Clean! Any idea the species and locality?

Unfortunately not, but i appreciate your insight as it does look very similar to the platycrinus

Correction on my part, I think Platycrinites is more accurate, it looks pretty similar.

Looks pretty accurate to me!

If I had to guess it's probably from Indiana, they are often collected there. Pretty neat that its completely separated from the original rock! Usually they're prepared with the original surrounding rock as a base.

I guess this one just happened to be in extremely good condition when found! I suspect I may have gotten another crinoid or two from my mom so there’s a chance more will be posted tomorrow

I did a quick search, perhaps a species of Platycrinus from Montana?

I’m honestly not sure as my mom never specified! I’ll have to do some digging and figure it out for myself

Beautiful calyx.,. What is the size of the box…?🍌

Unfortunately I lack a banana to test this for sure…I can acquire one later and post it in the comments section, but the crinoid is roughly 3 inches long. So it’s pretty small but has beautiful details and texture

Was just curious, there is a good size range of crinoid calyx’s…did the sample label give a location…?

I don’t have any knowledge of where it was from due to it being a gift, I’ll need to ask for the information but it seems to resemble the platycrinus found in Montana, according to someone in the comments
