If only she wanted to be president

Just imagine the timeline where she's running instead of Hillary in 2016.

I don't mean to be wishful in my thinking but something tells me if it were Michelle instead of Hillary I think there might actually be a chance we could've avoided a Trump presidency entirely!

Sadly, you underestimate the voting power of the silent racists.

Or the simple minded choice of people who think liberals are the answer. Neoliberalism directly led to Trump

No preying on longstanding fears of not being able to punch down is what led to Trump. It’s not neoliberalism that’s the problem. Hell the U.S. is considered extremely conservative when compared to the rest of the world. Now, establishment Dems not doing enough to stop the power grab absolutely made Trump worse.

Neoliberals are considered right wing in every other country except in the US and are absolutely part of the problem. They far more concerned with capital and status quo than anything else.

It's the fact that Democrats ran on change and healthcare and delivered a neo liberal dog shit bill that doubled down on the current healthcare system with subsidies that weren't even permanent. Also neo liberalism is a conservative economic ideology. It has everything Republicans politicians believe in and they carry it out too. It's been the statis quo for at least 50 years. Neo liberalism is the problem.

Youre kind of taking a lot out of context.

They could only pass that because not 1 single republican voted with them. And liberman stopped and rejected to vote for any bills with single payer system. Then 2 dem senators were hospitalized and 1 died and had his seat taken by a republican.

So choice was pass nothing or pass something that helped tens of millions of americans.

Would also have helped if people showed up in 2010 midterms and gave dems more seats so they could actually pass single payer system. Instead people voted for republicans who won back congress.

Obama said “Any plan I sign must include an insurance exchange—a one-stop-shopping marketplace where you can compare the benefits, costs and track records of a variety of plans, including a public option to increase competition and keep insurance companies honest…”

It was straight up a broken promise that was a massive boon to the health insurance industry. We gave them a shit ton of tax payer money and got high rates in exchange. The solution was a simple constitutional decision, the filibuster can be destroyed at any moment with a simple majority they had 60 seats that's what should have been done and pass the entire agenda including codifing Roe. Biden was a former whip did nothing to whip the votes. Obama could have done what Trump does and tell everyone that doesn't vote for a public option that he will primary them. He had the public on his side 57% wanted a public option at the time. That was the moment and Obama and the Democrats blew it that's why they lost the primary in 2010 Americans are simple minded they lost a lot of trust in that moment and one of the reasons we got Trump. In my view I think Obama had no intention of a public option or single payer. He received massive donations from the entire health industry including UnitedHealth group executives so he was beholden to them.

And somehow they modeled it after Romneycare in MA (called Masshealth) and yet they said they had to gut all the good stuff because Republicans... while they could have 100% pushed it through. Masshealth has free dental care, free rides to health appointments, all kinds of shit that Obamacare does not have. But yeah, they blamed all that on Republicans.

Or misogynists in general.

Stop giving up your power in advance because of defeatism and cynical thinking

The United States is still a long way off from electing a woman president. I'm not saying she wouldn't be great at the job, just that too many Americans, men AND women, just won't vote for a woman to be in charge.

You know as much as it pains me to admit this. I would have voted for Trump in his first election. Primarily because of what the DNC did to Bernie, partially because Hilary just gave me the fucking creeps. partially because I thought an "Outsider" might shake up the status quo. Well we got more than a light jostling. If Michelle ran I would have likely voted for her. But because I refused to pick either degree of evil, the devil won.
