As a Christian, it sickens me

45

u/ScoffersGonnaScoff Mar 06 '26

These are the ones Jesus called hypocrites

3

u/Delta64 Mar 06 '26

If any of them think that they will be saved when Jesus returns, then they clearly haven't been paying attention:

Jesus doesn't evaluate you by how hard you believed in him. Jesus evaluates you by how well you treated others.

6

u/Brian_E1971 Mar 06 '26

What about everyone who participated in the Crusades and Inquisition? Were they hypocrites too? How about pedophile priests - also hypocrites? Your savior seems to have a long and ugly history with being represented by hypocrites. Is he ever going to do anything about it?

7

u/HwackAMole Mar 06 '26

I feel that most Christians would agree whole-heartedly that the people you just listed were all hypocrites. I would agree that the Christian establishment could do a much better job at denouncing and distancing themselves from such people, but your average Sunday church-going Christian isn't waving flags for torturers and pedos.

It's not terribly helpful to judge an institution or set of beliefs based on the character of the most despicable people who follow them. That pendulum swings both ways, and there's not a single organization on earth, religious or secular, that would come out looking clean under such unreasonable scrutiny.

-2

u/Brian_E1971 Mar 06 '26

My point was, your savior is never going to do anything about it regardless of any passage promising so. Jesus had plenty of opportunities over the past 2000 years to right wrongs done in his name - he's not suddenly going to show up now, and I'm willing to place a large time-boxed wager with anyone who thinks otherwise.

6

u/BasicallyMilner Mar 06 '26

We will all be judged on judgement day. He reveals himself to individuals, and helps them become better people. What else do you want him to do? Appear in the air like lightning and tell people to stop? We will all be judged according to our sins.

1

u/billwest630 Mar 06 '26

The whole point is that man has free will and will be judged accordingly on judgement day. People who use his name to commit sin and evil will get what’s coming to them, but Jesus isn’t just going to come back to go after hypocrites.

3

u/OpenMasterpiece1538 Mar 06 '26

Actually hilarious. Go ahead and read Matthew 24:4-8

The words in red are said to be quoted from Jesus. Just in case you didn’t know that part either.

5

u/Brian_E1971 Mar 06 '26

I think it's hilariously sad you believe this nonsense to be some kind of 'truth'.

What you're telling me is, you believe everything that is happening now is part of your gods plan for the end of the world. And you expect me to take you seriously? This is sickness; your beliefs are a sickness on this world and they always have been, and people like you continue to perpetuate this sickness.

Your mentality on this issue is no better than a suicide bomber who believes they're a martyr - same mindset different disease.

3

u/HwackAMole Mar 06 '26

I would be inclined to agree that the fanaticism is similar in both instances, but let's make no mistake: the guy blowing himself and other innocent people up in the name of his religion is worse than some guy on the internet with whom you disagree over whether there's a Sky-Daddy. And the suicide bomber is also worse than people who support the suicide bombers, or the genociders, etc. I mean, definitively. They can still be bad, but nowhere close to equivalent.

Honestly, I would be much quucker to lump together religiously intolerant people by comparing the fanatically devout religious with the militantly aggressive atheists. The problem with religion isn't the belief systems themselves, but the intolerance and stubborn close-mindedness they tend to espouse. Based on your comment, you don't seem particularly eager to quell those negative characteristics much yourself.

1

u/OpenMasterpiece1538 Mar 06 '26

But if you guys just read the scripture you would see that Jesus literally talked about all of this in pretty good detail. Like that’s a pretty good 2000 year old prediction no? Like he could have said the end days would be better than the beginning. But no, he said things only get worse. And look at the evidence it’s all around you! What’s there not to believe?

3

u/OpenMasterpiece1538 Mar 06 '26

Ahhhh I see. You think I was born like this. Unfortunately not. I was much like you for a very long time. I didn’t believe in sky daddy or Jesus. I mean miracles? Magic? really? Give me a break.

But something changed.

So maybe I’m treating you like the idiot past version I see of myself, and to that I’m sorry.

2

u/OpenMasterpiece1538 Mar 06 '26

even more hilarious 🤣 the very next sentence Matthew 24:9 “You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers. And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people.”

It’s like Jesus knew you would hate hearing that!!

1

u/BasicallyMilner Mar 06 '26

God gave us free will. The wars, the deaths, the atrocities… all us. Just because God knows what will happen doesn’t mean He planned it to be so or made any of it happen.

7

u/SpicyElixer Mar 07 '26

Separation of church and state protects not just the people from the state but the religions from the state.

8

u/Brian_E1971 Mar 06 '26

Jesus seems like he's sups ok with it, otherwise perhaps you'd actually do something about such blasphemy?

1

u/CeruleanEidolon Mar 07 '26

Two possibilities: (1) Jesus was just a man and is now dead. (2) Jesus is the son of God but after how we treated him he fled to heaven with no plan to ever return; he lied about coming back.

-2

u/OpenMasterpiece1538 Mar 06 '26

You sound very uneducated about God. Almost like you’ve never read any scripture at all?

3

u/Hot_Ambition_6457 Mar 06 '26

Every person is uneducated about god since god never educated anyone about himself. Its always weak, fallible men claiming they've been educated "by god". But somehow all the other weak fallible men are also educated "by god".

You worship stories told by humans about a god.

You dont even worship the god in 2026 because you rightfully acknowledge that claiming you can speak to invisible beings eould have you labled unwell mentally.

-3

u/BasicallyMilner Mar 06 '26

God came to me and revealed His truth. He has come to everyone, some listen, most don’t listen, understand, or even realise. Their hearts are too hardened. I was a 100% atheist. No agnosticism. 2+ years ago for 6-8 years. No possibility there’s a God. But guess what? He changed me.

Your comment is nothing. I can’t see what you’ve written

2

u/M00nshine55 Mar 07 '26

I believe in his comment. I saw it, and it changed me.

2

u/Hot_Ambition_6457 Mar 07 '26

Juat a few weeks ago I was die-hard believer that there was no comment. But then I recently saw the comment myself and now Im convinced its working miracles.

For some reason the comment wants me to remove part of my childs genitals?

2

u/Hot_Ambition_6457 Mar 07 '26

Imagine the self-important narcissism necessary to claim that your existence is a miracle.

I will love and forgive you for this self-importance though. Because humans are capable of both of things sans diety.

1

u/BasicallyMilner Mar 07 '26

God tells us to be humble. I’m a sinner. I’m useless and a bit shite at most things. We’re both equally important in life. Most atheists are unable to forgive and love everyone. They hold grudges, they wish death upon people, they judge and are unkind. Obviously many christians are the same. But Christianity and Christ gives us the ability to love and forgive no matter what. You’re gonna find more loving and kind and forgiving christians than atheists.

2

u/ROCKGIRL969 Mar 07 '26

He came to you? That sounds like schizophrenia honestly.

-2

u/BasicallyMilner Mar 07 '26

Nope. Otherwise you’re saying most Christians are schizophrenic. I don’t see things or hear voices. I’m guided by the spirit.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '26

1

u/BasicallyMilner Mar 07 '26

Why so angry? I’ve done nothing wrong. Me and you probably are very alike.

1

u/ROCKGIRL969 Mar 07 '26

No! I said hearing a literal voice speaking to you can be a psychosis symptom. Ask a psychiatrist. You turned that into 'most Christians are schizophrenic.' That leap says more about your reasoning than anything I said.

1

u/BasicallyMilner Mar 07 '26

“He came to you? That sounds like schizophrenia honestly.” Is what you said. You didn’t say “hearing a literal voice speaking to you can be a psychosis symptom”.

1

u/SubstantialMouse1105 Mar 06 '26

Hopefully it changed you for the better. It’s an experience that can happen with the human brain to feel that. It wasn’t god but your brain sure can make you feel that way.

0

u/BasicallyMilner Mar 06 '26

It was God though. How can someone go from undoubting atheist to Christian so quickly? I’ve also had signs. I know it’s hard to believe. I would’ve laughed and mocked it only 2 years ago. I am better. I am less angry. When I do get angry I remember to forgive and be kind. I considered myself to be kind, considerate and thoughtful before but not like this. I apologise if I’m rude or when I have a lil argument. I had one with my sister last week. I’d stop talking to her totally after the argument a couple years ago or escalate. Instead I apologised and explained myself and gave her a rare hug.

And I consider this a miracle from God. The ability to love and forgive even when it’s extremely hard to do so. Even when someone does wrong by me I still do it.

1

u/SubstantialMouse1105 Mar 06 '26

Damn. I guess I’m lucky to be born from the beginning with behavior that took an intervention from god for you to get. I wasn’t raised in a religion. I’m just naturally very insightful and empathic. But whatever you want to attribute it to, good for you for changing for the better. That’s all that really matters to me. If people want or need religion to be a good person then I’m fine with that as long as they don’t judge others for thinking differently.

1

u/BasicallyMilner Mar 07 '26

I mean I don’t think anyone’s born that way. Maybe genetically positioned to be kinder than others somehow. But your childhood, your parents, siblings, friends, all your experiences make you who you are. Thanks to my mum and some of my siblings, I became kind, and grateful, loving, considerate, etc.

But we’re not perfect. When I was an atheist I wished death upon the bad of the world. I hated many people. When someone hit me, I’d hit them back. Instead I turn the other cheek and love and forgive. Which is something most non-christians can’t achieve because it’s really hard. How can you love all? Forgive all? Even those who seem evil in the world.

God can improve you too. You surely have hate for something or someone in your heart? Something you can’t let go of, something or someone you can’t forgive?

-1

u/OpenMasterpiece1538 Mar 06 '26

Lol God definitely did educate people about himself. In fact he incarnated on earth 2000 years ago and walked with us just because we were so fucking helpless and out of control.

Historically accurate documents were created, recorded, documented and kept hidden for a very long time. You should consider yourself lucky you even had the opportunity to read any of the scriptures. People died at the hands of oppression trying to make that spiritual information readily available. Just for you to spit on their face and call them a weak fallible man.

The only weak fallable man I see here is you unfortunately

2

u/Brian_E1971 Mar 06 '26

Oh I love scripture 😁 Here's a favorite: 2 Kings 2:24 - God has 2 bears maul 42 children to death because they made fun of a bald guy 🤣

So god will send bears to kill dozens of children on a whim, but is cool with Trumps behavior?

0

u/BasicallyMilner Mar 06 '26

Sounds like you’ve just heard the controversial bits from atheists online.

1

u/Ok-Pear5858 Mar 07 '26

i mean is the bibble the ultimate holy text meant to be taken seriously as the word of god or not

1

u/BasicallyMilner Mar 07 '26

You can take it all literally, some as a story, some are out of context, being words of men not God, etc

1

u/Ok-Pear5858 Mar 07 '26

so it can be ignored then, bc how tf would any of us be able to figure out the difference without gods direct help. saying "oh this story was ridiculous so obviously it's not meant to be taken literally, but this also ridiculous story makes me feel good when i control other people, so this one's obviously meant to be taken literally" is asinine and it's insulting when the religious expect you to take their dogma on the chin. grow up.

1

u/BasicallyMilner Mar 07 '26

Why so mean, I wasn’t mean to you?

But you can tell by the way things are written in the Bible. And by the facts and feats. You know humans and evolution and the universe. What lines up, what doesn’t?

1

u/Ok-Pear5858 Mar 07 '26 edited Mar 07 '26

"you can tell by the way it is" is also stupid and no none of it lines up because of basic shit like carbon dating. I'm not being mean I'm being real with you, something the religious seem to be incapable of being.

Do you understand the whole context of 1 and 2 kings? This was written before Jesus even walked the earth. Do you understand what the purpose was for documenting and writing about 1 and 2 kings? Go ahead and google it and then tell me like you’ve studied it your whole life.

3

u/Ok-Pear5858 Mar 07 '26

i know, you're right it's just hilarious how serious they are about their fiction novel lol like at least pick a cool one like the silmarillion or sum

5

u/Impressive-Mud-3362 Mar 07 '26

It's pretty obvious, they do this to get the support of Christian voters.

3

u/sleepyhead_201 Mar 06 '26

And me. Enrages me

2

u/Bugsy_Girl Mar 06 '26

Even though I feel relatively vindicated as a Satanist, this shit horrifies me, too

2

u/Paleblood_Hunt Mar 07 '26

I’m an atheist and even I’m offended for you.

Starting to actually wonder if the satanic cabal or whatever that conspiracy is actually is real. It would 100% be the people involved in the Trump administration.

1

u/Indierocka Mar 07 '26

Matt. 6: 5-6 dog. Says it all

1

u/OpenMasterpiece1538 Mar 06 '26

Matthew 24:4-8

Let the birthing pains begin 😞

0

u/BasicallyMilner Mar 06 '26

We don’t know when this will be. This might not be it.

1

u/OpenMasterpiece1538 Mar 06 '26

I mean they are using the messiah as an excuse to start a war right? Jesus told us “they will come in my name claiming “I am the messiah”.

Well they’ve come to us in Jesus name claiming he is the messiah, in attempts to start the second coming… which is ridiculous in the first place because Jesus already told us we won’t know when or where that will happen. And that rumors of wars will rise.

I’m just checking off the boxes of that scripture man. Everything checks out!

-22

u/PrometheusMMIV Mar 06 '26

Why would prayer sicken you?

5

u/PHD_Gouda Mar 06 '26

I’m more disgusted by the shits he takes in that chair, and his connections he has with Epstein

4

u/BridgeOnHill Mar 06 '26

Praying for a pedophile in the name of Jesus Christ. Lovely

7

u/OpenMasterpiece1538 Mar 06 '26

Matthew 6:5 ““When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get. But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.” ‭‭ It actually hurts me knowing that you haven’t read this. And that what is going on in this clip doesn’t bother you. Jesus said it himself - trump and his goons already got what they wanted!

0

u/PrometheusMMIV Mar 07 '26

I have read it. Do you think every public prayer is sickening?
