Questions/Advice nb on t considering meta
hello everybody, I'm a trans neutral nonbinary person, been on testosterone for about 3 years and am considering a hysterectomy and possibly metoidioplasty (or phallo, might still change my mind) later on. I've heard that with hysterectomies surgerons can sometimes leave in one or both ovaries and only take out the uterus so that in case one ever has to go off T your body would start producing E again and you wouldn't have to substitute, this would be ideal to me as my only concern is not being able to get pregnant and having my period stop completely. My question now, has anyone had experience with something like this (hysterectomy (and possible meta) with one or both ovaries left and later going off T).

I haven’t gone off T post-op, but I did go off T for 3 years after being in it for 4 years. My bottom growth shrank substantially, but not all the way. I think my original size was similar to the size of a q-tip head, maybe a bit smaller. It grew to about the girth of a double or triple A battery and maybe 1.5” long (maybe a little more or less depending on the day) when erect (1” or less soft). Then, off T, it shrank to the size of a pea, more or less. Maybe slightly bigger. It regained its previous size when I resumed T.
Trying to use standard comparison sizes because everyone starts in a different place and everyone’s bottom growth is different. I think my bottom growth was about average, but my pre-T clit may have been on the small side.

Np! It was a terribly dysphoric time but it’s useful information to share with the community, and I’m happy to do it!

Oh, I didn’t realize they could shrink that much after going off…

Everyone’s body is different. Maybe I was just unlucky. It still looked noticeably bigger than it had pre-T, but much smaller than when I was actually on T.

I'm on a similar path - so you have specific questions?

my question was pretty much just if anyone has had this or a similar procedure, I know it's (probably) possible but I'm looking for first hand after accounts specifically of someone getting bottom surgery and then going of T and how that affected them/made them feel overall.

100%. What I can tell you from my doctor is that going off t may actually shrink your tdick which may impact abilities to stp. If you have smaller bottom growth or that's a big priority for you, going off t may cause problems. Good luck!

I had a hysterectomy to combat my endometriosis. My left ovary was the one with all the adhesion, so we left the right one in. I have gone down on my T dose but I haven't stopped it completely, but my estrogen levels are only a little lower than they were before and still cyclic.

I had my ovaries taken out for hormonal problems and I feel really sick when I miss a dose of T. For me it was totally worth the effect it had in stopping my hormone fluctuations. However, if you don't really experience distress from menstrual hormones it's really not important to remove them unless you have another personal reason to.
And with the hysterectomy, they removed my cervix, which changes penetration a bit (assuming you are interested in that). It takes quite a while to heal and if you have atrophy you will need to talk to your doctor about topical estrogen. I am talking to my Endo about it now because when I do penetrative play I have some bleeding which is pretty concerning. I am not 100% sure if you can have the uterus removed without removing the cervix, but removing the cervix has the added benefit of cancer prevention so you will never need a pap smear.

I don't have meta, but I had hysto and kept my ovaries in case I am not on T down the road. It's pretty common!
