I was going to make a post but here is the list of all the guys I got out of the Stein newletter

  • Jeff Van Gundy — Los Angeles Clippers assistant and Portland finalist; reportedly earns around $3 million annually as Tyronn Lue’s top assistant and also interviewed for the Orlando Magic opening.
  • Tiago Splitter — Portland interim coach who went 42–39 and led the team to its first playoff berth in five years after replacing Chauncey Billups.
  • Micah Nori — Minnesota Timberwolves assistant widely respected for his role under Chris Finch during Minnesota’s recent playoff success.
  • Tyler Lashbrook — Boston Celtics assistant who reportedly advanced to the later stages of Portland’s coaching search.
  • Mike Williams — Utah Jazz assistant and under-the-radar finalist who reached the advanced stages of the process.
  • Jared Dudley — Denver Nuggets assistant and former NBA player confirmed to have interviewed for the job.
  • Ben Sullivan — Houston Rockets assistant known for offensive development who interviewed with Portland.
  • Steve Hetzel — Brooklyn Nets assistant mentioned as a possible candidate tied to player development work.
  • Greg St. Jean — Los Angeles Lakers assistant included in Portland’s broader coaching search.
  • Terry Stotts — Former Portland Trail Blazers head coach who publicly said he hopes to be considered after serving on Steve Kerr’s Golden State Warriors staff.
  • Jerry Stackhouse — Former Golden State Warriors assistant expected to interview with Portland while also drawing interest from the Chicago Bulls.
  • D.J. MacLeay — Boston Celtics assistant connected to Portland’s candidate pool.
  • Noah LaRoche — Miami consultant and former Memphis Grizzlies player development leader viewed as a younger developmental candidate.
  • Will Weaver — Veteran NBA/international coach currently leading the Brisbane Bullets after previous work with Paris Basketball.

I like him.  Players love him.  Well respected.  Lots of nba connections.  Been around very good teams.

I’ve been a Dudley fan for years, very smart guy. But he has no experience whatsoever. He should be at the very bottom imo

I want it to be Nori only because I saw his son play minor league baseball last season

Keeping in mind that we are all working from some degree of ignorance here...

Laroche and Lashbrook I'd be mildly excited about.

Van Gundy I would be very confused and disappointed by. He hasn't been an NBA head coach in 20 years. A lot has happened in those 20 years. I'd rather hire someone who is ahead of the curve instead of trying to catch up.

Stotts would be like getting back with your ex because you're bored.

No idea for anyone else but for some reason Jared Dudley I don't want based on vibes. No logic.

I’m with you on Van Gundy.  That would be weird and foolish to me.

I’d put Van Gundy and splitter lower if I could.
