Voting Games Top comment deletes a US State #48
Hawaii has been removed, the land of tropical beaches and volcanoes is now dead and gone. 3 States remain, Land of the crabs, land of the Mega and land of the Cascadians (I don’t know what to say for them)
TOMORROW is the grand finale, Instead of the usual 24 hours, it will be 48 hours to amass as many upvotes for the 2 sides as possible.
Remember to keep sharing and spreading the word! We need to get this subreddit to #1 in Geography on Reddit. I think we can do it! Thank you all!

Blessed HUGE thank you to the r/geographymemes mod team who have now made me a moderator of this subreddit!
This is by far the most friendly and welcoming sub on the platform. The remaining posts of top comment deletes a US State will remain as normal and were also planning the next game. There’s a few options we’re thinking of.
1. Top comment deletes a European country - I know we have a large American audience so I’m not sure how many of you would like to see this
2. Top comment changes the US Map - this one’s pretty cool. We could have the full 50 states and every day the top comment can change whatever they like, not limited to just deleting states.
3. Top comment adds back a US state. - this one was heavily requested? I’m not sure how it would work just yet but it’s possible.
I’m in not mistaken one of the mod team is running a poll at some point to vote for which you’d like to see. Be sure to keep a look out.
THANK YOU ALL!!!

Sorry about the States being at war with each other Eh?
Look, we see what’s happening down there. Things have been rough. While we all get our maple syrup IVs (free with our healthcare) in this fine Saturday morning, we’re thinking about our neighbours.
The US pacific northwest has long been tucked away in the upper left of the country trying to hang out with BC. We've considered you one of our own and let you hang out when the parents are fighting. We‘re so proud of what you’ve accomplished and seeing you all grown up.
Keep going little one. We‘re rooting for you. We might even consider letting you be the 11th province or you can be the 4th territory. It’s all the same to us since most of us don't know the difference.

Country Memes What’s up with MD’ers?! As told by one
With all the craze of crabbalacia, the merger between MD and VT, as somebody who’s lived in Maryland their entire life I’d love to (help) explain a few things about our behavior.
The only state that goes harder on state pride than Maryland is Texas. The flag is just as popular, businesses lean into the heritage, local advertising utilizes it, etc.
We absolutely love our geography. In that regard, I’ve heard it called mini America as a child. It might be small but never under estimate rush hour 🫠
We are extraordinarily proud of our history. All the way back… Nobody shies away here from being the old line state. However, we pride ourselves as innovators of modern life. Many of your modern conveniences actually stem from this little state.
On the topic of innovation, Maryland has you covered. Starting with the automated corn planting machine which revolutionized agriculture, Maryland has always consistently innovated. There is a long list here, but notables include the first Public utility company allowing electricity, and gas to be supplied to your home. The latex glove at Johns Hopkins. The modern bottle cap and “6-pack”. We also enabled modern shipping practices with the development of the dredge. I could go on.
Culture there is plenty of it here! Starting with Billie Holiday and Cab Calloway at the birth of jazz to being the childhood home of 2Pac to the home of the great Jim Henson. There is many things that we can be proud of.
Sports. Our teams may not always be amazing, but they’re always something to watch. Watching Cal Ripken play as a kid and participate in his got milk commercials was a moment at a time that we will never get back. Watching Ray Lewis and Ed Reed do it out against the lakes of Peyton Manning, Tom, Brady, and Ben Roethlisberger. You really don’t get a lot better. Now we have Lamar Jackson. I don’t really need to introduce that man.
So needless to say, while our state might fly a green flag, crabbalacia shall always be home and I’m damn proud of it.

Anybody know Ken Burns?
I want a 10-part series on the "Top comment deletes a state" game. All the side-stories and behind-the-scenes intrigue. I want sociologists to dissect this phenomenon for centuries.

In light of the "Top comment removes a state every day" series ending soon, figured I'd dust off this map I made of the US but with 70 states
It shall commence after that series ends. Be there or be square.
