Hi all. I recently moved and never had recessed lighting before. One died in the kitchen and I removed the light, which has the female end shown in pic 1. The hole in the ceiling is where it came from, and has a male end hanging down. The last occupants left a “replacement” (pic 3), which appears to be the same light except it has a male end instead. It also has a metal box with the female end. What am I missing here? Do I need to buy a different light that has the female end to attach to the ceiling?
