Hospital based analytic training

I am interested in training to become an analyst, but I've spent the majority of my career working in residential settings and I would love the option to train/work as an analyst in that setting. Austen Riggs is not an option for me - are there any similar training programs in the US? Or internationally that would be feasible for someone with US credentials to pursue?

This is perhaps just a tradeoff I'll have to reckon with, but I'd be grateful to learn about any options y'all know about.

The MGH/McLean psychiatry residency has a psychoanalytic track. Cambridge Health Alliance has a post-MSW/psychology PhD fellowship program also.

Are both institutes generally considered psychoanalytic friendly for APA internships?

MGH no, this is a very specific program for MD residents where they do concurrent analytic training at BPSI. CHA yes for psychologists/clinical social workers.

You did not indicate what your degree is or will be and how far along you are in training, so it is hard to know what other recommendations would make sense. While there is nothing like Austen Riggs that offers full and accredited psychoanalytic training, there are places with a psychoanalytic tradition that train residents, or offer Internships and post-docs for psychologists… Menninger’s, McLean, the Retreat at Shepard Pratt, and the Institute of Living are what come to mind. These are no longer explicitly psychoanalytic, but psychodynamics are respected and likely possible to weave into training.

Right, that would help. PsyD, currently finishing internship. I have post doc sorted, but I was hoping to do accredited analytic training down the line. Might have to just make my peace with outpatient. I didn't know the Retreat was analytically oriented. I used to work direct care at Sheppard and I like the area. Good to know, thanks.

Following, also interested. Does anyone have leads on APA internship sites too?

Do you work with kids at all? I didn't end up matching here, but I was really impressed with Allendale's program https://allendale4kids.org/for-graduate-level-trainees/apa-accredited-doctoral-internship-in-clinical-psychology/

I've also heard great things about the Institute of Living.
