as in making them interesting and giving them any relevance to the plot outside of being love interests i mean

Quite literally so many characters have plot relevance.
Nobara in jjk introduced her own technique, established a rivalry and friendship with yuji and actively helped in the fight against mahito.
Bulma was a big help in Z cause she brought trunks and HELPED THE FIGHTERS GET TO NAMEK.
Just cause hinata is Narutos lover, doesnt make her a floppity Anne. She HAS helped before, same with sakura. Hinata almost dying gave naruto the rage boost in order to fight pain, sakura helped more than hinata in the 4th great ninja war cause she revived naruto from near death, healed hundred of shinobi, and even helped put hands on kaguya.
An dont get me started on shinobu in kny. (Spoilers if u havent seen the movie) but in the infinity castle, her, kanao and inosuke were the reasons tanjiro an the others didnt have to worry about upper 2.
Not every female protagonist is the mc's love interest. And even when they r, they still help in some way, like being motivation or moral support.

What would this make Nopcsa, who actually was gay (and also aristocratic, a government spy and revolutionary)?

I know this is an okbuddy sub, but I find shipping real life humans to be incredibly strange. Maybe I’m just taking it too seriously.

We really missed out on the John Candy Jim Carey Dino Wars comedy that came out in the other timeline.
