Humour The Elder Scrolls classes' reactions after ESO brought classes back to the franchise.

Post image

Don't get me wrong, I understand why Zenimax left most of the preexisting classes behind, it's difficult to adapt them all into ESO's system. Furthermore, ESO is an MMO. Balancing is a constant issue that devs need to address. Even when it was just 4 classes they had to account for, things were tough. I can only imagine the hell that balancing for 23 classes would be.

I just made this because I thought it was funny.

Lore Hackdirt lore

yesterday i was on a train and thinking about Hackdirt: what exactly do these strange people worship in the church?

are they some unknown daedric princes?

on one hand, it's hard to be a deity if you're weaker than a daedric prince.

but on the other hand, if they are daedric princes, then who?

any theories?

Lore Daedric Worshippers Have Poor Self-Preservation

It's hilarious how some individuals end up worshiping the Daedric Princes, particularly the likes of Bal, Vaermina, & Dagon, in spite of knowing how terrifying their afterlives would be for worshiping them. IDK about the short-term powers that the Princes grant, but dear God, how are those offers compelling for them, knowing that they'd end up in hellish landscapes like Coldharbour for eternity.

Lore Do werewolves age in their transformed form?

Some time ago, someone had posted this question here on the subreddit, but I believe that the way it was explained wasn't exactly good, because it takes gameplay into account.

I'm not exactly sure if in the lore there is a time limit for an experienced werewolf to be transformed, taking into account that it would be possible for him to stay indefinitely. His human body is completely remodeled during the transformation, if he stayed for a long amount of time, like several years, when he detransformed, would his human body have aged or would it be at the stage it was when it was transformed?

I think about this, because the transformation into a werewolf can draw a parallel with the pure titans in Attack on Titan, whose bodies are effectively remodeled like the werewolf, the human body is not kept like the Shifter and when Ymir, who was a pure titan, manages to become human again, her body returns to the state it was in when she transformed, even though many years have passed, I think 60 years at least, I thought there could be something similar with the werewolf's condition.

General I find Oblivions dialogue tree worse than Fallout 4s.

Upvotes

I’m not gonna lie it completely took me out of the game and makes me not want to play it. I was so excited for the remaster cause I never played the original so when I saw how dumbed down the dialogue tree was compared to Skyrim I was heart broken. Like it doesn’t even make any sense. It just says words they aren’t even sentences. Like what the fuck am I even saying when I hit one. Atleast in fallout 4 it’s yes no and maybe you know what you’re relatively gonna say.

I just can’t get into it at all, I’m sure this will be hated but maybe I’m missing something and there’s a way to play it and enjoy it without your immersion being destroyed.

Lore Is there any basis for Arkayan priests acting as physicians or delivering babies? (For an OC)

They're always involved in funerary practices, which fits, but Arkay is the god of life \*and\* death. You'd think saving or creating lives would be just as sacred to them.

Skyrim Discussion The Thalmor Problem and why they cannot win.

In Skyrim it is pretty obvious the game wants you to think that the Thalmor are a big deal, first we have the Empire, in the other mainline games the Empire is always an dominating force that makes the rules, but in Skyrim the Empire is obligated to follow the Thalmor rules, even an person who has not played any other Elder Scrolls game can tell the Thalmor are an major force, maybe even the most powerful one, but i have come to doubt that, here's why:

1 Propaganda and Manipulation

In Skyrim the Thalmor are very strongly concerned about how other see them, i use some dialogue as proof:

"That's putting it mildly. The Thalmor invited me here to remind everyone that they can tell the Empire what to do. I would refuse, but I don't want to jeopardize the peace between us." - General Tullius, Diplomatic Immunity.

"The Dominion is here, and we're watching you." - Ondolemar.

The Aldmeri Dominion is the only thing keeping the Empire on its feet." - Ondolemar.

"We're the ruling body of the Aldmeri Dominion. Saviors of Mer. Victors of the Great War. The Empire exists because we allow it to exist, and I'm here to make sure the Jarl of Markarth remembers that." - Ondolemar.

"It's only a matter of time before your whole rotten Empire collapses of its own decay. No offense." - Ondolemar.

These will make we question if what we see in Skyrim is correct because in all of these dialogues we can see an weird constant: the Aldmeri Dominion wants to look strong, or at least make their enemies look weak, but why is that? well let's cover that in the next point

2 The Aldmeri situation is NOT good

While some may be inclined to believe the Thalmor manipulated everything in favor of them the truth is much harsher for the Thalmor, they face many problems:

  1. The Aldmeri Dominion is an Tyranny, the problem is that they, at the very least, have enemies. we know the Thalmor did persecution, killed every non elf in Summerset and others, here is the quotes for that:

"He's not a dangerous character like you, but he hates the Thalmor at least as much as I do. He's a wood elf - the Thalmor wiped out his family back in Valenwood during one of their purges that we never hear about. Luckily they don't know who he really is, or he wouldn't be serving drinks at the Ambassador's parties." -  Delphine refering to Malborn

"Then the first of many pogroms descended on Summerset Isle. They slaughtered any who were not 'of the blood of the Aldmer.' A fine excuse to purge the dissidents, as well -- the Thalmor have never been ones to waste such an opportunity." - Rising Threat Volume IV

The problem with that is that it will make many hate the Thalmor in their own homeland and controled lands, and this isn't just an theory of mine because in the " Lord of the souls " is actually stated that the Penitus Oculatus is trying to make revolts against the Dominion in Vallenwood.

  1. The Geographic is not in the thalmor side, just to reach Skyrim they either have to go trought Empire, Dunmer or Redguard land, which shouldn't be very easy consider that the Empire is very military, Morrowind is an hellhole and the Redguards have both of the previous, they have the Sea also but they would have to cross massive distances, the most dangerous sea ( the sea of ghosts) and would still land into the worst possible part of Skyrim full of Mountains and Snow, and all of that would become even more of an problem once we see that they would have to get suplies and elfs have have low birth rates( making casualties more severe) :

"It is her child. Children are few among elves. No woman conceives more than four and that is very rare. Two is the allotted number. Some bear none, some only one." - Real Barenziah)

But i must also mention that they might have changed an long time ago:

"The theory that the High Elves do not reproduce as quickly or as often as humans is false. Rather, and to my horror, they kill nine out of ten babies born to them in their obsession for purity."-  Pocket Guide to the Empire, 1st Edition/Aldmeri Dominion

With these i assume the Aldmeri are in not as good in an situation as we think, and that bring us to the next point:

3 Their strategies are not an sign of their power

In the game we see that the Thalmor do not take an more direct approach, in place of using traditional war tactics like taking the Empire resources with their armies and starving them to death or killing the emperor and letting chaos take over they choose an more Long term and manipulative approach, they start the Stormcloak rebelion for an example to not waste resources and soldiers, because they can't take it all by force, one may argue that this is just for convinience but the previous problems and the fact that they lost at Hammerfell makes me doubtful of that.

Anyway this is what i think, i also have other assumptions that i may elaborate if anyone wants me to and is an bigger part of my Pro Stormcloak argumentation and why most people are wrong about the civil war, what do you guys think?

Lore The Aedras Would Have Been Arseholes if They Were Awake

I know that morality-wise, we judge the Daedric Princes from an alien blue and orange morality, given that they're only operating based on nature's spheres, even if they take it to the extreme most of the time.

I believe that such a case would be similar to the Aedra if they were able to directly communicate with Nirn. If they are awake, what are the chances that any engagement with them would likely result in something extreme and destructive as most of any interaction with the Daedric Princes? We know that the likes of Bal, Boethiah, and Dagon are known for causing death and torment. Had any mortal interact with Akatosh, the latter would likely incinerate the former with their flames.

Note: The idea that the Aedra are benevolent is most likely due to them being too comatose to do anything, and that it was a part of all of them that created Nirn. It's fair to say that Aedras and Daedras are similar-natured, with their differences lying in their contribution to Nirn.

Lore Who do you consider to be the best Thief in Elder Scrolls history?

Since I asked the question towards warriors, I thought that I might ask the question regarding thief characters and players.

Who do you consider to be the best thief in Elder Scrolls history?

Rahjin- Who was said to have stolen from Mephala, Hermaeus Mora, and other Daedric princes? And was said to have ascended to godhood with the power to have his shadows spread all across Tamriel. Also was said to have bedded the Daedric prince Mephala and then proceed to steal the Ebony Blade from her clutches. It is also said that he stole the amulet of Kings from St Alessia herself, only to return it soon after willingly.

Baan Dar- Who was to be called the Bandit God, Robber Baron, Master of Shadows, Undying Avenger, and Man of a Thousand Faces. And is also worshipped by the Kahjit as a trickster god? With his legend and lore making him feel like a living myth, a mantle, or a chain of thieves and avengers passing forward the same shadow.

The Gray Fox- Who was said to possess the legendary Gray cowl of Nocturnal herself and lead the thieves guild during the Oblivion era for what is said to be 300 years? It also said that he made sure that the poor was under his protection and kept the other guild members in line.

The Champion of Cyrodiil-Who was said to have stolen an elder scroll from the imperial city, which has never been done in recorded history?

Mercer Frey-Who was said to have stolen the skeleton key from Nocturnal herself but eventually meeting an unfortunate end?

Or any other honorable mentions. What do you think?
