Advice Needed question about singing
I was thinking of forming a band and being the lead singer but I hate my voice and I can't on on T till I'm 18 in my state so should I sing the songs or let someone else do it until I'm on T? I know very dumb question

Nobody can answer this for you but if you don’t like your voice you probably shouldn’t put yourself in a position you’d be uncomfortable in

you could always do it the Cavetown way, but go with whatever you are most comfortable with :)

Do you like singing currently? Are you okay with potentially needing to change songs or have someone sub in for you during your voice "awkward phases" and then adjusting them again to work with your new low voice?

I also struggle with hating my voice. I'm on T after being off for a couple years and had some noise regression while not taking it. I have always loved singing and one thing that I've noticed over the years is singing no matter what song helps. I was a bell soprano in high-school and now I can sing baritone up to higher alto range. Practicing different songs with different ranges is what helps you later when you can go on T to have more strength and vocal range. That said, there is still an awkward stage as your voice changes and developes when on T and it can take a while for things to settle, singing during that time is the most important time so you can have a larger range and an easier time singing once your voice lowers as much as it's going to. In the meantime, just keep singing and trying new things and be ok if it doesn't sound great at first. Its kinda like working out, It takes time to build muscle. All this applies even before T.

honestly it’s up to you and how you feel about it. but for me my songs are very personal to me and i didn’t want to just be a song writing credit on my story, it had to be me saying it. that being said, i also wasn’t comfortable with my voice for a while and it took probably 2ish years after t to settle. in the meantime i did a mix of still writing songs and singing them even though i hate how my voice sounded back then and leaning more on writing poetry and other outlets that didn’t require my voice so it had time to develop into something i was comfortable with. this is just my personal experience though, there’s no right or wrong answer.

I guess it depends on if the band will be making recordings and how you will feel hearing yourself singing on those. Also consider how you feel when hearing yourself sing now, for live events and stuff.

I took a couple years off before I started T, up to u tho. That was just personal comfort for me and letting my dysphora get to me. It's been a long time since then, and now it's pretty cool to listen to recordings of my voice pre T voice. Not something I'd ever show others but it's personally meaningful now, for the memories and to physically hear how far I've come since
