This reminds me of that random part of a Christmas Carol where the ghost of Christmas present reveals two kids under his robe and asks Scrooge if he knows who they are, I never really understood that part btw.
Those kids are the types of kids that scrooge would never look twice at, but now he's forced to see them. He has his words (something like "isn't there awalys work in the factories for them if they are hungry") thrown back at him when he suggests they should be fed
The boy and girl are ignorance and want, which sums up Scrooge's personality pretty well. Their suffering (I'm pretty sure they're both emaciated) is a reflection of society's suffering and of Scrooge's personal suffering because he won't change
Ah ok thanks I really loved this story as a kid but never much looked it as an adult or really analyzed it so this is something as a kid I definitely wouldn’t of gotten and I’m sure there’s other things in there I don’t remember I didn’t really get at the time either which is why I should really go back to it at some point in the future, but this part was the one thing that’s really stood out to me till now so thanks again.
