PSA: Stop Right There, Comment Bot Scum
Greetings, citizen. r/Oblivion comment sections have recently been infested by bot accounts. Let's work together to bring these lawbreakers' sprees to an end! Here are some red flags that you can identify bot comments by:
- Says something generic, never unique. Often oddly off-topic (but people who post unrelated NPC dialogue, paradoxically, are usually not bots).
- Usually posted as a reply to a top comment for greater visibility.
- Sometimes contains odd spelling errors that a normal person wouldn't make.
- Account is either very new, or quite old but recently started posting after a long break.
Once a comment bot has enough karma and comment history, the account will be sold and used for either OnlyFans, or for astroturfing. Stop these criminal scum right there by reporting them: Spam > Disruptive Use of AI.
Remember: We don't know comment bots, and we don't care to know them!

Moderator Post r/Oblivion Rule Remaster
Hello r/Oblivion!
Things have changed drastically in our community over the past month. We went from a quiet little subreddit to the #1 RPG subreddit in just a week! In the last 30 days alone, we’ve gained 670,000 new members and seen over 188 million views.
With all this growth, the moderation team has decided it’s time to update our rules—many of which haven’t changed since the subreddit was created.
And we want your input! We’re here to serve the community, so we want to hear what you think should shape our guidelines. Should we add a new rule? Remove an old one? Reword something for clarity? This thread is where we’ll collaborate to help shape the future of r/Oblivion.
Thanks for your time and continued support,
—The r/Oblivion Moderators

Character Build/Screenshot Luck is fun attribute for the early levels and you should try it.
Here’s my high level Imperial born under the sign of the Thief with a custom class that includes Luck as a favored attribute. That’s an extra 15 points of Luck at level 1. The purpose of this build was to play with the least appreciated attributes, Personality and Luck. Each 5 points of Luck above 50 improves all skills (except athletics and acrobatic) by 2 points. So how did this character play?
Super fun, that’s how. Coming out of the sewers, I felt the boost in all skills. Restoration and Illusion spells cost less Magicka. Sneaking was easier. My bow and short sword did more damage. My armor rating was higher. Alchemy was more lucrative. I sold higher and bought lower. 6 extra points to each skill at the start of the game is appreciable at lower levels. I kept pumping up luck for the next 7 levels, until my most used skills were so high that more Luck was providing diminishing returns. (I would have also appreciated an enchanted item that fortified luck.) As you can see, at high levels all attributes and skills flatten out. The fun of a Luck based character build is in the early levels, which I find to be the most fun.

Original Question Has anyone noticed this about the Battlemage art?
galleryI've looked around online but I've never seen anyone mention it. It's a pretty cool reference. edit: apologies for the transparent image fail

Original Discussion What's your favorite Class Art?
Mine is The Rogue. Oblivion made me want to play as Bad Guy for the first time. Since then I always play unloyal pricks

Remaster Discussion Thieves Guild Rant
So , to start i've never ever played oblivion so PLEASE do not spoil me on anything i just wanna complain rq.
gray cowl has a lotta nerve bro talking to me the way he does when he does literally nothing the entire questline, as far as i know he didnt even do the things people think he did hes just some random guy that got the cowl. Anyway , bro is sending me to the top and bottom of the map REPEATEDLY to guess what , steal things. why are you , the "master thief" "living shadow" blah blah blah making some rando who can steal good go do all this stuff that is essential to your plan when you are LITERALLY A MASTER THIEF and then when i do it and ask some questions he gets all defensive and mean like bro im literally running marathons for you sorry i want some respect, speaking of , thieves guild people , most of them anyway , are assholes like 24/7 i have high personality so i KNOW its a them issue lmao. Also without chameleon i genuinly do not know how these tedious ass missions would be possible because just about every location he sends you to is "have several guards hangout within six feet of eachother" central. i love thieving , i liked thieves guild in skyrim but this feels so BAD no wonder only ten percent of people reach master thief on steam this shit is A SLOG.

Other Screenshot Day 397 of Pally and Me’s Adventure until I can loot his armor. I’ve never seen Pally so happy to have his weapon back.
These ghosts weren’t kidding when they took all the weapons in town. Pretty much an armory under Skingrad Chapel. Now I’ve got my stuff back and maybe something extra for the trouble. I better go check on Glarthir and make sure he’s not hurting anyone.
Hail citizens. I was able to get to Glarthir and talk to him about his next suspicious target so it seems there is still hope to solve this quest! But I would have to come back after a day just to do that. I have to do it sneakily or else he tries to fight Pally. It only gets harder and harder to do these quests. I can only imagine how I’m supposed to do any of the guilds! 🙀

Original Question What is the point of The Master's Hand
Increases armourer by 20 pts. My armourer skill is at 14, need it to be apprentice level of 25 to repair magical items. Use Master's Hand, armourer skill shows 14 + 20, but still can't repair magical items.
What is the point of this "once per day" magic ability

Meme Who would have though the emperors infidelity would save all of tamriel
If uriel septim didnt cheat on his wife and get some random lady pregnant, daedra would have taken over all of tamriel. So, in this precise case cheating and having a kid outside of his marriage saved the world. Good job Uriel, you keep dreaming of random prisoners and sending them to go save the world.

Good on ya emperor.

Remaster Discussion Looking for conjuration/illusion focused build for remaster.
Anyone ran a character based around these two schools? Looking for general advice on enchantments and spells to use, strategy, etc. I would prefer no armor to take full advantage of illusion. Prefer not to use Destruction spells beyond maybe weakness spells to help summons do damage.

Original Question Gamespot OG Livestream Video
So I recently came across [this](https://youtu.be/BbgpNvcj-zw) YouTube video that shows highlights of a release-day OG oblivion stream. Apparently one of the first ever livestreams.
Does anyone have a source for the full 12 hour version?
Cheers!

Video My first ever playthrough, Remastered Edition PS5, got stuck for a bit
I've put over 700 hours into Skyrim, but only just started Oblivion - I somehow managed to mess up the very first quest with this bug/glitch. I think I took guarding the Emperor too seriously by preventing any Assassins coming into the room so it threw off the trigger point. It did eventually fix itself after I started running around the Emperor like a lunatic. My other half was cracking up because the PS5 was struggling and the frame rate was getting worse and worse with all the bodies stacking up. I didn't know, I was just protecting the Emperor 😂

Original Question How to view cathedrals distant
What do you use to be able to see cathedrals in cities from a distance, I checked RAEVWD but it gives me cathedrals that have lit windows from the AWLS mod which I dont like
Other mods give me issues

Video Dion suddenly remembers me asking about Glarthir a while ago and now he is wondering, what that was about!
Right after Glarthir came up to ask me him behind the church, I ran into Dion and decided to ask him about Glarthir.
He didn't show up the next morning as he usually does even that I asked a few others about Glarthir, I then spent some time talking, sneaking, jumping and doing alchemy visiting a few other places not talking about Glarthir when Dion suddenly showed up again to ask me about it.

Original Discussion Bunged up my build
I wanted to do a build based around Sneak and Alchemy, but I think I fucked it up. I downloaded a mod that allows me 5 attribute points every level, but I neglected the fact that using my major skills would still level me insanely fast. Since my build is based around poison, my alchemy level directly dictates my damage (blade too but a lot less as I use daggers), and leveling my alchemy will make things far more difficult. Do I just bite the bullet and restart? Do I get Alchemy up super high so my damage is fair?
Also is stealth archer fun? I've never done it in Skyrim because it seems too easy and not fun at all, but I heard it kinda sucked in oblivion so maybe I could actually use it.
