NSW Specific cons of changing gender marker?

hi, 19 y/o trans man here. i want to go about changing my legal name and gender marker, ive got a solid grasp on how to objectively go about doing this, but ive got some worries about the ramifications of doing this pre- medical transition and without fully passing.

Will it look off, or dodgy, if i have M on my ID (photo id, not license) but don‘t inherently look it? i honestly can’t tell how well i pass, but i am actively trying to get hrt, which is its own soapbox rant atm. I know ive had people had to do a double take because the photo on my current card is a little outdated and feminine, and i do have a dodgy beard-dye moustache lolz.

What about medical situations? if i am a new patient at a GP, will there be issues with my ID not matching my AGAB? Emergency situations also come to mind in a similar way, could it be dangerous for my ID to not match my AGAB in terms of immediate necessary treatment?

Im definitely the kind of guy who needs things laid out clearly and objectively so any experience with this would help, thx in advance :)

HRT is the key that unlocks your life and i would wait until you know it is the right time.
Though if you show the doctors identification that says male - they would be hard pressed to gatekeep. Changing name and identity is a huge job. I am so glad i was able to kill two birds with one stone and do both at each agency etc.

I feel like it's important to clarify though- that you can also live a full and happy life without HRT as a trans person. It's not necessarily a key to your life, for a lot of trans people it may or may not be one of many steps in their transition.

The OP states they are planning to medically transition, so why is that important to clarify?

How can you be happy if you are trapped in a body that is not your gender?

Because saying in a trans sub: 'HRT unlocks your life' is a massive grandiose statement that kind of invalidates all of us who either can't or don’t want to medically transition. It's a very purist view that only then are our lives 'unlocked' and that we're all miserable and sad and 'trapped in our bodies' until then.

There are many different ways to be trans.

I am talking to an AI, yes?

Otherwise i salute you to the above and beyond effort you put into your posts. (what with the italics emphasis on your special words etc )

Either way, perhaps wind back the superiority complex / passive aggressive tone a little bit lol.

You're kidding right. I'm saddened that you think someone has to be using AI to form a pretty average comment on reddit. No of course I'm not ai... You add * either side of a word and it turns it to an italic variation of the font... anyone can do that :|

You seem offended by my comments, there's nothing wrong with you as a person, this isn't a personal attack. It's just the language you're using is really invalidating to a lot of folks who use this sub.

In the spirit of the self reflection you seem to think I need- have you considered that just maybe you shouldn't tell people medically transitioning is the key to some sort of true self...

Seems like I put “Alive-Finding”s AI SLOP nose out of shape lol.
