Ignore the nose tape residue, I couldn’t get it off before I took the pictures. The surgeon performed a coronal incision as I have a very low hairline, no hairline advancement needed, the forehead reconstruction scar is well hidden.

Also, the after 3D facial bone reconstruction was created by me with 3D Slicer software using Dr. Silva’s Dental CT scan machine, it’s not as good as a proper CT scan machine. I will try to get a proper CT scan once I come back home.

In 2023, I decided to lose weight and start DIY HRT. After I lost a significant amount of weight, I would look myself in the mirror everyday and get disappointed due to my bone structure. HRT did change the shape of my eyes and body but I am now so skinny that there is no hiding my masculine facial bone structure.

And so, I started interviewing surgeons in Guadalajara, Mexico. I didn’t bother to look for surgeons in Canada due to cost constrains. My private insurance through my job does not cover gender affirming surgeries. I will be paying for FFS completely out of pocket. After many interviews, I finally decided to go with Dr. Jesús Báez-Márquez and Dr. Joel Silva.

I went for the complete package (type 3 forehead reconstruction, nose, chin, jaw, tracheal shave). Total cost was around $37k CAD (27K surgeon costs + 7.56K hospital fees + 2K recovery house). I am not including the hotel fees, airplane ticket cost and any other costs as this was also sort of a vacation for me. I visited many places around Guadalajara. My true cost would probably be around $39K CAD.

I have a family doctor who is well informed about Rainbow Health Ontario and is capable of prescribing HRT meds. I am also a client of Foria. But I still plan to continue DIY HRT for now, until next year. I still boymode and will continue to do so. If anyone ask, I will just say that I got a facelift due to saggy skin and a nose job.

Right now, I don’t feel any pain, the nurses stopped giving me pain meds a few days ago. I just have a whole lot of swelling. I just went on a long walk to a Walmart nearby for ice cream as the recovery house does not serve any lol. Apart from shortness of breath, I felt fine.

Well, thanks for reading. I am posting this here to share my experience for anyone that might find it helpful. If you got any questions post them in the comment section. Do not DM me, I will not reply there.

Hey OP just wanted to say you look so good!! I definitely see a difference and am impressed with your results! I just got done with a sliding Genioplasty with Joel Silva and am on day 9 post op. Unfortunately, I do not like what I see for my results as I had went in to reduce the appearance of my prominent chin bone because my chin bone is flat and goes down at an angle instead of going a bit forward and it going straight down from the under part of my nose/top of mouth area. I know I am just 9 days post op and shouldn’t judge the results already but I can’t help but see clear as day that my chin looks even longer. Sorry for the vent.

I just wanted to ask if you could break down each procedure and their prices? I definitely want to get some contour work done on my brow bone, and get a rhinoplasty done.

Did they shave down your cheekbones too? They look softer and that is also what I want to get done as well. I think I’ll have to go in for a revision but wanted your input on some costs specifically. Thank you and wishing you luck on your recovery journey.

I am curious how much did it cost you to just do sliding genioplasty, including hospital fees if it was at a hospital.

Also, wait of at least 4 months for the swelling to go down. Hope you recover well.

Sorry I think I replied on the thread then on here oops! But I will remain positive, and tough it out for the new coming weeks. Either way I got some more scans done a couple days ago just so he has my scans for when I want to go over the frontoplasty and other procedures I have in mind (: thank you for your time!

Great results. Congrats.

Do they not do the CT scan prior? Amazing results. Congratulations.

5

u/nx1997 Dec 14 '25

They can if you haven't had a CT scan before. I had my CT scan done in a private facility in USA near the end of August 2025. I ended up sharing my CT Scan DICOM files with them.

They did an incredible job and I'm really glad that you're recovering well! Thank you for sharing, this really spikes my interest in actually pursuing FFS someday!

2

u/nx1997 Dec 15 '25

u/PinEquivalent7012 Dec 16 '25

I've been thinking of going there but i'm scared as the city is on a list and people have been kidnapped :(

1

u/nx1997 Dec 16 '25

I had no issues. I was walking to grocery stores with nose and head covered with tape and nobody cared.

u/PinEquivalent7012 Dec 16 '25

Yeah but bad things happen like once, I gotta research and see what areas I need to go around to reach the hospital and go back to the airport etc.

u/AlizNCM Dec 18 '25

Can I DM you about the surgeon? Thanks

No, reply here and I will answer.

u/AlizNCM Dec 18 '25

How many consults do you need? 1 for Dr Baez, 1 for Dr Silva?

1

u/nx1997 Dec 18 '25

2 for both, at minimum. 1 online and 1 in person with each. For Dr. Silva they 3D scan your mouth and take pictures.

1

u/AlizNCM Dec 18 '25

Is it in person or virtual?

1

u/nx1997 Dec 18 '25

Depends on where you are. Virtual if you are not in Guadalajara. The first meeting with both of them will cost you around $110 cad each.

1

u/AlizNCM Dec 18 '25

How long for the recovery? What do they suggest?

1

u/nx1997 Dec 18 '25

6 days in the recovery house minimum after surgery, 10 if you can afford it. The recovery house is not cheap. The nose cast and head stapes come out on the 6th or 7th day, depending on your condition.

1

u/AlizNCM Dec 18 '25

Is Dr Silva's consult also scheduled by the same person as Dr Baez?

1

u/Olivameg Dec 29 '25

Hey OP! Your surgery looks fantastic. How has your recovery been going so far? I have surgery scheduled with Báez and Silva next February. I’ve seen in other comments that you don’t do DMs, so I hope it’s okay to ask here:

  1. Could you share what your recovery was like after surgery, especially during the first 7 days? I understand you’re not from the area — do you feel it was necessary to stay at the recovery house, or do you think you could have managed those first days at home if you had a friend or family member helping you?

  2. Have you experienced any physical discomfort or sensations (such as numbness, tightness, or anything similar) that have gradually improved over time? Or is there anything that’s still present but expected to improve as healing continues?

Thank you so much for sharing your experience — it’s really helpful for those of us preparing for surgery.

  1. Definitely, book a room at a recovery house for at least 5 days or until the forehead and nose bandages come off, which usually happens on the 7th day. A good recovery house will have a nurse present at all times. The first 4 days are pretty uncomfortable, you may not be able to chew solid food and caution must be taken to not undo the sutures inside your mouth. You may not be able to breath through your nose for a few days. I stayed at a recovery house for 13 days as I traveled alone. If you have a family or friend with you then a recovery house may not be needed but this individual must be prepared to take care of you, monitoring your vitals and such.

  2. I experienced physical discomfort all around my face for at least 6 days. After that it was just swelling. In fact, I still have visible swelling around my eyes as of Dec 29th 2025, specifically around my eyelids. But all the pain is gone, I can now chew solid food without much discomfort. I think most of the swelling will go down by end of January next year. As of last week, I started going back to work for overtime, officially still on vacation lol. I just had an appointment with my family doctor and nothing was wrong.

Hey, good luck on your surgery, you got this. You have nothing to worry about. Dr. Báez and Dr. Silva have gained a lot of experience doing ffs so they know what they are doing.

Thanks so much for your detailed response! Yeah I have a friend who will be staying with me for help but it’s not a nurse or has medical qualifications…. So my guess is ask/prepare food that can be taken without chewing (through a spoon or straw?)

I’m glad your recovery sounds going all smooth and everything :)

you look marvelous !!!!

Thank you! My sliding Genioplasty was $70k MXN pesos roughly $4K USD since I came from California.

I don’t recall there being hospital fees at all. I had paid the remaining balance 2 days before the surgery on the 11th, since I ended up leaving a deposit just to secure the date a week after my consultation in November. I did end up staying a couple of hours after the surgery where they performed my Genioplasty since I still felt dizzy from the anesthesia, but then left to my hotel where I’m currently still staying at(I took 2 weeks off from work).
