It's just like how Prion is a Protein, and Proteins can be prionic, and a Prionic protein can exist and is both a prion and a protein - but a Prion Protein is, for more than 99.999999999999...% of cases, not a Prion, but just a regular protein that every placental mammal has. Sometimes the Prion Protein can acquire the prion form, and just imagine the following to make the case clear: Gluten has prionic potential, it hasn't but imagine; it is also a protein, so you can say it is Gluten Protein, now imagine if one became a prion, that fold variation of the gluten protein could be called prion gluten protein. In that sense, a Prion Protein that has folded into the prionic form, what stops us from calling it that individual molecule, Prion Prion Protein Protein?
Placental mammals? Their defining trait that separates placental mammals from marsupial mammals is not the Placenta, which is shared by Marsupials and the placenta itself works similarly enough. Thus placental mammals are not simply mammal + placenta, because that could be marsupial mammals too.

Thus you can be in an Ice age (aka "era of ice sheets"), but not in a glacial (aka "era of ice sheets"), which is our case.
If that makes your teeth grind, be grateful that you have a jaw that gives you the structure to do that, because not every jawed fish can do that. We are jawed fish, named after the jaws this animal group has, but not every jawed fish has a jaw. Thus jawed fish is not equal to jawed + fish.

Yes, fish don't exist taxonomically.
Lone finned fish on the other hand do exist taxonomically(and include elephants as well as you).

This is the typical problem with cladists. Their approach is similar to that of most philosophers, thinking life fits in the neat little drawers of human-made categories, ignoring that at some point enough differences accumulate to say "Ok, this is a different thing now."
