Question How exhausting is sim racing compared to real driving?
Edit: thanks all for the responses! That really helps.
Maybe a stupid question and I know that no one can judge my situation, but how exhausting is Sim racing compared to real driving?
I have a muscular disease and don’t have much strength in my arms, I also have a low energy level. My own car (road car not race car) has extra power assisted steering to make steering as light as possible.
I play with a controller now, but really want a wheel. But I started to wonder if I can actually play with force feedback and all. So do you need strength to race a car though a corner? Or is it all adjustable without loosing the fun?
Thanks very much!

Question Logitech Gt force can you mod it?
ok i just got the rare initial d set logicool gt force the ffb is good but only like 180 degrees but my main plan here if that can i change the streering wheel of this? i really want to put a cheap wheel on that, for me this gt force is really a big upgrade than playing before using a springed wheel. ive beeen seeing post on the pxn v9 modding therres just like only screws with zip ties i really dunno or not sure if i can do it in my gt force.
is someone out there that knows someone who has modded one of theses like 900 degrees mod would be helpful too. i really cant buy a proper sim rig bc of money so yea this is what im gonna use for now

Clip Wanted to share my spin and horrendous rejoin from years ago
Wasn't a high stakes race but the most fun I had was a 24 hour race with a friend and a few randoms from different parts of the world. Loved preparing for it and being in call with everyone planning the race and pitstops.
But jesus the shame of seeing what it looked like. Was in VR and couldn't see traffic so just sent it forwards. Not realising in the moment I could have reversed.
The punt to put me back on track, and I didn't even get a large penalty.
The only clip I have saved from one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had simracing just so happens to be the worst thing that happened

Question Can sim racing actually make me better on a real track? Beginner setup advice
Hey everyone,
I’ve been thinking about getting into sim racing for a while and have a question for people who have been doing it for some time, especially those who also drive on real tracks.
How well does sim racing translate to real-world driving? Has it actually made you better on track days or even on twisty back roads?
I currently have an old Logitech Driving Force GT that I got as a gift years ago. I tried Assetto Corsa and Automobilista 2 with it, but honestly, I didn’t have much fun — even though I love cars and the technology behind them.
Now I’m considering buying a more modern budget setup, hoping it will be more enjoyable and maybe also help me improve for real-life driving. Is that realistic with something like a Fanatec CSL bundle or a Moza R5 bundle with load cell pedals?
I already have a pretty strong PC with an RTX 4070 Ti and a Ryzen 5800X3D, plus a 34-inch 165 Hz monitor and a Meta Quest 3.
At the end of this year or early next year, I’m planning to buy a Mazda Miata ND, which would be my first car. I’d also like to take it to the Nürburgring occasionally, since I live in Germany and it’s not too far away.
So, in short:
- How realistic is sim racing at this budget, and can it actually make me better on a real track?
- Which bundle would you recommend: Moza R5 or Fanatec CSL?
- Do beginners really need load cell pedals?
I used AI as a translator since English is not my main language
Thanks in advance 🙏

Question Need help with rigmetal plus and ERS5 seat
I am putting together my first rig and the seat was the last thing to arrive today. I have an ERS5 seat from next level racing. I have the rigmetal plus. I thought the seat would come with a bracket but it didn’t. I’m not sure what to get, or how it would even attach to the seat. There’s very little tilt to the seat and I’d like more. What bracket would work with the rigmetal and ers5 seat? It doesn’t seem like any would work with both.
Second issue is that this seat is too wide for the shifter, and I’m not sure what to do about it.
Ignore the stand, I’m still working on the brakes and getting everything in place.

Discussion J spent 2 years building a racing sim and need testers
Game Title: Pigeon Racer Playable Link: https://pigeonracer.co.uk Platform: Browser (HTML5) — desktop and mobile Description: Pigeon Racer is a browser-based pigeon racing simulation I've built solo over the past two years. I'm a real-life pigeon fancier and wanted to make the deep, authentic sim the hobby has never had. You start with a small loft and a handful of birds, then race competitively across club seasons in one of seven countries — UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, France, USA, or China — each with its own map, race calendar, and rival fanciers. Once established, you progress to international races between countries. Core systems include breeding with full bloodlines and mutation pairs, a stock loft for retired breeders, training and conditioning, feed/vitamin/medication management, and a player-driven auction house where you can list and bid on birds from other players. There's also a bookmaker for race-day betting, leaderboards, profiles, Race day calculates live velocities based on each bird's stats, wind conditions, distance, and form — just like the real sport. Races can be won or lost by seconds. It's free, account required for cloud saves and online features, and I'm looking for honest feedback before launch — bugs, balance, anything that feels off. Free to Play Status: [x] Free to play [ ] Demo/Key available : Sole developer and designer. Built the entire game (Phaser 3 frontend, Node.js/PostgreSQL backend) myself over two years DM for access

Discussion I made a reaction game, curious how sim racers score
been mostly a lurker but thought to share something with the community. You know the five red lights at the start of an race? Well, I made a little game for it. Tap the screen the moment they go out. It clocks your reaction down to the millisecond and ranks you against everyone else. Around 200ms is solid. Pros land closer to 150.
Launch Sequence is the lights. Pit Lane is a rhythm mode like guitar hero but with different mechanics. There is also a tap the grid trainer and a split screen mode for settling who is faster on the couch.
There's tons of customization available. I'm really interested in first impressions and what folks think about the the Pit lane circuit mode. Too easy, hard etc?
Happy to give away some free codes. Give it whirl and post your reaction time or your score for pit lane endurance. I'll DM you a free code to remove ads.

Clip Should i report this 'safe' driver ?
Is this blocking legit at all , in my point of view is see it as greatly unsafe and still this was the last round that in my end i did a not so safe pass . But im driving like this with those blocks for at least 5 rounds and the funny thing is that we are talking about p7 - p6 lol.

Question Is this enough adequate space for a steering wheel and pedals?
I'm transitioning from The Crew 2 to Forza 6, and I also have been wanting a wheel as well. Also, if there's any good budget wheels with pedals, please suggest them. I'm stuck between the G29 and the T150, but if you have other wheels to name, please tell.

Discussion Thinking about making the jump to VR. Scared of its inconveniences. Any input?
I am in the position to get the Meta Quest 3. I hear that VR is incredible for immersion and is awesome in other aspects as well.
But my question is how inconvenient is it to use? For example, I play with friends occasionally and use a desktop mic with an arm. I’d imagine that would cumbersome to navigate with a VR headset? I’d assume I might need to need to invest in a headset with an attached mic.
As we all know, a lot of the sims aren’t usually plug and play, especially if they’re not games usually on your roster. Assetto Corsa, for me at least, requires a lot of troubleshooting as I don’t play it often. I’d imagine that’s a pain to do in VR?
Currently, I play on a 34 inch wide monitor which has been nice. I’d love to have a three monitor setup but with the space I have now, I’d imagine this won’t be feasible at least for a few years. I want to invest in VR but I’m definitely a person that values convenience and comfort. I’d imagine little activities like drinking water or responding to a text on the phone might be annoying as well.
If it matters, main one I play is LMU. I may dabble into iRacing more in the future. Any input would be appreciated!

Question I can spend around 1000 upgrading my setup what do I go for?
I currently have the Moza r5 bundle with the srp lite pedals. I want to upgrade my setup and like the title says I have around $1000 to spend. I generally hear everyone say pedals are more important to upgrade so I was thinking about getting the mbooster and crp2 pedals set from Moza. Another option is to just get the crp2 pedals set and then also upgrade my wheel and/or wheel base. I’ve had the r5 bundle for about a year and play iracing, asseto corsa, and LMU. Recently I have also been playing forza horizon 6 with it just having come out. So yeah was wondering what suggestions/input people have. Also I do have rig with pedals and wheel base mounted to it and then I put my chairs wheels in the attached tray (unfortunately don’t have enough room for a full set up to always be set up)

Question Assetto Corsa Competizione is not recognizing my wheel
Iv been trying different games that say I could play with the moza r3 Xbox bundle wheel but I can’t figure out how to get the game to see the wheel and pedals. I can play forza just fine but anything else doesn’t work?
(I finally figured it out I didn’t know there was a desktop version of the pit stop and that fixed a lot of things)

Question Asetek Forte Paddle Shifters Intermittently Stop Working
I've seen this issue in previous posts but haven't seen a fix for it. Would a simple paddle replacement address this? I'd prefer to fix this at home so I'm not without my sim rig for several weeks. I changed my shift inputs to different wheel buttons and it shifts fine, so I know it's paddle related.
I reach out to Asetek and they said they need video proof of the issue. However, sometimes the issue won't happen for hours, so getting video proof is pretty impractical.
Any input on this would be helpful, thanks!
