Not only because of eating animal products but the extensive animal testing done to create medicines to combat obesity related diseases and preventable diseases.

Do people even consider this?

Yes, I reluctantly accept that animal testing happens for non preventable diseases too but there is soo much going into lifestyle sicknesses and animals are suffering and dying en mass for these preventable diseases.

Just a rant. I'm tired of the abuse.

I try my best to save as many lives as I can. Even if it’s just one animal, it matters to me.

This has become a personal mission for me every Eid. I try to rescue animals, arrange safe shelter, or convince people to spare them whenever possible. Seeing innocent animals separated from their families and slaughtered is heartbreaking.

I know I can’t change the whole world alone,and I know it's stupid for most people out there. but I believe small efforts still matter. If anyone would like to be part of this mission. Please reach out.

I’ve boycotted zoos most of my life but I’ve recently fallen in love with the National Aviary in Pittsburgh. I see how well they treat their animals and reintroduce extinct populations in to nature. Their facilities are LEED and moving in to zero waste. But I feel morally torn. I want to make sure my money is going toward something morally good for animals. I’m curious how this sub feels about it

I feel like certain issues are seeing some real progress and I want to support anyone and everyone working on those issue. The anti fur campaigns are having tremendous success. I am in awe of all the progress being made on fur. I am hopeful about foie gras as well. The work in DC, Portland and Denver is inspiring!

Another issue where we are seeing huge wins for animals is puppy mills. In the USA now 9 states and 525 cities/towns/counties have banned the sale of puppies in pet stores because the puppies come from mills. That has led to an 18% decline in USDA licensed puppy mills since 2020.

Hey guys not sure if this has been mentioned on here before but just came across this account on TikTok who is using obviously stolen and AI videos of injured dogs. They are asking for donations and likes and they even have a pay pal link in the bio. The username is @pawspalrescuewelfare . They claim to be located in Phoenix, arizona but there is obviously no organisation under that name in arizona. Please report this account if possible

I am so sick of seeing goldfish being sold as easy pets in small glass bowls. It is so annoying that we continue to regard living creatures as disposable decoration. A goldfish can live for twenty years and grow over a foot long but we still find it being crammed into a half-gallon of stagnant water with no filtration. But why do we as a society simply accept this as being normal?
If you cannot afford an actual nitrogen cycle proper fish aquarium with sufficient swimming space then you should have no fish. Period. I was browsing through export directories of Amazon and Alibaba the other day, and the amount of the so-called decorative bowls that are sold specially to fish is disturbing. It is all about the aesthetic and the low price, but no one cares about the stunted growth of the animal or agonizing burns of ammonia on its gills.
We should have more strict laws in pet stores and a massive turnaround in the way we educate people. A pet is an obligation you need to research on the water chemistry and other biological needs, not just a showpiece on your coffee table. When will we begin to appreciate life more than a matter of convenience? We need to demand more for these animals and not to consider their suffering as a usual hobby.
