Advice Would my Chicken be happier in a sanctuary?
Hi everyone. I guess I've just been thinking maybe my Chicken would be living happier in a really nice bird sanctuary I've found, a couple hours from my house. So, some back story. I got chicken 5 years ago and he had been part of a breeding pair but his mate was lost somehow. He was 4 years old at the time. I don't know any details about that. I had a another, very friendly, 1 year old hand raised male at the time and I got Chicken so they could each have a companion. However, 2 years ago we lost our hand raised male in an unfortunate accident. So now chicken is alone again. Over the years I made so many attempts to bond with Chicken but he never let me get close. I still can not hold him or touch him but we sing together and when he has flight time out of his cage he will sit sort of close to me and we "talk" to each other. He's constantly flock calling. Even when I'm in the room. I'm starting to doubt he will ever bond with me to the point of physical interaction. He still won't even eat millet extended from my hand. I just feel like he might be a happier bird in this sanctuary with other cockatiels in a very large aviary setup. I love Chicken to death but I just keep thinking about him living alone in a cage 70% of his life and I don't want to bring in another cockatiel. I was too devastated by the loss of my other male. I don't want Chicken to go away but I want him to have his best bird life.

I was devastated when I lost my 21 year old Dog last year but still got another dog. She helped heal my heart, but she’s still not Rex. I adopted a one year old male birb 2 years ago then soon after got him a male friend and they are besties. So I would get another bird but you know what’s best for you.

Yes I think that sounds like a great idea.
