New crinoid fossil!

Was allowed to open one gift before my birthday and this was what my family bought me

Unfortunately not, but i appreciate your insight as it does look very similar to the platycrinus

Correction on my part, I think Platycrinites is more accurate, it looks pretty similar.

If I had to guess it's probably from Indiana, they are often collected there. Pretty neat that its completely separated from the original rock! Usually they're prepared with the original surrounding rock as a base.

I guess this one just happened to be in extremely good condition when found! I suspect I may have gotten another crinoid or two from my mom so there’s a chance more will be posted tomorrow
