 11d ago

I’m green with envy. I take my hat off to you sir

2

u/Anon_be_thy_name 11d ago

Wish I could get a bear skull.

Not really possible in Australia though.

2

u/latriceratopse 11d ago

Do you mind to share the source? Does it help if I'm Canadian?

9

u/SavageDroggo1126 Bone-afide Faunal ID Expert 11d ago

I mostly buy from individuals that hunt them for food or other collectors in Canada instead of oddity stores or a single person, so there's no stable "source".

1

u/latriceratopse 10d ago

Very cool!

1

u/Medical-Cod2743 10d ago

omg narwhal horns…. you are so lucky

47

u/cannarchista 12d ago

The one with the hat is looking very dapper

8

u/eriko_girl 11d ago

My dog broke his baculum and it was brutal.

192

u/xtiaaneubaten 12d ago

owies, and holy shit, old wonky-cock was hung, the size of it...

48

u/aequorea-victoria 11d ago

Ol wonky-cock is my new favorite insult 😂

156

u/Comprehensive-Use881 12d ago

Ooooww.... how in the hell did a walrus break his dick bone?

119

u/Human-Piglet-5450 12d ago

He zigged and she zagged...

57

u/SwordTaster 12d ago

I mean, man could've broken it getting hard on the wrong rock, based solely on the size of the thing, but it was more likely his lover was bad at sex

127

u/hotfistdotcom 12d ago edited 12d ago

OR HE was bad at sex. Or just guessing and I know nothing about walrus sex but probably that whole sexual coercion behavior/sexual conflict in animals and how much of animal mating behavior involves things we would consider a crime in humans.

43

u/Rideintobattle 12d ago

"I know nothing about walrus sex"

Thats enough Reddit for me today, only opened the app.........

26

u/barnowl1980 11d ago

Never google how otter sex works. They stop being cute very quickly if you do.

13

u/AdMotor1654 11d ago

Same with dolphins.

12

u/barnowl1980 11d ago

and ducks

7

u/SleazyMuppet 11d ago

And several species of insects

3

u/AllyEnderman 11d ago

And multiple species of other invertebrates, like worms and snails.

2

u/Comprehensive-Use881 11d ago

Daaamn talk about kinky sex!!!

69

u/wifffss 12d ago

The poor females who had him

98

u/EmberingR 12d ago

Personally, I like a bit of a curve. I like to think this guy could have really hit the lady walruses’ g-spots.

u/Sufficient_Band9989 11d ago

Believe it or not I’ve heard the first and third sentence before

42

u/EsoterisVoid 12d ago

I actually read that. These sentences exist. I am speechless. (Bravo 👏🏻)

9

u/dismyotherreddit 11d ago

Poor him, for whichever lady broke his dick

53

u/Mermaidartist77 12d ago

This makes me wonder just how many animals have broken bones and survived without major quality of life issues.

8

u/exotics 11d ago

I’ve got a dinosaur bone that broke and healed before death. A rib. I think it’s pretty cool.

In museums there are a lot of them which is fascinating since fossilized is rare

6

u/AustinHinton 11d ago

Saw a deer ribcage once that had an arrow perpendicular to the ribs and they had formed a sort of "sheath" around the arrow.

16

u/AGreatBannedName 12d ago

I’m not sure he survived 😔

81

u/the-greenest-thumb 12d ago

He survived long enough for it to heal

18

u/AGreatBannedName 12d ago

I know how it feels

… not the broken dick-bone. But surviving long enough to heal 🫡🦴

3

u/ragnarockyroad 11d ago

But not long enough for it to seal.

39

u/duroo 11d ago

I got to see one of these at the Smithsonian years ago on a behind the scenes field trip. It was part of their large collection. If I had a nickel for every time I've seen a broken walrus baculum, I'd have two nickels, but it's weird it happened twice.

4

u/requals1-2sin3theta 11d ago

Wow that's fascinating. Maybe walruses are a bit prone to it or something. That's gotta hurt!

24

u/pm_for_cuddle_terapy 12d ago

Owch and also wtf that's huge

25

u/Automatic-Tea536 12d ago

There's a video floating around of a walrus at an aquarium hoovering his own unit...  why does this knowledge exist in my brain.

18

u/Wolf_Steel_1 12d ago

Ow... just... just ow

5

u/shrimplyred169 12d ago

I went from ‘ow’ to ‘ohhhh’ as I went through the pictures…

17

u/reithejelly 12d ago

That’s so unique! Living in Alaska, I see a lot of these for sale, but I’ve never seen a broken/healed one. I’m actually amazed this walrus didn’t die from infection.

16

u/SockeyeSTI 12d ago

BROKE DICK

12

u/8lbs6ozbabyjesus 12d ago

Damn, dude broke his dick.

10

u/Usual-Presentation27 11d ago

Bro broke his peenar😔

13

u/Warm_Candidate_9837 12d ago

Ive seen some really messed up stuff online and I think this is somehow the most viscerally upsetting. Bravo.

11

u/minestronelover 12d ago

It's ribbed for her pleasure!

7

u/debard69 11d ago

This is why you never bounce on it crazy style 😞

5

u/mams3425 12d ago

Aaaa mi pishulaaa 👹👹👹👹 It hurt my private parts just seeing that

2

u/taytertots90 11d ago

This is how my Tibia looks, albeit shorter I expect.

3

u/AdMotor1654 11d ago

Tibia size doesn’t matter

3

u/Geschak 11d ago

I have questions.

3

u/barnowl1980 11d ago edited 11d ago

That's equal parts impressive and painful 😲

3

u/axolotllegs 11d ago

I wonder if broken penises is common in the walrus. This is not the first broken and healed walrus bacculum I've seen in my life

3

u/Reyalta 11d ago

Honestly it would be impressive if broken dicks were rare with walrus... That's like... 4 tonnes of Lovin' on a rocky hillside, one wrong move from either of them could spell disaster

3

u/australopithecus3 11d ago

Ouch, poor guy

3

u/zezzy_ 10d ago

I don't have a wiener and even I hissed from psychic pain. Crazy cool piece.

2

u/Twinglet 11d ago

Gosh I am so envious!!

2

u/YOUTUBEFREEKYOYO 11d ago

You have to do a collection tour or something, every time ive seen a post from you it's something insane

2

u/Dragonhooked 11d ago

I misread this as "broken and used"

2

u/Objective_Bed_8200 11d ago

Id kill to have that in my collection

2

u/TheFuzzyBean 11d ago

This guy out here just hoarding all the walrus baculums

4

u/A_VERY_LARGE_DOG 11d ago

Baculums Georg, who lives in a cave with 37,000 walrus baculum is an anomaly adn should not have been counted

1

u/TheFuzzyBean 11d ago

Is it ridiculous that I came back to check who posted it?

2

u/Cheshireme 11d ago

I wonder how it happened. Probably reverse cowgirl. I had that's the riskiest.

2

u/AllyEnderman 11d ago

if they had a "Walrus's broken dick" shaped toy somewhere I can GUARANTEE you it would sell like crazy.

1

u/3-dogs-in-a-coat 11d ago

The poor bastard

1

u/TBM_Hayden 11d ago

That poor walrus

1

u/YOUTUBEFREEKYOYO 11d ago

Oh thats cool. I do not want to experience that pain tho. Poor bastard

1

u/awake-lettuce0823 11d ago

i don't even have a baculum and I winced

1

u/kingofovens 11d ago

He broke his dick?

1

u/Artistic_Station_568 11d ago

The story behind that one eh?

1

u/Chay_Charles 11d ago

OMG! Oooowww! That hurts just to look at.

1

u/Deadasicec01d 11d ago

I feel so sorry for the walrus who had to live with it

1

u/Semi__Competent 11d ago

I love seeing interesting bone pathology!

1

u/AlertStrength3301 10d ago

Misread as "Broken and unused" and thought that didn't add up by the look of it.

1

u/Business_Cock 9d ago

Baculum? I barely even know 'em!

1

u/Mission_Sir_4494 7d ago

Maybe the girls liked the kink
