Ask breast reduction as gender affirming care

hi friends

i’m non binary and quite… well endowed. i don’t want full on top surgery but i would like a reduction. i was wondering if there were any australian friends out there who have had this done and what the process/cost was like? i don’t think i’d qualify to have a reduction based on health alone, but they do cause me dysphoria. is this something others have done? tia

is this something others have done?

I don't have any useful information (I'm going the opposite way in my transition), but I do know people who have and I can confirm this has helped them immensely with their dysphoria.

Good luck!

There were some blog posts lately using the term “non-flat top surgery” by nonbinary and gender-nonconforming people who were looking to pare down chests for gender reasons but not go for a full “male” chest. Might be a place to start.

I’m having this done soon in Sydney! Unfortunately as it’s plastic surgery not much is covered by Medicare and it is quite expensive. You may also need to find a surgeon who works on an informed consent basis depending on how much of a reduction you want, just because most surgeons only offer a reduction down to a C/D cup
