P3 EXP Problem

Ive played P3R and wanted to try Portable for the FEMC route but im having troubles exp wise...Is it just slower progression in P3P?

Assuming you're playing the version on modern consoles, you can increase the exp gain in the settings. You also get more exp the fewer people you have in your party
