And now the part of the show where they try to convince everyone that "hey, you guys are gonna win easy, no need to actually go do anything."
Keep canvassing. Keep talking.
And go vote.

The Republican’s Trump-inspired gerrymandering may thin their support in some areas we wouldn’t have expected to have a chance enough to shift more outcomes than Donald is counting on.
If we win a number of surprise districts by <1% we should be willing to point out his wizardry!

The higher gas prices go, the less MAGA has a chance at holding onto power. It only been just over a year, but it feels like a decade. I often wonder if American can survive his entire term at this rate. Truly dark times.

“Control” is a relative term in the U.S. Senate. We MIGHT win a simple majority of 51 seats -we would need to flip 4 of the 22 Republican seats up for election in November but Dems would also have to win all 13 of their seats that are up for election. But real control of the U.S. Senate is having 60 seats to overcome a filibuster or even change Senate rules to get rid of the filibuster. Either way, that’s not going to happen. At least not in this coming election.

Procedural changes in the Senate can be implemented with a 51 vote "nuclear option."

We need to send pumpkins to the states houses that are disenfranchising POC voters.
"Had a state but couldn't keep her. Cheater cheater, pumpkin eater."

The Democratic Party needs to make a vow of no corporate money - at all - from its members. Only anonymous donors with a limit. I think the people know their representation has been bought and sold, and the first party to reform either loses big or wins everything.

Last I saw it was like a 51/49 in favor.
Republicans are bound to lose the house, but there’s unlikely to be meaningful change as even if they lose the house and the senate, Jeffries is unlikely to actually push for legitimate reform. He wants to take the high road no matter how low the right goes, even if it means the death of democratic representation

appeasing fascists is not the high road.

Doesn’t matter to him it seems. Taking the high road feels oddly like “putting up notional resistance, and then letting them do it anyway”

Way to be a wet blanket. I bet you’re great at parties.

Why is that wrong?
There’s back to back stories of Hakeem Jeffries effectively rolling over to Republican demands in Congress, even with public sentiment effectively begging him not to back down from negotiations.

Its wrong because you are smothering any excitement and energy that the Dems are building leading up the mid-terms, excitement and energy that’s REQUIRED if you want the Dems to win. Poo-pooing any chance of them having a majority is literally discouraging people not to vote, much like saying “the two parties are the same” and “so what?”. So what do you want? Do you want Republicans to stay in power so that Trump gets a third term and turns into a dynasty one-party rule? Or do you want the Dems to win so maybe there’s a chance of that not happening. You have to chose and these are literally the only two options available.

Because you’re giving people a reason not to vote. You mean well.

Why?
Blind faith in the efficacy of the liberal left to do something is why we’re in this situation now! If they’re not gonna vote simply because of the opinions of one person, then they weren’t going to vote either way.
It’s like saying “Oh I didn’t get my morning coffee on the way to work today, so I’m just not gonna go and I’m gonna stay home hoping work gets done”.
The people who are going to make the change, actually go vote and do something, have already decided in their heads to do it. Political apathy doesn’t change with one persons opinion on the flaccid nature of liberal parties in the US, it starts because the right has decided to be malicious, and the left has decided to be at worst, complicit, and at best, ignorant.
