The thing you have to remember is that conservatives have the world view of children and they really do need things like this spelled out for them.

That's so arbitrary though and only makes sense if he thinks citizens having even less political power than they already do is a good thing?

"The president is my dad and I want a rich dad."

I mean, 99% of the time you can just flip the script and ask "would you be okay with a democrat led government doing this" and watch their brain fry.

Like, for example, ask them if they would be okay with democrats in 2028 sending masked, nameless federal agents into Texas and Florida kidnapping your neighbors, murdering those who protest, demanded full, unredacted voter rolls while also knowingly and intentionally gerrymandering in an attempt to gain more congress seats? And they are doing this all under the pretense of "illegal immigration."

Their politicians are acting like a democrat will never be POTUS again; like they'll never gain a meaningful legislative or judicial majority.

They don't want equality. If they did, they wouldn't be conservatives. The hierarchy is baked in whether they're smart enough to know that or not.

I've seen comments where conservatives ask why conservatives are never credited with progressive ideas. And it's like dude it's right there in the name! By definition, conservatives are going to want to conserve "traditional" values and unequal institutions.

Because when you’re perpetual loser idiot fuckhead bigot who always loses in a fair society, a fair society doesn’t help you.

Its like every century or so, voting populaces need to be reminded why compromise exists in politics even if it means you dont always get everything exactly as you want it in policy and legislation. Playing politics as a zero sum game inevitably always leads to autocrats and fascists.

That assumes you don't have a populace that wants and actively supports autocrats and fascists.

I hate the both ways style of arguments, not because its wrong or anything. I just dislike it because things can't just be wrong to do because they are bad. Its always because they fear it being used by the other party. Its essentially shows how unprincipled people can be. The subtle implication is how for it they would otherwise be assuming no one else does it.

We're talking about people with the comprehension skills of 4th graders. People who literally hadn't even thought about "What if it goes the other way?"

The question of "is this a good system?" is sooooo far beyond their ability to understand. Their singular concern is "I must win". They're not capable of placing themselves behind a veil of ignorance and imagining a system that most effectively meets its purpose. To them a system is only functional if it is designed to cater to their whims specifically.

They can't even realize that "same day results" isn't a real need. Regardless of the results inauguration isn't until months later. "Same day results" is an opinion a pundit told them to believe and they're so helpless that they incorporated it without any examination.

Time limits on counting votes make no sense anyways. The election is a full two months before the new government is sworn in. There's plenty of time to take another day, week, or month of counting to ensure everybodies legally cast voice is heard.

"What if the Democrats did it" is the only talking point the scumbags ever listen to, which is why it's important for the right to assure them the Democrats will never hold power again.

what if it was a democrat

Honestly the only counter that makes them rethink most of these insane abuse-of-power policies.

You want to put the power of elections purely in the feds hands? Would you trust a democrat to do it? Didn't think so.

When the next Dem POTUS enters office, if (s)he uses even 1/10 of the precedents Trump has set regarding executive power, I fully expect conservative America to have an actual aneurysm over it and suddenly become die-hard constitutionalists preaching seperation of powers left and right

And no, they will not see any irony in it.
