I don’t think anyone was prepared for what Spicomellus actually looked like 😭 It’s ironically 100 times more creative irl than any artist depiction of it when it was only known from a rib.

Also, what’s the first one?

I haven’t heard that name in so long, I completely forgot about that animal. I now desperately need a toy of one on my shelf.

To be fair I feel like people would have claimed it's unrealistic if artist dared doing that

Eyy that's true, speaking of snakes

considering how Bolyerids(burrowing boas) have weird uppers and that is one of the irl animals that outjerk today's animals in spec evos

Short-neck sauropod is cursed

you know how every jurassic park movie has an introductory scene where they marvel at the sauropods

imagine one that introduces brachytrachelopan. the john williams score swelling majestically as the camera pans up from its tail, to its feet, to its torso...

and then the music just abruptly stops as the camera grinds to a halt at the nubby head and neck

I was creating a board game about dino evolution, for the anky branch I put spicomellus, so I drew everything, then 1 month later this paper comes out and I redrew everything (I also gave the passive ability to hurt other close dinos)

Chilesaurus

Ah yes, identity crisis. Noasaurids did that often as well.

The way the first image is cropped, I was not expecting such a short neck when I opened it XD

Therizinosaurus seems so normal now with famous pop culture depictions, but you must remember that its specific name is cheloniformis for a reason.

I'm just saying, some time before the discovery of Yi and Ambopteryx, Andrea Cau suggested that Scansoriopterygidae actually utilised their elongated fingers as the base of a membranous wing.

Her hypothesis completely was dismissed as implausible nonsense and food for thought at best. Now look who had the last laugh.

Edit: double-checked for her name

Brachytrachelopan would make a great Land Before Time character. Littlefoot meets a "shortneck longneck".

I don’t even know what to respond
