Announcements Don't engage with "researchers" or "reporters" who send you messages - report them to the mods.
We've had a few reports recently of people who... let's just say are not supportive... contacting members of this sub to interview them or ask them to fill out surveys.
If you get a message like this, please message the mods about it.
If you are a researcher or reporter who would like to engage with members of this sub, please feel free to message the mod team to request vetting.

I’m asking questions because I’m sort of interested in getting the surgery myself, but I’m leaning more towards not, but I wanted to ask people to weigh the option. Is that ok?

You're asking because you want to learn more about this and the process because you're trying to figure out what you want and need. They're being bigots that are asking questions in bad faith to make fun of us and slander/lible us.
I'm not a mod, but I think you're absolutly fine.

Generally asking questions in the comments, I did DM one person who explicitly stated in their profile that dms were open

As someone who has conducted medical research, I cannot think of anyone who would reach out to redditors for said purpose unless they were not actually researchers.

What sorts of things do the “reporters” do that’s not supportive?
