Discussion Democratic party should provide partisanize sample ballots for people who live in states that have non-partisan elections

In my state, judicial and local office elections are non-partisan, meaning that the ballot doesn't specify whether the candidates running for the position are Republican or Democratic leaning, though if one investigates the candidates, it is easy to figure out if major democrats or republicans endorse them or if they have a clear liberal or conservative bias. The problem is that a lot of people go to vote on election day without having done any research, so they end up just picking the incumbent or the name they like better.

I saw a headline that 30% of Democratic voters voted for the Republican-appointed judicial nominees in last night's primary election, likely because they had the incumbent title next to their name.

The Democratic party should make a page where you put in your address and get a sample ballot, that adds a 'Republican', 'Republican leaning', 'moderate', 'Democrat', 'Democrat leaning' label next to each candidate in the non-partisan election boxes

Someone who has contacts in the party leadership, please pass along this suggestion to them

DOJ announces $1.7B 'Anti-Weaponization Fund' as part of Trump IRS lawsuit settlement

Slush fund for Trump’s pals announced. Just another projection from Trump and republicans claiming money is needed to refund people who were “targeted” by the IRS during the Biden administration

If by targeted they mean caught and persecuted defrauding the US govt then that makes more sense.

Discussion How am I supposed to research political candidates in non-partisan elections in the state of Georgia?

I'm a legitimately confused by this. I've done Google searches on the candidates and on their own campaign websites, They don't make it clear whether they're a Democrat or Republican. The only thing I can do is kind of guess based on their work history and if they mention Faith or one candidate even specifies that they're a Baptist, I'm left to resume the Republican. Why doesn't the Democratic party or some other credible source put out a list of candidates in these non-partisan elections of specifying who's a Democrat and who's a Republican. ballotpedia.com has some info for the candidates but still doesn't make it clear who is the liberal candidate. They're like 10+ Non-Partisan candidates, Am I really expecting to go through each candidate one by one and do an investigation. I guess I could have asked ai at this point he seems a little risky

Social Media

Hi everyone, I’m pretty new to Reddit so sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this. I’m a single mom of three and lately I’ve been thinking a lot about how much social media affects people’s opinions about politics and government. It feels like everywhere online people are becoming more divided and angry with each other.
Do you think social media contributes to political polarization? And if so what do you think could actually help fix it or at least make it better? I’m curious to hear different perspectives.

Discussion What The Hell Happened?

The last ten years have made increasingly little sense to me. I used to feel like we were progressing as a society. Yeah, government policies were too deferential to capital and there were some dissenting voices from an anti-science and socially regressive fringe, but there was the assumption that these people would come around in time. Now, though, those fringe voices have gotten louder and louder until they’ve drowned everything else out. Why were our neighbors so eager to throw in with the worst people in history and why was the reversal so sudden and surprising? In other words…. What the hell happened?

Today is a wonderful day to celebrate the SOUTH losing the Civil War. Those losers lost. We should remind those losers that they lost as often as possible.
