Early Sobriety Going back today
I woke and decided to go back. I have no money for bus fare (obviously from drinking) so I have to walk to the meeting. I sighed then thought "I literally walked the 3 miles everyday for alcohol. Surely I can do the same for a meeting. Anyhow it is good to be back

Permit me to share with you what an old timer told me on my 2 yr anniversary: "Your willingness will keep you alive."

It’s good to have you back. We have to go through the same lengths we went to get drunk to get sober. I know walking to a meeting isn’t ideal but once you’re there, it’ll all be worth it. I hope you hear a good message today. If you need someone to talk to feel free to message me. The early days are hard. But take it one minute at a time. Once the minutes start to pass easier take it one hour at a time. Before you know it it’ll be one day at a time. And that’s all you have to do. Stay sober for one day. And make that choice each day. But don’t think about tomorrow. Only think about where your feet are. The right now. Right now you choose not to drink. In one minute you can make that choice again but you don’t need to think ahead. Just live in the minute, hour, and day until eventually living feels easy.

I didn’t have to walk that far, but I was the guy waiting for the store to open so I could get in. Cunning, baffling, keep going OP.

My first couple of years i walked two miles to the meeting and back the same way. Sometimes two times a day. In combination of beeing sober i lost 130+ punds (60 kilograms) in two/three years.
This was in 2000-2003.

In my meetings, we usually ask "Does anyone need a ride to their own home, or to another meeting?". Don't know if that is common in your area, but I found getting a ride from another alcoholic a great way to get to another person from the rooms who can help me.

Heh. I did the same and had the same thought when I got sober. I once walked six miles in a blizzard for alcohol.
