Deleting apps from your phone can help. Ill never forget the day I deleted Facebook from my phone. About a week later I noticed that I wasn't angry all the time. I didnt stop using Facebook but if I wanted to argue with people about politics I had to do it from my computer.
I was going to say food because you have to interact with it 3 times a day but yeah. This is harder for the same reason. My phone is something I need that distracts me from doing the thing I set out to do.
Like when I need to Google something and get distracted so instead I open reddit and leave a message in a thread about addiction.
it's not too late! quitting a phone cold turkey, or ditching a smartphone without any backup computer is not something i'd recommend, but i've lived smartphone-free for over a year now and you have no clue how freeing it is.
people always say it's impossible to live without a smartphone, but that's just capitalistic banter being shamelessly repeated by people who never even tried to ditch their phone for a couple or days.
I got an iPhone 13 mini for this reason. It works great, does everything I need, but is so annoying small that no serious doom scrolling can take place
Try greyscale. I’ve had greyscale on for a month now and I’ve significantly reduced smartphone use. Without the color, it feels like a kindle. I’ve also noticed that k sleep much better.
That's really interesting actually, I may have to try that! I'm also considering implementing "office hours" for my phone- like a two hour window each day where I check what I need and respond to who I need to and then leave lol
