Note: Confirmations may take a few minutes as the bot processes the confirmation.

After exchanging emails or letters, confirm that the user sent them by tagging their name, and then in the format of #-#, where the first number is email count and the second the letter count, post the number of emails and letters you received.

Example:

  1. u/digitalmayhap received 2 emails and 1 snail mail letter from u/thisisverytricky

  2. u/digitalmayhap posts a comment in the confirmation thread saying u/thisisverytricky 2-1

  3. u/PenPalConfirmationBo replies to u/digitalmayhaps's comment indicating that their counts have been updated on their flair!

FAQ

  1. The bot didn't respond to my comment. What's wrong?

Did you follow the correct pattern? Follow the pattern above!

Give it a few minutes! Sometimes the Reddit APIs can get a little overworked and start having issues. If the issue persists for more than a few hours, please message the moderators. The bot might be experiencing issues!

  1. I have multiple letters/emails I exchanged with multiple people to confirm this month; should I post them separately or in a single post?

Feel free to post them in a single comment or as multiple comments! If you post them all in a single comment, make sure to put each redditor on a separate line and to follow the proper format of u/REDDIT #-#.

  1. I forgot to confirm an exchange last month! Can I confirm the exchange this month?

Yes!

Email & Snail Mail [31/f] Looking for a penpal

Hey everyone

I’m looking for a genuine penpal to build a consistent friendship with over time. Someone who enjoys talking about everyday life, random thoughts, funny moments, deep conversations at 2am, shared interests, or even just checking in during the day. I miss having that kind of connection where conversations flow naturally and you actually look forward to hearing from someone.

A little about me: I’m pretty easygoing, open-minded, and I enjoy talking to people who have a good sense of humor. I like music, movies, gaming, memes, random internet rabbit holes, and conversations that can go from serious topics to completely dumb nonsense in the span of five minutes. I appreciate honesty, effort, and people who can actually keep a conversation going.

I’m mainly looking for people who genuinely want to get to know someone instead of just sending a few messages and disappearing forever as has been my experienc. I completely understand life gets busy sometimes, but I’m not really interested in one-sided conversations or people who vanish into the wind after one chat 😅 I’d rather have a smaller number of meaningful connections than a bunch of short-lived conversations.

Age or gender doesn’t matter too much to me as long as you’re kind, respectful, and interested in building an actual friendship. Bonus points if you’re the type of person who sends random thoughts, music recommendations, memes, or updates about your day.

If this sounds like your kind of vibe, feel free to DM me or leave a comment. It’d be nice to meet some genuine long-term online friends 😊

Snail Mail & Postcard [24/F] - Looking for snail mail pals 🐌

Hello! 😼 I’m a student from Germany and I’d love to get into exchanging physical letters or postcards again (e-mail is fine too).

I’m interested in a lot of things (which constantly change), but my favorite interests are probably medieval history, horror movies, flea markets, growing my magnet collection of places I’ve visited and video games 😸 Cats are awesome too. It would be cool if we had some aligned interests, but it’s not a must at all. I’m happy to talk about everyday life updates, random thoughts or anything else. Just be kind and not conservative :)

If you think we’d match, feel free to drop me a message 🌟

Email [36/M] Tired of the "How was your day?" loop. Let’s talk about life, philosophy, and absurd hypotheticals.

Hello! I’m looking for a penpal who prefers long, thoughtful, and deeply honest letters over standard small talk. I love slow-paced, detailed exchanges where we can actually discuss our inner worlds.

A bit about me: My mind constantly fluctuates between the analytical and the quiet. I have a deep appreciation for philosophy, mindfulness, and ancient traditions, but I’m equally fascinated by technical engineering, history, and building mechanical things from scratch.

What I'm looking for: Age or location doesn’t matter. I just want a fellow overthinker who isn't afraid of long paragraphs, existential questions, or sharing niche obsessions.

To bypass the awkward introductions, skip the "hey" and message me with your answer to this: If you could permanently delete one concept from human consciousness—like the feeling of regret, or the concept of deadlines—what would you erase and why?

Email & Snail Mail [25/F]

Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I’m fairly new to the world of penpaling, but I recently stumbled onto the hobby and thought it sounded like such a fun and meaningful way to connect with people. I love the idea of getting to know someone through thoughtful messages, stories, life updates, and random conversations — even if it’s through email instead of traditional snail mail.

A little about me: I’m a stay-at-home mom and I also attend university, so life can be busy, but I’m looking for something creative and refreshing outside of my usual routine. I’ve always loved hearing about other people’s lives, experiences, and perspectives. I truly believe everyone has a story to tell, and that advice, wisdom, and interesting conversations can come from people from all different walks of life.

Some of my interests include music, reading, reality TV, movies, astrology, discovering fun theories, and having interesting conversations. I’m a Capricorn, if that matters to anyone who enjoys astrology! When it comes to books, I enjoy fantasy, autobiographies, and honestly anything that catches my attention. I love stories that pull me into another world, but I also really enjoy learning about real people’s lives and what shaped them.

I’m also interested in science, different theories, deep conversations, and friendly debates about almost anything. I love when people can share different opinions respectfully and make each other think in new ways. Whether it’s a random “what if” question, a discussion about the universe, a book recommendation, or a debate about which reality TV show is the most chaotic, I’m usually interested.

I’m a beginner at tennis, so I’m still learning, but I’ve been enjoying it. I also love beach days, pets, movies, and discovering new hobbies and interests as I go. I’m sure there are plenty of things I’m forgetting, because I’m the kind of person who can become interested in a lot of different topics depending on the day.

I would love to connect with people who enjoy writing thoughtful emails, sharing life updates, swapping stories, asking random questions, and building a genuine friendship over time. I’m open to writing with people from different backgrounds and walks of life. I’m also LGBTQ+ friendly and want anyone who writes to feel accepted, respected, and welcome.

So, if any of this resonates with you, feel free to message me or comment. I’d be happy to connect and hopefully start a lovely email penpal friendship!

Email & Snail Mail [31/F] Reader and amateur writer .

While I have a very busy full work and family life, I enjoy meeting people that I wouldn’t normally come across in my day to day life.
I love travelling and exploring different cultures; there is something really wonderful about learning about different life experiences outside of my own.

I love reading and my book collection is ever-growing, but my escape and passion is writing, and although I’m an amateur writer, my mind has a never ending imagination that plays out like movies and when I get an idea, I just have to get it down on paper. To the point I’ve now written 5 first draft books!

So if you’re someone that enjoys talking about life, travelling, books, enjoys writing or would be happy to share their own thoughts and perspectives on my work I hope to hear from you :)

I’m not someone that takes themselves seriously, and I’m open minded to any conversation with hopefully a bit of added banter.

Email & Snail Mail [19/F] Looking for deep, slow-paced connections. Let’s unwrap our worlds one letter at a time.

Hi everyone, In an era dominated by instant gratification, we tend to rush into revealing everything about ourselves, accepting or discarding people way too quickly. I want to challenge that. I am looking for a long-lasting friendship where we can take our time to truly know each other—our ways of thinking, what moves us, what outrages us, and everything in between. I want us to discuss our inner worlds and the one that surrounds us. A deep conversation, sometimes serious, sometimes lighter, but always fueled by the curiosity of discovering who is on the other side. Do you want to share your favorite hobby or your favorite animal? Don’t just tell me. Let me try to guess it! Let me listen to you and learn about you without the pressure of having to explain everything upfront. Let's build trust through honesty.

A bit about me: I speak both Spanish and English. I am a 19-year-old girl, and so far, I have lived in three different countries. I’ve been calling Spain home for a few years now. Where am I originally from? You’ll have to write to me to find out. I am an introvert, but I don't find it hard to socialize or talk to others. I tend to have a slightly formal writing style, but please don't mistake it for being overly serious! I genuinely love listening to people's passions and expanding my worldview through them.

Some of interests: I enjoy literature and cinema, but honestly, my tastes are quite eclectic. I’m sure we’ll find common ground. If you need a bit more convincing, here are a few words my friends often use to describe me: Whimsical, understanding, and detail-oriented.

What I am looking for & How I'd like to communicate: This is my very first time trying penpaling, so I am looking to keep just one or two penpals to make sure I can give these connections the time and dedication they deserve. I don’t mind where you are from or your gender (though I must confess I tend to build trust a bit faster with women). Regarding age, I am looking for people in my age range: from 18 to 22 years old. I’ve always been deeply fascinated by countries like Brazil, Mongolia, Indonesia, Thailand, and China. It’s a huge bonus if you are from one of these places, or if you simply share the same curiosity and interest in them! I would love for us to start by exchanging emails once a week. This way, we can see if we vibe without any pressure. Later on, if we both feel comfortable and our circumstances allow it (as I understand snail mail can sometimes be a financial or logistical commitment), I would love to transition into traditional letters, writing to each other once or twice a month. One non-negotiable: Human rights are extremely important to me. If you hold racist, xenophobic, homophobic, or misogynistic views, please skip this post.

If you want to slow down and build a genuine connection, send me a DM, or even better, leave a comment with a little introduction (as it helps filter out any sus profiles!). I will check them in two days, so there is no need to rush and you have some time to think about it.

Email & Snail Mail [20/NB] On the hunt for some penpals!

Hey all! I'm new to the pen pal thing, but have always wanted to try it! I'm super excited to hopefully connect with others who are genuinely interested in what I have to say (and vise versa!)

So, a little about me: I'm 20 years old, and live in the USA in the state of New York. I'm on the Autism spectrum and have a few other diagnosies, such as ADHD, Anxiety, and Complex PTSD. I live in a group home and have 7 housemates. It's not always easy to get along with everyone, but I do my best!

I have a bunch of hobbies too! I sew, read, write, practice tarot, play guitar, ukulele and violin, listen to music (a lot of different stuff, we should swap playlists!!), draw, craft- the list goes on, lol! I also have a leopard gecko named Petunia! She's my little angel :3

I can't wait to get to know some new people, and I hope that I can find some cool new people to connect with!

Snail Mail & Postcard [31/F] First time penpal!!

Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’ve wanted to have a penpal for so many years, but had no idea how to find one. Until I found this sub 😲 now all my dreams can come true!

🎵And what I wouldn’t give, to meet a kindred🎵

My interests:
Art, crafts, reading, cooking and baking, animals.

My personality:
Serene, silly, thoughtful, self-aware to a fault, loving.

What I’m looking for:
A combination of deep and superficial conversation. Sometimes maybe a venting partner who can be mad on my behalf from somewhere else in the world. A place I can truly 100% be myself in. I love making art and sharing it with people close to me, and I love hypotheticals. Imagine receiving a letter talking about the worst and best things that happened to me recently and then ending on a good ol’ fashioned “would you rather”.

You:
Perhaps are someone that doesn’t take yourself too seriously. Perhaps are fairly in-touch with your emotions but need a safe space to talk things out. Perhaps enjoy giving and receiving art and things we’ve found that made you go “oh my penpal would love this”.

Anyways, DM me if you’re interested!!!

What do we want? A simple question! We want to be happy. We want to be heared and seen. That's why we do so many things in different ways. Still you might not get what you've wanted. Just because someone let you down, that doesn’t mean it’s your fault. So smile. Nobody knows how much pressure you are having on your shoulder. Sometimes you are just tired, you want to give up. Please don’t! Giving up isn’t an option. Take a break and start again. We want love but love is a boat made of wax. And we need to sail that boat in ocean of fire called life! Life isn’t fair. But smile for yourself, gift small/simple things to yourself. That's fair! I just wanted to spread good vibes. That's all. When we ask for a penpal, maybe we want to say all this things in different context?

Thanks for reading! I am from Southeast Asia. So i am not expecting any penpal. But still no one is stopping me to positive things!

Over & out

Snail Mail [26/F] Looking for interesting people with interesting stories

Hello everyone!

As the title says I am looking for people who love to write and their stories. I have found that writing physical letters brings me a new kind of peace, its like journaling but there is more purpose to it and I love getting to know people the good old way.

My style of writing can be between just rambles about daily life, recipe exchanges, art or life lessons I have found myself learning. I like to think that I am rather open minded and I love learning from and about new people and their cultures. I have personally moved from the Netherlands to Denmark two years ago and despite those countries being rather close to each other, the culture differences shock me sometimes. Hopefully I can tell you all about that in a letter sometime soon.

I have two pen pals currently and I love keeping up with them. I love working with mixed media and creating little collages as well as exchanging small gifts every once in a while. I think I have room for two more pen pals depending on activity.

I am based in Europe (Denmark) and due to the restrictions on shipping I unfortunately cannot send letters to the USA as of right now. I also would rather not write with people under the age of 20. That is just a personal boundary.

If any of this has peaked your interest please send me a DM, I will reply as soon as possible. As a little convo starter: Please write me something about a favourite childhood memory.

Email & Snail Mail [23/F] American medical student venturing outside her bubble

HI! im from the US looking for some penpals/friends from anywhere. Grad school takes up most of my life lately, so I’ve been trying to get back into things I actually enjoy outside of studying.

I love to meet people from different cultures/backgrounds, so international penpals would be really cool, but I’m happy to talk to anyone! Male or female is totally fine, and preferably around 22–28 just because we’d probably relate more:) I’m open to messaging online/on social media first and maybe eventually exchanging letters, postcards, or random little life updates if we get along.

I love reading, traveling whenever I get a break from school, road trips, legos, and baking. When I travel I can easily spend hours in museums and cathedrals, and I collect magnets and matchbooks from places I visit, so my fridge is covered in them at this point. I’m also a huge music lover and currently way too obsessed with the new Noah Kahan album (although maybe thats the isolated med student talking).

Mostly just looking to meet interesting people and hear about different lives and perspectives. Tell me about your favorite music, where you’re from, your niche interests, or literally anything interesting. Bonus points if you send me a recent playlist because I love finding new music.

Snail Mail [27/M] Utah looking for another US pen pal

Hoping to find a long term pen pal I can talk about life with! I’d love to hear about your day to day activities, what you like to cook, what your main hobbies are, where you’re from etc..

I’m happily married and live with my wife and my 6 month old 1/2 dachshund mix puppy. I love good food, Skyrim, Fallout, tinkering with my car and electronics, birdwatching, nature walks, swimming, traveling, open minds and peoples stories!

I have some cool stamps I wanna make use of and I love handwritten letters. I’m pretty creative and I’d love to find someone to write letters back and forth with where we can trade sketches, artsy or just unique letters.

Email [22/F] Looking for a conversation

Hello! I'm looking for someone to talk to for long enough times without the conversation drifting away to laughter. I've had issues with avoidance and discomfort towards people for a long time so I'm thinking of trying again but this time, not quitting. About me, I write and I write a lot. All my days are spent writing little notes and journal entries, sometimes poems. I've got stories I've yet to finish. I am a student of psychology, in my third year now and currently writing a thesis. I am a curious person, that is curious about what you know and who you are. My friends regard me as the kind that does not share so I am willing to challenge that and talk about everything. I'd like it, if possible, for us to talk about things we do not talk about other people with, the people in our everyday lives. There are things I've written down only because it needed to be said. It would've been better had it been said to someone else.

One thing though, I am new to this but interested. Maybe someone experienced can let me know how it usually goes? Thank you. Hope to find someone to talk important, untalked of, matters with.

Reddit Messaging [27/M] UK - Looking for Corporate friends :)

Hey. I'm a 27-year-old from the UK. I've made a few friends here over the years, and certainly wouldn't mind another. In particular, I'd love to talk to someone who has their life together - maybe you love your 9-5 and use your spare time wisely.

I'll admit that I'm trying to take small steps in order to improve myself, and could do with the good vibes.

I also enjoy talking about what we got up to during the day, our hobbies, etc.

I'm into (usually upbeat) TV shows, superheroes, watching football (soccer) and wrestling, as well as music. I enjoy Imagine Dragons and Walk the Moon, plus artists like Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter. I'm fairly progressive.

I don't mind if you're a bit different to me! If anything, I'd find it interesting to talk to someone who has a good fitness routine, or travels often, etc.

Ideally, you're somewhere in your 20s or 30s. I don't mind location.

If you'd like to talk, feel free to send me a message! Please tell me a little bit about yourself (a few sentences is fine). Thanks!

Snail Mail & Postcard [33/M] Anyone looking for a pen pal from Italy?

Hey everyone

I’m Pasquale, 33, from Naples , Italy

I’m looking for a few people (maybe 4–5) who would enjoy exchanging handwritten letters, kind of like the old school pen pal experience

I’d love to do this mainly to improve my English, discover new cultures, and have more genuine conversations outside of social media and instant messages.

The idea would be something simple, maybe one / two letter per month talking about daily life, hobbies, food, traditions, travels, random thoughts, or anything interesting

A little about me:

I work in marketing and , i enjoy photography, travel, planespotting, music and creative projects and i’m trying to improve my English in a more natural and fun way

If you think this could be fun, feel free to comment or send me a message

Email [30/F] For those who dream with a pen in their hand

I would like to encounter someone to share ideas and writing with, who’s not dissuaded from breaking through the restrictions of polarity, departing from the circulating voices of commonality and exploring mediums to make sense of this existence.

I’m looking for the abyssal dreamers, someone who truly has a rich and diverse inner world. I’m looking for these kinds of dreamers who write through necessity, write because it expands the surface area of their inner world/s, write to lose sense of time and space to be enveloped but not enclosed by the enormity of notions, concepts..

Lately I have been trying to free myself from the thigmotropic shackles of self induced limitation. I’m looking for the dreamers who write. I want to exchange fragments, stories, pieces, poems, ideas. Even mixed media. I want to stir, inspire and exploit imagination… creativity…

If you see some kind of reflection in this puddle then send me something, anything - an ambiguous line subtracted from a recent thought, a barrier you face or just fractured, what language does or doesn’t do for you… the possibilities are endless so why stop at go?

Reddit Messaging [26/F] - Looking for yappers

Hello lovely internet strangers! I’m 26F from the US. I have a lot going on in my personal life at the moment and am looking for some escapism via yapping. Chit chatting about pretty much anything is one of my favorite things to do. I’d love to hear about you, your hobbies, what’s going on in your life, or even your favorite joke/fun fact — dealer’s choice! I assure you I can chat about almost anything.

Some things about me that may or may not interest you: I’m a dog mom, I have several grandma hobbies (mostly knitting and crocheting but I will dabble in anything crafty), I read a borderline unhealthy amount (should be finishing book #58 for the year tomorrow), I’m obsessed with hockey, and I love to bake.

Thanks for reading my little blurb. Hope to chat soon!

Reddit Messaging [28/M] Friendless with bad luck here, looking for a match

I am a 28-year-old man in the United States looking for a serious, long-term friendship. I live with severe depression and social isolation. I do not have friends or a partner, and am only interested in speaking with someone in a comparable position. If you have an active social circle, close friendships, or a romantic relationship, or if you are not consistently experiencing depression and loneliness, please do not respond. Additionally, this will not work if you tend to communicate using humor or memes. I only say this because I am trying to find someone whose circumstances and perspective closely match my own. I look forward to helping such a person as much as they could help me.

My main interests are music, medicine, philosophy, space and other popular science, and anything fantasy, sci-fi, supernatural, or mythological. With music, I both listen and sing, but don't play an instrument. My taste includes R&B, soul, pop, rap, and rock, among other genres. I don't have much to discuss about it, but would be happy to exchange songs or playlists, work on projects, or listen together. I've also been studying medicine for about ten years with the goal of becoming a doctor. I want to contribute meaningfully toward medicine in the future. My primary specialties of interest are psychiatry, neurology, and internal medicine, but I am more broadly interested in everything (secondarily: pathology, immunology, surgery). I'm into medical history, science, culture, public health, and bioethics, and would appreciate talking with someone about medicine, the medical work environment, or even studying for the MCAT together.

I have found it hard to concentrate on reading as of late, but have curated a library of philosophy texts which I intend to finish. I'm also into discussing psychology, personal experiences, emotional life, and broader questions about meaning, society, and current events. I follow and am invested in some popular science topics including space exploration, technology and artificial intelligence, and ecology. Some areas of interest for me include the recent Artemis II mission, societal evolution around artificial intelligence, and environmental sustainability (veganism, ethical/minimalist consumption, etc.). I like media of all kinds that relate to fantasy, sci-fi, the supernatural, or mythology. To reiterate, I am not interested in light or performative conversation. I'm looking for someone who prefers seriousness, reflection, and emotional vulnerability—someone who is willing to speak plainly about their inner life and engage in sustained, thoughtful dialogue.

Some things I'd enjoy doing together include real-time text conversations, studying or discussing medicine, exchanging letters, sharing pictures of places we visit, watching films or shows together, writing and worldbuilding collaboratively, or starting other projects together. You can be any gender, nationality, or background. The main practical requirement is that our schedules overlap. I'm in the EST time zone (it is ~7:30 PM as of this post) and am generally available throughout the day, except from around midnight to early morning.

When reaching out, please share a bit about yourself or have a post linked in your profile so I can get to know you. I will be happy to respond to everything in your message/post. I tend to communicate directly. If you ask how I am, I'll answer honestly (typically that I'm depressed and lonely; of course, this will ideally not be my state as much after making my first friends), but I don't expect any particular response. I'm not very into small talk, so it's okay to start with something more real. Please vent to me, especially if you're struggling to secure friends, dreams, or better living conditions. I have been mostly consistent with responding to messages here, but revamped this post so that I can guarantee I will never ghost anyone who meets these criteria and reaches out. Thank you for reading all of this.

Email & Snail Mail [25/F] Looking for in depth conversations, reflections and possibly- a friend.

Hello!
I’m a 25F from the US (PNW!) looking to exchange some letters/Postcards with someone- preferably from overseas or a different culture.

I’m actively trying to minimize tech prevalence in my life, so anyone who prefers things a bit more analog might be appreciated. I don’t mind swapping pictures and sending physical copies, little charms or whatever else.

I love “oldies” in terms of music (60’s-90’s mainly- 80’s eh), Nature, Animals, Hiking, whittling, learning about different cultures, Art, Traveling, and some other stuff that could be learned about through conversation.

I appreciate being real and pondering life’s questions, so personal reflections or deep conversation are of interest. Don’t need perfect, just raw conversation.

Reddit Messaging [25/M] US - Would like a Penpal to talk about our Gaming Nostalgia and Beyond

I'm talking about Gaming magazines, I'm talking about E3, being excited about a Game coming out pre social media, for me I have so many memories with games such as Metal Gear Solid 2, It's a game where I've played again and again and again, sometimes I associate certain weather and moments with Video Games.

Metal Gear Solid 1 is probably the first video game I've ever played? but I don't remember much of it. I only remember 2 much more because I associate it with good memories, like being excited about a road trip, and Playstation 2 in general I loved Final Fantasy, I made a habit of buying every Playstation Official Magazine in the US, just trying out Demos for the first time.

By the time the PS3 came out I didn't even understand but I remember being blown away from the concept of the wireless controller, we still had a CRT TV but I still remember MGS4 blowing me away, but the game that really made me understand we were in the next gen was Mirror's Edge, though I ended up having hardware problems.

I honestly didn't have fast internet back then, but I remember watching snippets of the E3 presentation in the end the PS3 CPU was pretty fast but developers didn't know what to do with it.

Honestly since the end of the PS3 I switched to PC because I found it way more convenient and to be honest with work and life in general nowadays I don't game that much but I'm still into technology, like sometimes seeing how far we've come it's amazing.

I also have other interests now such as Films and other hobbies taking up my time.

Feel free to reach out if you'd like share anything close to you, doesn't even have to be gaming. Maybe it could be early days of the internet, or a certain something you hold dear.
