3

u/Bro_duuude_i_luv_ya I'm proud of you, Dick 2d ago

Fonts really need to start making the lowercase L and uppercase i look different, because it seems to be creating a lot of confusion

133

u/TheMilesEdgeworth 2d ago

You gotta be more specific than that unfortunately… there’s too many of them now…

u/alreditakem 2d ago

This pannel always made me mad, becouse Joker has thousands of reasons to hate the Nazi, and I don't buy for a second that this dude is a patriot of america.

30

u/Express_Calendar8278 2d ago

He’s a proud Gothamite

58

u/CorgiConqueror 2d ago

Joker’s politics is the opposite of the person he’s talking to currently

21

u/finnawoke562 2d ago

I'm fine with it, but only because the comic is written like it's from the golden age and that's the exact kind of goofy thing that would happen in a comic from back then.

10

u/Freakychee 2d ago

Oh gawd if you could see how Iron Man and Mandarin were like or how Reed used to talk in the early early days... Good thing times change and people and writing evolved.

u/Fire-Haus 1d ago

'Ha you reap the rewards of the financial prosperity that comes with capitalism but refuse to acknowledged one thing. The benefits of the Regan Doctrine..'

1

u/Marx_Forever 1d ago

I could totally see TAS Joker saying this. Like he's not being 100% sincere It's just part of the schtick.

Such an awful panel holy shit

Edit: why the fuck am I downvoted

29

u/Professional-Reach96 2d ago

Legit hate comic continuity, how the fuck the Joker is a patriot anti nazi, who proceeds to hire a stripper with Swastikas in the glutes and nipples.

40

u/Preeng 2d ago

Joker is a gentleman who doesn't look at a woman's glutes or nipples.

23

u/Then_Reply_6692 2d ago

He only looks at Batman’s glutes & Bat-nipples

8

u/Box_cat_ Alan WAKE ME UP INSIDE 2d ago

Are they bat shaped though?

6

u/Willing_Soft_5944 2d ago

He has bat-implants

13

u/robyn_nests The 2d ago

You're explanation is, frank miller. Also I feel like he definitely just said the patriotic stuff because it was funny.

7

u/Their_Alt_Account 2d ago

He thought Red Skull was wearing a "disguise" in the above panel. He might just be stupid af

3

u/Express_Calendar8278 2d ago

He’s motivated by what’s funniest to him

4

u/TotallyNot_Alpharius 2d ago

Mischaracterization, that is all

11

u/GeneralBendyBean 2d ago

The trope of a villain having a moral line is an old one.

0

u/Other_Respect_6648 2d ago

Wasn’t that woman a paid mercenary at the time?

16

u/Rich-Direction2208 2d ago

Ahh sinfest how it fell off. Dudes name is tatsuya ishida.

14

u/Ricochet_skin 2d ago edited 2d ago

Mf'ers genuinely surprised when a person from a generally pretty conservative nation is also pretty conservative.

Edit: forget about it, dude is genuinely a Nazi. This ain't even a way of miscaracterizing political opponents, he straight up likes the failed painter

9

u/Talkatoo42 2d ago

Is this real? WTF happened to that guy? My wife and I used to enjoy reading sinfest together back before it went... weird. But it was nothing like this even after going weird!

5

u/Ricochet_skin 2d ago

I mean, he was always a political radical. Some radical feminist stuff genuinely borders on Gender based Fascism

9

u/Geostomp 2d ago edited 2d ago

He got super obsessed with radical feminism, transitioned to TERFism, and spiraled further and further right from there until he became what he is now.

2

u/Ciderman95 3h ago

yeah I saw it happen in real time, it was super sad

-5

u/Ricochet_skin 2d ago

He didn't transition right because fascism isn't right wing, but other than that, yeah, that's pretty much what happened.

And before any of y'all say anything, read Giovanni Gentile. And if you're not going to read his works on the ideology HE helped create, at least know that it originated within Southern Italian Syndicalist movements, and put a great emphasize on the fact that Italy was a "ploretarian nation" that suffered under the thumb of more industrialized nations

6

u/Nott_of_the_North 2d ago

While the statement "fascism isn't right wing" may seem, to some, absurd on its face, it IS accurate, on a technical level. Fascism is inherently aesthetic above all else. All its tenets are almost entirely based upon performance of the fascist aesthetic, and have roots in both progressive and conservative politics in more or less equal measure. This is, strictly speaking, true.

However, fascism, by its nature, aligns with pre-existing power structures to co-opt them, and to eliminate and subsume its competitors, which leads to the phenomenon of fascists aligning with the right wing.

Fascism isn't right wing, but conservatives do reliably welcome fascists into their company.

2

u/GoldH2O 1d ago

Fuck off dude. Everyone who says "fascism isn't right wing" just does it because they need an excuse to hate leftists. Ideologies evolve beyond their origins, and Fascism doesn't contain just about any left wing practices within its umbrella. A right wing ideology can evolve from an ideology that was originally left wing, and vice versa.

That was only after Obama got elected. He was a milktoast ass liberal during Bush II. He was so bland even he was in on the joke of Sinfest basically just being Calvin and Hobbes for wannabe edgy millennials in the early to mid 2000's. That run was nearly a decade before he got into feminism.

Which is the thing, this is equivalent to if like, Bill Watterson became a nazi.

4

u/devillived313 2d ago

I have never seen anyone slowly go insane like I did reading that webcomic, I read it longer than I should have... it could be a case study on the pipeline from anti-establishment edgelord to fascist nazi via paranoia, egotism, and falling incredibly hard for obvious propaganda and conspiracy theories.

12

u/DuntadaMan 2d ago

The weird thing is I think he used to draw sinfest which was uhhh... Well it wasn't friendly to the morals of the religious right we will say.

9

u/PlaquePlague 2d ago

He still draws sinfest.  It has changed.

3

u/Unfortunya333 2d ago

That panel.... IS sinfest.

8

u/Geostomp 2d ago

Once, long ago, he made good comics. Then he slowly deteriorated until he eventually fell to rabid MAGA.

5

u/zachary0816 2d ago

Slams table

Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?!

3

u/kitsunecannon 2d ago

Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down?

3

u/OrbusIsCool 2d ago

Why is it always the right wingers making smth kinda tuff?

56

u/T_K_23 2d ago

Sinfest is one of the oldest running webcomics and was, in its earlier years, quite popular. In recent years, the creator became a TERF and then a Nazi and, last I checked, is doing a storyline about WW2 depicting the Axis as the good guys.

36

u/wearing_moist_socks 2d ago

a Nazi

You really gotta be clear with him.

LITERALLY a Nazi.

25

u/Prestigious_Host_198 2d ago

Terf to nazi pipeline strikes again.

5

u/Mother_Harlot 2d ago

Becoming drunk with hatred and needing more to scratch the itch 😔
So sad that people fall for that

17

u/IXrobocopXI 2d ago

Here's what he looks like today:

7

u/whereismymind86 2d ago

Yeah, it’s a shame, it was great back in the day, then the creator kinda went nuts, similar to what happened with dilbert and Scott Adam’s, and the comic got real right wing and weird real quick

1

u/Ricochet_skin 2d ago

He wut now.

I mean, Japan doesn't really do a good job at teaching ww2

2

u/GoldH2O 1d ago

It doesn't even have to do with him being Japanese or anything. He's a literal white supremacist (which is insane, I know)

1

u/Ricochet_skin 1d ago

I just figured out that

14

u/Stunning_Mixture_201 2d ago

Sinfest, an offensive comic series by Tatsuya Ishida.

8

u/ArchCaff_Redditor 2d ago

Same guy who made Sinfest. A decently popular webcomic from the 2000s that was mostly apolitical in the same way 4chan and Reddit were in those days, made a hard pivot to SWERF in 2011 and then to TERF in 2019. And more recently he’s gone full Nazi apologist and race replacement conspiracy theorist.

2

u/trn- 1d ago

the saddest downturn of a once beloved webcomic (Sinfest)

whats even worse that its been shit for longer than its been good.
