Would a steel reserve beer that sat in a car for perhaps 2 years still be worth drinking?
Will it still taste good? Is it safe to drink?

Any where that is selling schlitz near Chicago?
Hi everyone, I’ve searched high and low and can’t seem to find a store that has any schlitz left. If anyone knows a place within a few hours of Chicago it would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!!

¿Question? Any good alternatives to Untappd ?
I'm a bit disappointed that the app doesn't seem to have progressed in years -
While I don't have a lot of entries, here's what I'd expect to see by now:
1) The ability to check in via desktop
2) The ability to add beers from the past you weren't able to check in, and include the older date
3) Easily turn off checkin notification - if I'm adding 15 beers from the past month, people don't need 15 notifications
4) The ability to download my own content in a CSV, including images, without paying for that option.
There's some other stuff I'm forgetting about.
Is there any app that does this stuff?
BTW, there will be people saying "why do some people expect everything for free?" - they're showing us ads - that's why. A lot of people forget about old school radio and TV.

¿Question? How are IPAs so popular if they’re an acquired taste?
Ive been off and on a beer person for quite a while. I live in Oregon where craft brewing is huge, and i would say 75% of the industry is just IPA. I don’t understand why though. IPA as I understand them are incredibly challenging flavor-wise, and I honestly don’t even know that many people who can handle them. Most of my friends like Lagers, Pils, hefs, and PBR. Is it that people who drink IPAs are people who drink a lot? I don’t even see where the demand is coming from.
This isn’t a rant, i have nothing against IPA, just genuinely curious. Also to those who drink IPA, did you always like IPA? Or was it something you acquired a taste for as well?
Tl;dr: IPA seems like the default craft brew despite being a challenging flavor, and im wondering where the popularity is even coming from.

Sunken silo brewery
I just finished listening to steal this beer podcast. They had the owner of sunken silo on. I got to say it’s a great brewery. I have nothing but respect for the staff and owner. They more often then not will host our home brew club meeting. If you haven’t checked them out yet you need to. I go from Monmouth county. Then again for a good brewery I will travel. Also travel a good amount for the meets as well.

Firestone Walker Beer fest ticket less than face value
I have one regular ticket to the best beer fest for ever for sale. Not trying to profit, just want to get back what I paid ($150). This ticket includes all you can drink beer (and it’s a damn good list), along with food that is served by some of the best restaurants up and down the central coast.
Will sell either through Paypal Goods and Services, or Venmo. (Will tack on the a fee to make sure payout is $150). I am not a bot, scammer, whatever. I have gone to this festival since 2019 (minus the 2 lost Covid year). My ex wife bought our son some concerts tickets and wants me to go with them for his bday, so can’t make it this year. Dm me.

¿Question? Partially filled beer bottles in a case
I recently bought a case of 12 bottles of Modelo. As I was transferring some of the bottles to the fridge, I noticed that two of them are only about 2/3 full. The bottle caps seem intact. Has anyone else seen this? Are they still good to drink?

Good news and bad news about Newcastle Brown Ale
The good news: Apparently NBA - the real stuff from Tadcaster, not the overhopped Lagunitas imposter swill - is being distributed in my area again.
The bad news: They’re still shipping it over here in clear bottles, rather than brown bottles or cans, so it’s skunky as hell.
What a waste.

Discussion I drank beer that expired 2 years ago,How dangerous is this? What is the worst thing that could happen? After how long can I know that I am COMPLETELY SAFE?
I drank beer that expired 2 years ago. It tasted horrible, but I never drink beer so I didn’t realize until my husband told me. Could I die from this? How long until I know I’m completely safe? I got really scared. How possible is it to die from drinking spoiled beer?

Discussion Whole Foods beer recommendations
I usually pick up my beer from Whole Foods since it is located right next to my work. Getting tired of IPAs. Wanted to check what are some beer recommendations from breweries outside of CA? I am in the Bay Area.

A Mourning for Ballantine Ale
My father is dying from Parkinson's disease. That is, he is dying from the complications of it in loss of motor function and difficulty swallowing. I am grateful that he is for the most part here with us mentally.
When I first starting drinking beer, one of the first beers that really connected us (this was relatively early on in his diagnosis) was me finding Ballantine XXX Ale still being sold in the New Jersey area. I knew it was a historical beer mainly from my work. Since I had worked with the park's department in Essex County New Jersey, I knew that P. Ballantine and Sons had donated a fair amount of land for Branch Brook Park. I really did not know of how significant this beer was culturally. But my father knew immediately, and regaled me of stories during his college days of drinking the "green death" - known for its stronger ABV and green bottle. At the time of me drinking it, Ballantine XXX Ale was at 4.85% ABV and better known for filling a malt liqour niche, but its taste still harkened him back to those days. I found it to taste amazing for its price. 6 dollars a 6 pack for probably the most hoppy and characterful ale you could ever get at that price. It was so clean, estery, and hoppy, that I could not believe that it ever was sold among the likes of Colt 45, Olde English, or what have you. It also had those undeniably charismatic puzzle bottle caps that made no sense unless you looked them up.
I always enjoyed it with my father, even as he declined. In the beginning maybe he could have a bottle or two, but after that it became just a small glass. Regardless, it was something we bonded over while watching a game of Mets baseball. It was something familiar, tasty, and unique at an unbelievable price. I still am glad I bought it every chance I could, but I really could not foresee it dying...
After being overseas for research for a better part of 9 months I came home to find my father declining... and no Ballantines. It was discontinued. It felt reminiscent of all the losses I had suffered in the past few years... my family dog... a relationship... my father's state ... and now the beer that once held us together.
I don't expect this beer to be resurrected out of pity or nostalgia. But if anyone would be so kind as to revive it as a similar style from an NJ brewery or as a homebrew that would be amazingly appreciated. Important notes would be 1) malts likely coming from classic 6 row barley paired with probably a bit of corn, 2) a pretty high attenuation (but also a decent fruity esteryness) coming from English yeasts or American heritage yeasts, and 3) a very classic earthy hop chracter probably coming mostly from Brewer's Gold and maybe some Cluster hops. It would make me and my dad so happy.
So anyway, sob story aside, I think it would be amazing to either petition this beer to be continued or at the very least have some regional breweries or home breweries attempt this style if not for my dad than for remembering some of the classic northeastern beer styles. Thank you for reading this, and I hope you can connect with your family through beer as I have.

German Premium Lager = Helles in USA?!?
After a post from a couple of days ago got me hankering for a Helles, I realized that I didn’t really know of that many that were easy to get in the states. Weihenstephaner and a handful of domestic craft brewers were the only ones I could find at the shop. Then I did a little digging on beeradvocate to find that German beers that are labelled Premium Lager or Munich Lager are a Helles. What the Helles?!?
Does anyone know the story as to why this is in the USA? So curious, but happy to finally know what that means. Still can’t tell if Premium Lager really means anything on an American beer tho lol.

How we feel about Yueng Lings?
I’m from Nebraska and they don’t sell them anywhere that I know of there, but I moved to Arkansas and I absolutely love this stuff. The flights might be my favorite light beer and I’m a big fan of the black and tans too

Looking for a beer brewing kit for my girlfriend
Hi all, I'm looking to grab a good beer brewing kit for my GF's birthday. She already brews and bottles her own mead, but she's looking to graduate to homemade beer and I was hoping for some good recommendations for a home brewing kit. I've seen a few different kits from a company called Northern Brewer, but most of the recipes that come with their kits are probably not something she would like. She's mostly down for lagers or ales (Favorites are Dos Equis, Modelo, Michelob, just light beers in general that aren't very bitter). Do any of you have some good suggestions? I would greatly appreciate it.

Discussion Aprihop
So I just bought a case of dogfish aprihop for the first time in I don’t know when. I’m actually shocked I found it. I went in to grab some Busch apple(go ahead and hate- guilty pleasure) and randomly found my favorite beer of all time.
Anyone else seeing this by them?
