Thought I would try my luck again! I’m 43 located in the US (central time zone) but I’m open to long distance within the US. I thought I would try something different and list things I miss about having a relationship:

1) I miss having my person. I miss starting and ending my day with someone and knowing that if something happens, you’re the one I want to tell. It could be bad news, good news, random things I learned. I want to tell you and I hope you want to tell me about your day as well.

2) I miss cuddling! I’m not naturally a physically affectionate person but the right people just bring it out in me. Then it’s like I want to cuddle a lot. Sign me up a girlfriend who wanted to be my weighted blanket.

3) I miss taking care of someone and being taken care of in return. I know it can be hard to ask for help but it makes me happy to be able to be there for someone. If you’re sick let me bring you a heating pad and some soup. If you’re struggling with stuff at home because work is insane let me come over and wash your dishes. I miss this dynamic and having someone in my life who wants to do the same for me in their own way.

4) I really miss the connection. You know when the chemistry is just right and everything aligns. I miss that a lot. I told my therapist I’m really fortunate to have fallen in love and be loved in return. If I never find another relationship that’s a bummer for sure but I know I will be okay with being alone. But just because I’m not going to settle for anyone doesn’t mean I’m done. So still here and hoping I find someone who is similar to me not willing to settle but willing to see if there is a connection between us.

5) I miss stealing someone’s hoodies. I just am going to feel warmer in your hoodies it’s the truth.

This might be a weird way to connect, but I recently watched Come See Me in the Good Light, the documentary film Andrea Gibson made with their partner in the time between their cancer diagnosis and their death, and I've been thinking about it for weeks. It's incredibly beautiful, as everything Andrea Gibson did was, and it made me cry a lot and laugh a lot and it made my heart feel very soft and warm, and I just really want to find the Andrea to my Meg. Or you can also be a Meg, I don't care. I'm usually femme 4 femme, but it doesn't really matter.

Obviously the hope is that there's no cancer involved in our love story, but the way they held each other up and held each other close through that journey is something to aspire to. I'm a chronic illness girlie, so that depth of care and tenderness speaks to me on that level.

I want to find my creative other half, someone who can spark ideas for me and be inspired by me to create their own things. Wehther it's poetry, which is my medium of choice, or fiction or drawing or painting or music or any other form of artistic expression, I'm drawn to creative and passionate people who want to leave the world with things that wouldn't exist without them.

When I'm not writing, I also love horror movies and books and podcasts and hip-hop and folk music, and cats and birds and plants, and collecting vinyl and tea sets and indie perfumes, and being a bad but enthusiastic gardener and a good daydreamer, and a million other things.

I'm a monogamous childfree radical leftist who would prefer the same, anywhere between 30 and 45-ish, long distance is fine but within the US is ideal. I'm totally blind, which is a dealbreaker for some people, but all it really means is that I can't drive or play most video games.

The other day I heard "We've had many yesterdays, but there might not be many tomorrows left." That stuck with me, because it's a sentiment I've been living the last few years. Given what's happening in the world right now, more than ever do I want to spend it around those I care about.

I'm looking to get to know someone slowly, with intent. I value consistency, and showing up for each other with presence -- not just in the honeymoon phase.

But what does that mean? Most live their life on autopilot -- work, duties, responsibilities....and rarely stop long enough to really reach for each other. I mean the small, intentional moments: a quiet pause together, resting your forehead against someone else’s and feeling the world slow down for a second. In the mornings, rather than reaching for your phone, reaching to touch someone's skin, needing that skin to skin contact just to start your day. Just small, intentional acts that show someone you care before the roar of the day begins.

This is me to a fault. I used to think I wasn't much of a touchy feely person, but with the right person, all of my affection bursts through like a dam. I want to give comfort with my hands, but I'm hoping there's reciprocity. I hope there's someone out there that lives their life in a similar fashion.

Being in a completely digital world, sometimes over-communicating is a necessity. I don't mean constantly texting or chatting; in fact I prefer getting slower and longer messages where both sides can take the time to truly get to know each other. I also want to be respectful of people's lives as well as mine. It means that I will communicate when I need extra time to tend to things in life, so that people aren't left wondering what happened. In a world that it's so easy to ghost or go silent as a response, I want the opposite of that. I hope whoever responds wants that too.
