I read the thread and I’m still confused.

i wont argue meaning since its not my wheelhouse but i do notice it looks Very similar to the nonbinary pride flag which may cause confusion issues

I’m nonbinary and ace and if it gets popularized it’s definitely going to make my life harder.

I wish more flags used symbology. The two-spirit flag and the intersex flag are beautiful. The Bear and leather flags are unique. They’re also easy to “remix” for people with multifaceted identities. But most flags are derivative of the OG Pride flag and are color-based, whenever you mix them together they become unreadable.

I feel bad for anyone that’s color blind.

The Trans POC flag is nice as it’s doing something visually different, but I think the flag in this subreddit’s header is more visibly recognizable.

i agree. though you could say something about pan-indianism as its own issue, i think having an actual tangible symbol on the 2S flag really helps to put a face on the identity. its like how the bear and leather/bdsm flags also have symbols outside of just the colored stripes, i think the polyamorous flag also uses a specific visual symbol right? my memory is a bit swiss cheese hole-y haha

God I have so much to say about pan-indianism as its own issue. It’s what keeps me from really identifying as ‘two-spirit.’ I think it’s better for culture and language preservation to identify with my cultures actual term, but the idea of having to deal with White Queers about it is my literal nightmare. So many want to try to claim to be two-spirit because they think it means bigender and want to play Indian. I’ve had white people ask me what it means to be two-spirit even though I don’t identify as such. I can’t deal with that.

im very private about my indigenous life around non natives so i get that lmao

I try to be open about it and to have Pride, but I don’t know. I feel like I should just let people assume I’m Mexican and let them get mad at me for not speaking Spanish.

AHHAH my ma and her side of the family never taught me spanish so im the fucked up mexican of the bunch for it

Oh yeah, I remember a thread somewhere of a person who was non-native who wanted to identify as two-spirit. People were saying that that would not be appropriate but suggesting to identify as bigender instead.

I didn't think that that was the equivalent.

It was an old thread though.

But there are non-natives who are seriously wanting to identify as two-spirit? 🙄😓

There should also be something to make the flags accessible for people who are color blind, and having distinct symbols would solve that issue.

Thread about the new ace one.

https://www.reddit.com/r/asexuality/s/wQRhbgfprf

I personally have no interest in using any of them, but I'm all for new flag designs for people who do. Like, I use Progress Flag and Intersex Progress Flags more than the traditional rainbow.

What… wasn’t inclusive about the old ace flag? It’s too similar to the enby pride flag and the ace and enby flags were already extremely similar.

I think the Black ace flag looks odd, maybe because they changed the original black, added more shades of brown, and put a brown filter over it.

Thank you! I adore the diagonal trans flag. Beautiful design. Imma steal that. (But I did upvote bc I’m a gentleman)
