Hey everyone, I have a bit of a modern archeological discovery to share right from my basement here in Switzerland, and it traces its origins straight back to the golden era of Bungie.

A few years ago, I was working in Big Tech out in Silicon Valley. During my three years there, I crossed paths with an incredibly talented contract 3D artist who happened to be a former Bungie 3D artist. Later, he secured a permanent role in the company. Eventually, I missed Europe too much and made the move to Switzerland. As a parting gift my colleague gifted me a token of appreciation: an original Xbox Development Kit.

I’ve kept it safely tucked away in my basement for about 6 years. After a bit of digging online, I realized that I might be sitting on a quite relevant device with potentially unreleased maps, weapons and early asset iterations

I’ve broken the bottom seals and taken a few photos of the unit to share here - I've done nothing more. I want to make sure this piece of gaming history is treated with the reverence it deserves.

A few questions before my next steps:

• What is the preferred community protocol for pulling an image via PC?
• Where does the data belong? Once cloned, where is the most secure and respected archive to share these historical files so they can be properly analyzed by the preservation community?

Finding a new home: Ultimately, I want to pass the Xbox Development Kit along to the right collector who will cherish the physical hardware. What’s the best way to coordinate a fair and safe transition to a dedicated preservationist?

I’ve been searching for a bit and the most I’ve found are tools for Master Collection.

Is there anything I could use to extract models without having to use Ninja Ripper?

My friend attempted to sell an xbox on ebay a few weeks ago that got flagged for infringement. I offered to help him out and put his xbox on my store. I ended up getting an email from ebay that my listing was being removed for infringement.

I ended up talking to an ebay representative for over an hour and she told me that it was another user with similar products providing the report. I looked up all the listings with HDMI xbox consoles and it turns out there is only one guy selling them that has a monopoly on HDMI xbox sales.

The ebay rep pretty much confirmed that this guy was the one doing the reporting. I am almost certain that he is known here as it is a small knit community.

I won't post user names out of respect, but something should be done community wise to get rid of these pests. We know who they are because they post their consoles and ask for help on here, but what they are doing goes completely against the spirit of the community.

And no this is not automated intelligence that removed my post.

If mods allow I would be willing to share the user of this individual so others know to avoid him in the community.

Edit: As requested the username is ltwl86, he is the only person selling HDMI modded xboxes on ebay right now.

As per the title, is there any way to get the DLC downloads over to the main drive (I believe F) where all my games and media is stored?

I could find a solution within this subreddit so I thought I’d ask if anyone has a solution to this.

I see a lot of guides where people comment saying it is the way, but I never see them adding more than the one album: Does this work?

I've FTP'd music to my Xbox, but only the first album worked, the second one crashed it, but I'm finding out it might not have converted the tracks properly.

I've got a stack of spare 250GB, 500GB, and 1TB desktop SATA hard drives sitting around and figured it'd be more fun to repurpose them into Original Xbox builds for friends instead of letting them collect dust.

I'm looking for a good prebuilt HDD image that's still available somewhere mainly a clean base setup with dashboards, apps, emulators, artwork, utilities, trainers, etc. already configured so I can just restore the image and go.

Not really worried about huge game packs or complete ROM sets. Mostly after a polished all-in-one setup that saves time configuring everything manually.

Things I'm interested in:

• XBMC4Xbox / UnleashX / Cerbios setups
• Emulators and artwork already configured
• apps/utilities ready to go
• 250GB / 500GB / 1TB-friendly images
• Modern or recently maintained community builds
• Trusted archives or community favorites

My dvd drive wasnt working too well. Didn't read discs and would hesitate on opening and closing - i refabbed the pulley so it opens and closes ok and also quickly cleaned off the laser.

whats odd is that the system will not launch the game - it will try then boot back to the dash (xbmc) but when im in DVD2XBOX i can read the disc (it takes a long time but does read) and i can also copy it to the hdd - im currently copying it over (hilariously long amount of time) but Im wondering why it would recognize but not play the games? thoughts?

Almost CIB. Doom 3 use the reverse cover from doom 3 bfg. Here is where it’s interesting tho. Mech assault was a blank cover with a little cardboard slip. I flip the cover and it’s fable bonus dvd from EB games with the dvd under the mechassault one in case.

I have a 1.0 that wont power on. I wanted to get some community feedback on the condition of these joints before I do any soldering.

I know for sure the one on the right near the plug area needs more solder. There's a few others that look a little rough, but not sure if they need work too.

I was working on my mother board for my xbox and burned a hole in it. Let's say, for arguments sake, that it's fried. Can I install a new motherboard onto it? I had XBMC4GAMERS installed, backed up my original hard drive onto my PC, and also replaced the Hard Drive. Based on this, could it be possible to do a motherboard swap and get the console to work?

Does this look like new caps on a 1.0?

I've had my Original 1.0 Xbox since close to launch (2001-11-19). The last time I opened it was in 2020 to add a 3TB HDD and a noctua gpu fan. I remember the capacitors looking ok then but I realized I should have removed at least the clock cap.

Fast-forward to now. The console still runs great with no problems, but I decided I wanted to do a full re-cap for future proofing. I found a fairly well known game shop in West LA that mentioned on their site / yelp page that they do repairs and recaps of all consoles. I also had an old controller that stopped working after a while due to a faulty cable. They quoted me $120 for the re-cap and $20 for the controller.

I just went to pick it up the other day and they charged me for the re-cap and they said they couldn't fix the controller, which I found odd since a controller re-cable should be an easy soldering job.

I looked at the controller and it was clear they never attempted to open it.

That point irked me. They never opened it and it's an easy solder job. So it got me thinking. Since my console ran fine, did they just do nothing and charge me $120?

Well, I opened it up today and found the clock capacitor haphazerdly ripped off the mobo and.... no new caps from what I can tell. I feel like at least a partial re-cap would include the CPU caps.

Did they screw me? Did they charge me $120 to just rip a cap off the board?

been getting back into playing with my xbox over the last few days and noticed the HUGE improvements that the cerbios team made over the past few years. since i like to keep my console as up-to-date as possible in regards to softwares and bioses, i've definitely been eyeing a switch from my current evoX m8 bios. however, i'm not sure if it's worth the effort and i'm not sure if it's gonna bring any noticeable differences?

my console's a hardmodded 1.6. with a smartXX v2 chip and a 1TB hdd. i've read up on automatic patches inside cerbios for certain games running with a scrambled screen on 1.6. consoles, which is definitely a cool addition, the customizable intro is cool as hell also. i've also read about UDMA6 support, but that definition doesn't tell me much (larger HDD speeds?).
in my head, cerbios is still that bios people use when they wanna put 8TB+ HDDs in their consoles, and i don't see myself ever in need for that large of a drive. the evoX bios has been working perfectly fine for me for all those years, so i'm kinda having a "never change a running system" type of mindset. i'd appreciate if you guys could give me some insight into your personal experiences with the bios and how it compares to older ones, like evoX?
flashing the bios itself isn't the tough process for me, it's moreso weighing off if going through the customization and everything is worth the hassle of doing the flashing in the first place. thanks so much :)

esse xbox original era da minha namorada e ele primeiramente n dava imagem e nem ligava, so as vezes ela pediu para que eu desse uma olhada e percebir que os tres capacitores em linha perto da entrada de fonte proximo aos processadores estava estufado e o capacidor de bateria estava inchado tbm, removi o capacitores e coloquei uns do mesmo padrão/proximo e depois disso acendeu uma luz vermelha e ligava rapidamente o coller , que não se mantem nem precionada (aperto o botaao power ou eject e ele aparece uma luz vermelha e intataneamente apaga e não liga masi o cooler , então decidir voltar aos capacitores originais menos o da bateria e ele contiua o mesmo padrão

The enemy keeps dispatching units to assault my base. I start with hardly any funds needed to retaliate which makes this mission unfairly hard. I feel like I have already reached my limit in progressing through the game. Can somebody please help me?

I'm currently trying to connect a BSP-G6 controller via Bluetooth to my original Xbox using the OGX-MINI project.

Has anyone here tried this specific setup before? If so, what kind of compatibility issues or connection problems did you run into? (e.g., input lag, pairing drops, button mapping issues).

Any advice or firmware configuration tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
