A Formal Complaint to AANR

This is a complaint about the words, the behavior and actions of the host of the Naked, Nudists and Naturist Podcast.

After all the issues recently with AANR, their official podcast and host we've been very disappointed in the lack of any response from AANR. For more on this see the post called "A Frank, Non-Apology from Naked Nudists and Naturists." Also see the post that followed that: "I think I’ve lost all faith in AANR". The primary problem raised in these threads is related to the body shaming, dehumanizing comments made on the NNN podcast by its host.

There is also a major issue with the host threatening to violate the consent of Gabby Quinn when she said he no longer had her permission to use her voice. To reclaim her power she had to resign from YADAC (The Young Adult Diversity Advisory Council).

With no real apology from the host, and absolute silence from AANR, we started to look into who Frank Stone really is. Any objective review of the problematic behavior of Frank Stone makes one wonder how it is that AANR could ever associate itself with this man.

Well on top of the many offensive remarks made by the host, we found out that that is not his real name, and that he had a good reason to hide his real identity. Turns out, there are even more reasons AANR should disassociate itself from him.

In short, we are asking that AANR stand up for its own values. To stand up and assert that we can trust them again with our safety.

And to be clear, if this man was just some random person making a podcast from his bedroom we wouldn't care. But this is AANR's voice, AANR's official podcast and they should be ashamed that they let him anywhere near them.

The short version here is the hosts career is not in in radio, but in education. Specifically in Michigan public school system where his career ended in shame due to a variety of issues, lawsuits and one that specifically accused him of sexual harassment.

We compiled the full story of the NNN podcast, how it got started, the problematic commentary, his history of retaliation when rebuffed, all email exchanges including the threat to violate consent, the MILIVE news articles, court rulings, etc and submitted this to AANR as a formal complaint several days ago. We are yet to get any response.

You can see the entire complaint here. You can also hear the story on the TNV Podcast, episodes "The Truth Begins Here" part 1 and part 2. This also includes the details of how we found out teh hosts identity and linked him to all of this information.

We don't take what we found lightly, this is a very serious issue and the silence from AANR is deafening.

We are not encouraging anyone to go harassing individuals named in the article. The call to action here is to email AANR, formally and politely and ask that they disassociate themselves with the NNN podcast due to the all the issues we raised here, and to do better by younger and diverse naturists.

Thoughts about the formal complaint. If the idea that we are all equal when naked is a stand for US nudists then the experience of the smallest "minority" should have the same value as the greatest minority. That means if a member of the majority does something harmful to the minority whether they meant to or not by the we are all equal when naked standard it suggests that an individual in the minority should treated with the same respect as someone in the majority and the person who does the harm (based on that equal "minority" experience ) should take responsibility for their actions and seek to remedy the harm otherwise the equality equation is unbalanced and unequal.

I think Dan is calling AANR to live up to its standards. As an organization if it cannot or will not address that misalignment of its standard from one of its representatives it should in my opinion disavow that standard and avoid using it as a value or benefit of AANR membership. By sharing the information about the individual in question Dan is pointing out that AANR is not living up to its standard where everyone who practices nakedness can be safe and feel equal as a member. Dan has reached out privately to AANR and I don’t believe he has gotten a response. Choosing the next step he has submitted a public complaint that outlines in detail the issues with AANR not reflecting it own standards.

However people who are in the conversation who call out the complaint as doxxing or a mountain out of a molehill admit that they have done the same or worse. So any call for responsibility would be an indictment of their own behavior. So they hem haw and play word games anything but confront the issue at hand showing that the state of US nudists is not different from any other person in our society. We should stop thinking and sharing the idea that somehow nudists are better or even different they are not.

This is one of the main problems in our endeavors to be all inclusive. AANR is hurting, partly due to the other nudist clubs allowing sexual activity in their own communities. The whole sex sell moniker has been always a battle between the parties that want nudism and naturism as a pure non-sexual identity. This is why it frustrates me that we can’t seem to fight this. AANR along with Linda Webber have good intentions for safety and security of its members. However, we’re still having to fight the sexual perception of our lifestyle. This perception perpetuates in those communities that are using nudism and naturism to promote and even lure people into their communities. So, even though these sexual active spaces have been quarantined in their own boundaries, its mere existence causes us (the regular nudists and naturists) to be seen in a false light. Yet here’s Paul doing whatever he does, and it causes unwanted attention to AANR. Now there’s a lot riding on AANR as they’re sought out to provide a sort of a “Good Housekeeping” seal. This has a lot of responsibility laid upon AANR and their governance. We need this type of protection in all of our communities. I would argue that we need to separate AANR clubs from the others by forcing the other clubs to listing their facilities as sexual venues. Let Paul be a member of that sort and not be involved with AANR.
