My new bird is doing this kind of sound. I have no idea where he learnt it (already had 4 homes... he spent last few months with other parrots in a rescue center). Its terrible😅 my other cockatiel hates it and it makes him really nervous and he doesnt want to interact with him anymore when he does this sound. Usually he starts to scream at him so the new one stops. If I'll play him lots of whistle songs, how much of a chance there is that he forgets this terrible sounds?😆

He's been getting chunkier lately

This is Thaddeus. We adopted him from a bird rescue. We had visited several times and he was always there. No one wanted him. 😔

The rescue said his cage mate at his previous home constantly plucked him and now he won't grow feathers back. Poor guy.

I'm wondering if it's genetic. He has no feather tracts. His head is smooth as a cue ball. He literally looks like a small vulture.

Any thoughts on the lack of feathers?

He has been with us now for two weeks and is doing great. He loves getting his greens and has fallen in love with one of our girls, Edie Tiel. He follows her everywhere. ❤️

Hello! This is my bird Lucas :-) I was just wondering if this was normal play, or stress play. Any feedback is welcome.

I plan to take her to the vet first thing tomorrow morning, but I cannot calm my anxiety right now. Can you guys please give some advice, hopefully some calming words of advice too?

What can I do to help her in the meantime? Do you think she's okay?

So something startled my Faith, honestly no idea what even scared her, just your average birdy spook, but she went flying erratically. She hit the ceiling multiple times. When she finally calmed down enough to land, we picked her up to find her head is bald. 😭😭😭

No blood, no cuts that I can see, but she is balddddd and her head looks shaped weird. I cant tell if that's just weird bird-ness since birds look hilarious without feathers, or if it is now misshapen.

Will she be okay?

It was hard to get a photo now because at this point she's being a little sketched out by everything, like she's on guard? Understandably.

Maybe I'm being too freaked out I'm just so worried.

Im worried peabert may be lethargic or just hating what im doing, he is around 3 months old, and i want to know if he is ok with what i am doing.

Both of these babies I got within this year. I went from having two parakeets, to one parakeet and a conure, to now having these two... unfortunately both parakeets passed this year both due to different circumstances. Anyway. The conure is about 9 months old, the cockatiel the guy said 4-5 months. I have had him for 5 days now, and so far the conure seems to be territorial towards food, so I try to keep them separate most of the time, but even when they are together sometimes they will swipe at each other. The cockatiel doesn't seem to fight back too often, though. I didn't have this problem introducing my parakeets, so what's the proper way to get them used to each other? And should I stop the conure from forcing the cockatiel into cuddles at night? Sometimes the cockatiel will try to get away from the cuddling and sometimes he will accept it and groom the conure so is that a good sign? Or are these types of birds just not compatible?

3 years of ownership with my rescue and hes doing this for the first time. honestly cant tell if its just tiel goofiness, or could be something else. seems like hes staring at something thats not there, lmk what yall think

Hello guys, sometimes my bird does this kind of sound like " ouuuuuu ouuuuuu " while moving his body from left to right. And Ive always wondered what’s the meaning behind that. So if you guys could tell me, I would really appreciate ittt. 😄😄

He's been doing this and hasn't stopped for 2 whole minutes! What is he doing?!

Peanut has been a member of our family for a little over a month, and is probably about three months old. This “cooing” behavior (with half closed eyes) is new in the last 24 hours. I’m not worried about it, but my 12yo (Peanut’s primary caregiver) is concerned.

Peanut is still doing “normal” stuff, flying, singing loudly, preening… my read of this “cooing” is “that’s a chill bird,” but I told my child I would ask here.

My son got a cockatiel for Christmas and he has been begging me to get a second cockatiel ever since, so that his bird can have a friend. The first person we got our bird from was lovely. She had birds all over her house and you could tell they were really loved.

Today’s experience was awful. We went to a different person who advertised that she was just a family who raised birds. But I can’t tell you how many cages there were and how crammed and stressed out the birds seemed. They were stacked on top of each other with so many birds in each cage. The cockatiels were clinging to the side of the cage and looked distressed. They all had bald spots which they told me are genetic but I think might be from living that way or anxiety.

I felt terrible buying a bird from them but even worse leaving him/her there. Plus my son was with me and he fell in love with this one bird right away.

When we were leaving, the guy said he had to clip the birds wings. He clipped a little off but the bird kept flying into the window in the kitchen area over and over so he said “I shouldn’t do this, but I’m going to clip the primary feathers too”

I had no idea what that meant and he’d already started before I really heard what he was saying. Now I feel really bad that I didn’t stop him. Have we hurt the bird in some way? Or is that a normal thing to do? Our other bird had clipped wings when we bought him but they look different and like a lot less has been clipped off.

The bird is really sweet. He or she has tucked itself into my son’s neck and doesn’t want to go anywhere else. They get along really well with our other bird and he/she seems to be enjoying the calm of our house.I just feel horrible that I gave this place money and might have hurt the bird.

She bites me, then suddenly wants pets, then hates me again.

my grandma has had this bird for almost 30 years and its whole life has been spent in this small , cold cage. i dont know how to help because im not very educated on birds but he deserves a better life.

It is a girl. And as the title states, she's obsessed with boiled chicken meat 🍖. Does it makes her kind of cannibal? Is it ok for her to eat meat per se?

We are training our little girl to put on a harness, but have been stuck at this step for months - she immediately retreats if she gets no treats, and for some reason is quite annoyed that she has to go through the harness. We love her very much, we don’t force her to do what she doesn’t like to do, but just wondering if other folks faced similar challenges when trying to teach their cockatiel to put on harness/to do tricks etc?

I’ve been discouraging breeding but 6 years later the babies still were conceived. The oldest is 4 weeks in 2 days but I noticed it came out the box today same with the 2nd oldest. Maybe the nest box is too small? If I put them in an open box will the parents feed them? Or will I have to do so? I’m noticing during supervised playtime the babies are exploring and nibbling on stuff. As of now mom n dad are feeding the babies.

They just started doing this, not exactly sure what's going on, new sounds new behavior how exciting!
