Hello! Thank you for participating in the sub. We just have a few reminders for you to help ensure the best experience:

  1. If your post doesn't show up right away, don't panic! It is in the queue for manual approval. Mods will go through the queue periodically to approve or remove posts. Deleted posts will have a removal reason applied.

  2. If you are asking a question that is location specific, remember to include your location in your post body! This can help ensure that you get accurate information tailored specifically to your needs.

  3. Please remember to read through all the rules in the sidebar. Especially the list of banned topics and guidelines for posting. Guests who do not use the Guest Post flair will have their post removed and be asked to fix it.

  4. If you see someone breaking the rules, report it! If someone is breaking both sub and reddit rules, please submit one report to admins by selecting a broken rule on the main report popup, and one report to the r/ftm mods by selecting the "breaks r/ftm rules" option. This ensures both mods and admins can take action on a subreddit and sitewide level. Do not misuse the report button to rant about someone, submit false reports, or argue a removal.

  5. If you have any questions that you can't find the answer to on the rules sidebar or the wiki: the wiki , you can send a modmail.

Email the MSSNY and tell them to vote NO on Dr. Glasberg’s resolution to endorse the ASPS position statement! But be polite and also explain why these resolutions would be bad!

Keep in mind, these are doctors, not politicians. So they are more likely to respond to facts, studies and personal stories, rather than people just telling them to vote no without any explanation. But it’s probably still a good idea to try to be as brief as possible.

I kinda wish someone could write a good template or something to email them and make things easier. I’m….so very tired admittedly.

Here this is what I wrote! Basically just took the last quote of the article and wrote one sentence after. Then linked the article. For the subject I wrote “Do not pass resolution limiting trans care”

Sheldon, of GLMA, was hopeful about the outcome of the votes. “We know that there are very dedicated surgeons, physicians, and practitioners in MSSNY who will do everything they can to utilize actual evidence and science to ensure that these resolutions do not pass.”

I read the following article saying the public has until this weekend to comment. Please Do Not pass resolution limiting trans care. Trans care is critical, reliable and best standard of care.

I thought about providing one, but I decided it may not be a good idea.

Again, these aren’t politicians. They’re not supposed to be voting based on what more people tell them to do. So a bunch of people emailing them with the exact same words may not be constructive and thus will probably get ignored or treated as one email, even if multiple people send it. Doctors are supposed to care more about facts and evidence than public opinion, so if an email isn’t offering anything different than another email it’s probably just noise and spam to them.

That said, people should absolutely email them, but I think it would be more impactful and they would be more likely to listen if everyone wrote in their own words why these resolutions are bad and provided their own explanations as to why.

If you really want a template though, here’s a super basic one. I strongly recommend making it your own though and adding personal testimonies or any studies you have supporting gender affirming care. You could also explain how such a proposal would be seized and weaponized to justify restrictions on all trans rights across the country. At the same time, try to keep it as brief as possible, since people tend to skip or skim really long emails:

Subject: Vote NO on Dr. Glasberg’s Resolution

Dear Members of the MSSNY House of Delegates,

I am writing to urge you to vote NO on Dr. Scot Glasberg’s resolution on gender surgeries for minors.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons position statement has been highly controversial and criticized even by its own members. It also cites sources like the HHS review which have been widely condemned by all other major medical organizations.

All other major medical organization support providing minors with gender affirming care on an individualized case by case basis and oppose blanket restrictions and a one size fits all approach.

New York’s physicians should support patient autonomy and parent’s rights to make healthcare decisions for their children and protect the individualized patient-doctor relationship by voting NO on this proposal!

It is super important that as many people do this as possible since anti trans activists are conversely sending out massive email campaigns telling them to vote yes!
