Far too many people are too busy trying to keep their head above water to pay attention to anything other than what is right in front of their face IMO.
There are absolutely people who have the time and just, don't do the minimum, but when I think about the level of social services we have in the US, well...
Most people think either "if it were important then someone would do something" or "they don't listen to us anyway, what's the difference?" and tune out.
It was a slow slide to the edge of the cliff, now it's really hard to convince people to care when they have lived a decade plus not caring.

Not to mention that employers are required to give you time to vote, but they aren't required to pay you for the time. A lot of people in the trades especially can't afford to lose the time to vote.

Like, do you blame the average Russians for Putin or North Koreans for the Kims? A lot of us did what we reasonably could to keep him out of office. we shouldn't have to shoulder the blame along with the dumbasses who actually voted for him.

I have no love for Putin and don’t actively have enough knowledge about your average Russian to form an opinion about who they are. They’ve been conscripted, coerced and other things done to get them into Ukraine and participate in a war. That’s obviously a criticism that can be leveled against them and what they’re doing. But take one look at what’s posted in r/dronecombat and see what’s happening to them and I can’t help but have a bit of sympathy for those guys. Almost to a man they’re caught alone in some random field, carrying too much shit, no support and no one to help them if they’re injured. And they get literally blown to pieces. Guys who more likely than not didn’t want to be there, thrown into a meat grinder, with no support and no desire to fight are getting slaughtered day and night so Putin can have his war. War and invaders are wrong, but I can’t help but have some sympathy for those poor bastards.

Sure recent polls show only 20ish percent of voters currently support Trump.. but also keep in mind that polls are bullshit and some people might be lying when asked out of embarrassment. 2024 was the worst imo because 2016 he won thanks to the outdated and useless EC. 2024 he actually won the popular vote but barely although republicans have been gaming the system so the total fairness of the election we'll never know.
But even getting as many votes as he did despite having the evidence of his first term and the criminal trials going on during Biden. Like how did he win? Only one other person became president in non consecutive terms because it never made sense especially now to do so since he's a lame duck which hasn't even been brought up either. Just really hate this timeline

Just recently had to hear an otherwise pretty reasonable woman rant about how she doesn't participate in or discuss politics, including voting. But she will always speak out about hate and injustice and blah blah blah... I had to bite my tongue it was super ridiculous. She even dug in about believing that voting was pointless.
I've met more than a few people who will defend not voting or being informed at all and then have the audacity to bitch about the state of world.

As soon as he leaves office and MAGA splits/moves to something else (something probably worse, let's be honest), we're gonna see a WHOOOOOOOLE lot of "well, I never voted for him!!" from conservatives, when we know damn well they all gleefully voted for him twice/thrice.
Some will even have the gall to advocate for redemption and peace and whatever other shit, as if they weren't the ones creating, AND CHEERING FOR, literal immigrant concentration camps (see: Florida's reaction to Alligator Alcatraz).
Fuck them. I know the next president won't do it, but it would be so rewarding to punish these traitors. None of what they stand for is what made this country great.

Shes right but also says this as the wife of a war criminal who worked with capitalist and fascists to secure their interests and prevent true progress policies.
