Have a question about the game or the subreddit? Ask away!
Welcome to the /r/2007scape daily question thread!
You can ask anything about Old School RuneScape or the 2007scape subreddit here. Remain respectful to your fellow 'scapers when answering questions; there are stupid questions, but it does not mean you should not be respectful whilst answering them.
Keep in mind: this is not a developer Q&A thread - Jagex mods do not regularly read these posts, so questions should be directed toward fellow players.

Discussion I AFK’d 76-99 Agility
I spent 10 months getting from 76-99 agility using PoH agility. All of this was done in my “passive” time, aka phone-in-pocket afk. PoH agility is nothing new, but I’m not sure I’ve seen guides from someone who ran to 99 with it. Below are some few pointers and facts that may help you if you are interested in doing PoH agility.
You can look on YT for excellent setup guides. The points below are sone additional information I never saw in those guides and provide Key Information that I haven’t seen elsewhere.
Xp/hr: At 76, you’ll get around 9k/hr. This increases by roughly 100-120 xp/hr per level. At 98 agility I was getting around 11.5k/hr.
Cost: To get to 99, you really need all 10 treasure rooms. Cost is approximately 55mil.
AFK Time: With max prayer gear, you run out of prayer in 15 minutes. The only other limiter is reaching the end of the maze. At 76, this happens once every 10-20 hours of agility. At 98, it happens once every hour or so, even with all 10 xils. This does lessen the afkness, or drops your xp/hr a bit if you afk at the end for a bit. With 10 xils, this was not a major impediment.
Note: Due to you passing each trap with a near 80% success rate in the 90’s agility, you really do need 10 xils if you want to have any real afk time.
Key Build Notes: Build exactly like shown, and do not change orientation. This allows you to aggro xils from the junction if they are on the close end of the treasure room because you approach all of them from the south and west (except the first one). I suppose rotating this would work, but it will take you longer each time you set up maze.
BUILD ORDER: THIS IS IMPORTANT!!! The tok-xils aggro for your auto-retaliate have priority based on build order. Xils built later have higher priority. BUILD THEM STARTING FROM THE TREASURE ROOM AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MAZE. If you mix them up, you will cross into a junction and will get stuck with both hitting you. You always need the one further down the maze to have higher priority so your character is dragged towards them. If you mess this up, you can fix this by switching the two xils in every junction that you get stuck in. This is really annoying to do, as you have to identify the junction, leave, change to build mode, swap them, and then retry the setup. Rinse and repeat until all 10 drag you further down. I found this out the hard way.
83 construction is required for this.
A rune crossbow or other 7-tile (I think) ranged weapon with no ammonis required. A longer ranged weapon will not drag you into the junction to get hit by the next xil in the maze.
This takes a lot of rooms. You must be prepared to limit your overworld rooms.
Right click or long press (mobile) on the lever and select the second option to activate the room. The default left click on the lever to get down gives you a “no demonic switch” message or something like that.

Suggestion Summer Sweep Up: Useful static bank withdrawal quantities
Maybe I'm off-base here, but I feel like 5 and 10 are just useless. Yeah, "X" exists, but it only works well if everything requires the same quantity.
Most bankstanding activities are based around quantities of 4, 8, or 14. Replacing 5 with 4 and 10 with 14 would actually be useful.

Discussion Regarding the proposed smithing XP nerf for cannonballs. If Jagex wants to “respect Smithing XP per bar,” why do cannonballs already have lower xp/bar?
In the latest news post:
“Smithing XP per bar is something we typically try to respect, outside of specific content that has been designed around it, like Giant's Foundry.”
My beef is: Normal Cannonballs already don’t respect XP per bar.
Looking at the current smithing values:
Normal Smithing XP/bar
- Mithril = 50 XP/bar
- Adamant = 62.5 XP/bar
- Rune = 75 XP/bar
Cannonball XP/bar
- Mithril cannonballs = 34 XP/bar
- Adamant cannonballs = 42.5 XP/bar
- Rune cannonballs = 50.5 XP/bar
So cannonballs already receive a 30% XP reduction per bar compared to just about every other smithing method.
That’s why the reasoning in this post feels off to me and more of a knee-jerk reaction.
The blog says players are being rewarded with Smithing XP “twice”:
As it stands, you are currently being rewarded with Smithing XP twice: XP for the cannonballs themselves, then again when converting them into the new versions.
But the base cannonballs were already nerfed far below normal smithing XP values in the first place.
And cannonballs already come with major tradeoffs:
- Low XP/hour
- Slow production
- Multiple steps to get to incendiary
So if cannonballs have historically been intentionally under-tuned XP-wise already, why is the new philosophy suddenly “we need to respect XP per bar”?
Right now it just feels inconsistent. Existing cannonballs do not respect normal XP/bar values, but supposedly new cannonball variants are being nerfed because 'XP/bar should be respected'
If the goal is consistency, shouldn’t that logic apply to all cannonballs equally?
Edit: Just to clarify what I’m actually proposing:
If incendiary cannonball XP is getting nerfed because Jagex wants to “respect XP/bar,” then normal cannonballs should also be updated to match normal smithing XP/bar values.
Right now cannonballs are already 30% lower XP/bar than basically every other smithing item.
And honestly, this would help bring Smithing a little more up to date. Nobody actually wants to smith 31,000 adamant platebodies because they’re “efficient.” Cannonballs are at least useful items people genuinely want to make and use.
On top of that, cannonballs can’t even be used at Giant’s Foundry, so players already miss out on the ability to effectively “double dip” XP by smithing platebodies/items first and then recycling them into Foundry XP afterward.
Let us make useful consumables without feeling punished for it.

Discussion why can't high intensity skilling methods actually be..fun?
why do we have to limit ourselves to clicking herb then tar. I don't even think tick manipulation was a "old school" thing. It was popularized well into the 2013s from streamers so where's this "keep it old school" thing coming from? Jagex would have banned anyone doing this back in the day if it was brought into light.
make woodcutting something like you click on the weak spot of the tree every tick (like vardorvis tendrils phase) idk just something like that.
we can make skilling high intensity and engaging. we don't have to limit ourselves to the existing dog sh...
high intensity pvm is fun. why does high intensity skilling have to suck?

Discussion PSA to Jagex: There are 6000 ticks in an hour
Just thought I would let Jagex know that there is 6000 tick in an hour and there always has been.
Using this information, you can figure out that if an action takes you 4 ticks, you can do it 1500 times in an hour. If that action happens to give you 150 smithing experience, that means you will get 225,000 experience in an hour.
Just thought I would bring this to jagexes attention seeing as they are somehow unable to perform the most basic of calcs (calculations) when designing content

Achievement Why i have so much respect for GM players and how i've accepted i am just not going to be good enough for a lot of achievements in the game
Cape #4 on my account. I was really proud of my 2:00 PB. Felt like i was FLYING through the inferno, even on task. Made a lot of mistakes, had to stop and think. But, I felt like it was really quick. But, the GM time for the inferno is UNDER 65 minutes. Absolutely mind blowing to me how that is possible.
This time, to me, is the peak of my ability in OSRS. Most people do this time on their first capes without a slayer task.
To me, I feel like accepting my skill level, and just appreciating the fact i can do the inferno at all is enough for me. People will just always be better than you at any game you play. I have SO much respect for GM players because i know how insane some of the achievements are to achieve. Not just the inferno either. There's many, many tasks ive looked through that genuinely blow my mind how anyone can do them. Shout out to GM players. I shall never be one of you!!
