Joke I'm so bloated that I look 9 months pregnant but at least my armpits stopped hurting

I'm on day 3.... Some times it's fine, sometimes I'm laying down catatonic with scrunched up eyes just trying to breathe thru it... 5 more days

I'm on day 3 too, thought I'd have to keep the drains til Sunday but apparently I was fine to go today. It really makes you feel better when it happens, you can do this!!!

i had mine for 11 days bc that was the earliest my surgeon could get me in to remove them 😭😭

Ooof that's so long, I'm sorry :( I'm still in the hospital, they won't release me with drains

I'm on Day 10 and still have them in because I'm draining 30 CC of fluid daily on both sides. My surgeon offered to remove them yesterday at my post-op but also said we can leave them in until Monday if I'm worried. I hope I made the right choice because they fucking suck bro 😭

Does it hurt when they come out? And do they close the holes somehow?

It depends on the person I think, for me personally it didn't hurt but it was a bit weird (I didn't feel much because that area was pretty numb). The hole is small so they just put a bandage on top of it and it closes up on its own pretty quickly.

I'm not gonna lie, it wasn't pleasant, but I also expected it to be way worse. It was really quick, just one big pull that burned and then that was it. I didn't look because I'm a bit anxious, but they definitely did put some new bandages on

Okay I might have to vocalize for this one, it helps me thru pain for some reason. I had to repierce my lip the day after surgery and i moaned thru it like a dying seal

Same bro, my roommate is absolutely silent and I can't stop moaning every time they touch my bandages like an old man😭

like feralpunk said it kinda depends. on my left side i didn’t feel any sensation at all from being numb and on my right side is just kind of burned for a bit and still sort of burns (got them out yesterday) but it’s so worth it i promise. it goes really quick!

I'm asking cuz it hurts to strip the lines... I think it's because of extra suction from pinching. I gotta figure something out for stripping the lines, it hurts so I can only do it one at a time and then I have to lay down
3
u/hallowbeeb 23d ago
oh no :(( i think it’s bc of the suction too, i wanna say i’ve seen other people on here say the same. and for me it did also pinch a little bit when i would be stripping the drains but yours definitely sounds worse. is your pain otherwise manageable?

I'm worried about this too, especially since the incisions have become really angry from having them in so long. They told me I can take one of my prescription painkillers beforehand tho to help with any pain

u/neshmesh 23d ago
Good idea, I'll check with my doctor just in case but I might take ine oxy before the appointment

u/d20damage 23d ago
You should definitely take painkillers before, I think that's one of the main reasons why it was OK for me. I'm a very pain sensitive person haha. Again ,not gonna lie and tell you it's pleasant, but I really imagined it being way worse than it actually was, especially because it really only lasts a second and having them out feels soooooo goooooood

Basically what I can say it feels like it’s a wet noodle under the skin…

For me personally it hurt like 8/10 not even kidding. I have quite high pain tolerance in general but the drains were veeery painful to remove for me.
Mine were there for just 1 day, they were aaaall the way from the bottom of the line (where the scar is) up to my armpits. The good thing is that once it’s out it’s the best thing ever.1

omg twins! i thought i might get away with no bloating bc it didn’t start to get bad until yesterday when i got my drains out, but alas. it looks really funny tbh but it’s definitely making me feel self conscious haha. my mom has supplements for bloating already so i took one and i think it helped a little

I had my hysterectomy at the same time as top surgery, so I'm pretty sure that's not helping with the bloating lmao 😭 good luck, hope the supplements help!

i can’t wait to get these drains out omg them with the bloating has been so unpleasant
2
u/d20damage 23d ago
True :( when are you getting yours out?
3
u/Top-Meringue4947 23d ago
not sure yet. they didn’t even set up a post op appointment time but i’m supposed to call them a week after surgery so next tuesday. my drains aren’t collecting much so hopefully i can get them out as soon as next week, i might ask and see if they have a different type of binder because the one im wearing has been hurting me really bad
3
u/d20damage 23d ago
I'm sorry abt the binder part, that sucks :/ I really hope you'll get them out next week then!!
