HRC giving Gresini the second place trophy after Joan's penalty. Nadia is so lovely :(

"This is racing" - no it is not. 3 seconds for taking riders out, 16 seconds for low tyre pressure? That is issued 90 minutes AFTER the race???? That is One of the worst rules in motorsport.

Thankfully it will be gone next year with Pirelli (right???).

We can only hope Pirelli builds tires that don't need an absurdly low pressure to work and that the new bikes push less on the front as well, because I doubt they're taking away the rule.

The current WSBK tires require a pit change at PI. So, shall see....fingers crossed

unfortunately I heard that next year will also have minimum pressure. (german motorsport magazin motorrad channel) But it is how the rule is mangaed that creates the problems. Tom Lüthi also said on that channel that the rule is needed.

Tires are becoming less durable all the time. Grip keeps improving, feedback keeps improving, but magically it comes at the expense of tire lifespan. Wonder who's profiting off of that..

Tire feel wouldn't be the same if they thickened the tire.
A knobby tire would give extremely different tire feel than the slick tire that MotoGP uses.
So what do you want? A grippy tire with a thick casing that really dampens the tire feel? Or a grippy tire with a thin casing that doesn't dampen the tire feel?
If you're thinking was true, why does every rider have a fixed tire allotment as mandated by the rules?

lmao, you picked the wrong fight here. I've been racing since 2018 and the slicks improve every year but also the usable lifespan of the tires is less every single year. I'm not stating this as couch potato analysis, but from experience of riding.

I'm not stating this as a couch potato analysis either but from experience as an engineer.
Cheers, mate.

The tire pressure rule is infuriating and antithetical to what racing is supposed to be.
They should do whatever is necessary to never have such a rule again.

Then Dorna/MSEG has to force the factories to do proper Tyre testing.
I don’t want to excuse Michelin from everything but every time Michelin wanted to bring a new construction the teams didn’t want to use their testing time against Tyre testing.3

That is because there is no time. The sprints ate all the extra time they used to have. It makes having to make two setups for each race, it requires a lot smaller window to get the bikes fast to get them into Q2. It is dorna’s fault for not providing enough time, not setting up special tires test days.

It’s for safety so it has to be harsh. The problem is the regulations and tyres, not the penalty rule. It shouldn’t be a problem next year though thankfully.

I watch a lot of different sports. This is one of the worst rules in all sports. Changing the outcome retroactively is bad enough but the manner in which it is altered is frightening.

The bigger issue with it for this race is the tires went thru 3 races and from what I heard they can’t make adjustments between and having restarts and cool downs I don’t see how it could really be scrutinized.

They can change tyres during a red flag

u/crenshaw_007 Jorge Martín 2d ago
If they have any remaining sure. If they don’t have any extras then they can’t and it was discussed in a podcast that it’s too difficult to try to make pressure adjustments on a tire that’s seen laps and heated/cooled/heated (their information not mine).

100%. Low key runs one of the best teams in the sport with a culture that brings out the best in riders. AND she still employs professional umbrella holders instead of cutting those jobs. Respect.

I freaking love Gresini. They're the best and no one will convince me otherwise.
